It is hard to give you an accurate assessment of the situation but generally speaking all coronary artery stents require uninterrupted use of aspirin and clopidogrel (ticagrelor or prasugrel may be alternative medications utilized). The duration of this therapy varies depending on stent type.
ve had arthralgia ,oseaophigitis,rashes and chest pain .
ve eight stents and always was given a handful of Clopidogrel (Plavix) during the prep time before the surgery, and a couple of aspirins. They want the blood as thin as possible during the procedure to reduce the risk of stroke or arterial obstructions, obviously. I'd not be concerned and take the medication as asked.

In 2007, at age 54, I had a heart attack and received 6 drug-eluding stents in one artery. Prior to that I had virtually no symptoms, and no risk factors except for stress, and the cause of the heart attack was a mystery to everyone. I stayed on plavix for 6 months (along with low-dose aspirin which I continue to take) and couldn't stand the side effect of severe bruising.
first an allergy to the antibiotics in the hospital (for pnuemonia) which caused a burned skin reaction, then an allergy to the florastat I was given to correct my gut imbalance (itchy rash), then the pnuemonia came back, and now I am pretty sure I am having a reaction to the prasugrel I am taking (SEVERE skin itching) which is partially relieved with hydoxyzine (which may be causing my blood pressure to go even lower - dizziness and a little nausea).
I would just keep to the medications prescribed and eat a healthy diet. The Clopidogrel is important for the Stent and the drug coating on the stent will help to inhibit the formation of scar tissue.
I am currently taking plavix, 81mg aspirin AND coumadin on a daily basis. I had a stent put in in July 2008 and triple by pass in 2006. I'm 64 and had my first MI at 33. My father died of an MI at 46, my EF is under 30%. My EP (at one hospital) just suggested I eliminate the plavix while my CHF specialist (at a nearby major research university) said I would be on plavix for a "long time" (forever?).
I have been on Coumadin for 18 years due to Lupus Anticoagulant (Antiphospholipid Syndrome) and several DVTs. In 2005 had MI with occlusion of the LAD artery and had drug stent inserted and I am still on plavix. My doc has debated when to take me off the Plavix safely....what are the recent studies about this dilemma? thanks so much!

It depends on the damage your heart suffered from the infarction.
Well before any decision is made for something like Warfarin, you should have your INR (clotting factor) tested. An INR of 1 is how long normal blood takes to clot. An INR of 2 means it take twice as long and so it goes on. Aspirin and Clopidogrel (plavix) I believe attack the clotting mechanisms in different ways. Personally I don't think they know the long term outcomes.
New data show that when clopidogrel and omeprazole are taken together, the effectiveness of clopidogrel is reduced. Patients at risk for heart attacks or strokes who use clopidogrel to prevent blood clots will not get the full effect of this medicine if they are also taking omeprazole.
My problem is that i get these times that either i go to sleep and the doctors not been able to wake me up the next morn and im unresponsive to pain and verbal stimuli ie scoring gcs of 3.
My observations are ok but i can be bought round with oxygen too.

s like if I want some Clopidogrel (another form of anti platelet med) I could ask for either Clopidogrel or Plavix, Plavix is the brand name the drug company trades the medication under.
My father has gone thru angiplasy few months back and he started getting Red or purple spots on the skin. He is taking deplatt and atorvasatin. I heard this can be due to deplatt(Clopidogrel). Please let me know any treatment for the same . should we discontinue Clopidogrel. Is there any alternative for this medicine in india.
