clonidine with alcohol

My doc sent it in to the pharmacy to help with the WDs I am now having. I am reluctant to dd in any other pills, but I need some relief. Any experience with this drug? Side effects? Does it actually do anything? Thanks.

just dont drink any alcohol with it it takes away the strenght of the clonidine no more than 900 mcg daily for detox of opiates and methadome and for the alcohol and the benzos. hope this helps feel free to ask! if you dont ask you dont find out right!

This will also drop your blood pressure slightly and along with the diarrhea and atenolol......stay well hydrated with lots of gatorade and other drinks with electrolytes (sodium, potassium etc...sports drinks). The lexapro will be helpful also, however, remember that you will not feel the full effectiveness of it for about 2 weeks.

clonidine (it's actually a blood pressure medication) is typically used a lot for opiate wd's....it works because during wd's, your blood pressure tends to rise and you get uncomfortable symptoms, and the clonidine helps your blood pressure return to normal....only thing to watch out for is if your blood pressure is NOT that high, because then the clonidine can make you very dizzy, lightheaded and woozy....

Has anyone Sucessfully gotten off of Clonidine? If so - How did you do it? What were the Withdrals Symptoms? And How Long did it take? I am already on the DASH Diet - If I add an excercise regimine - Could I successfully be able to withaw from the Clonidine? I have bad Kidney Disease from a drug one doctor gave me that damaged my Kidneys - so my Blood Pressure has been really high. That's when another doctor put me on Clonidine.

I would not take a chance....it's not worth it. Just my opinion.

I do have xanax and my son is on ritalin with clonidine to sleep. I was not a heavy user, just 2 pills a day. ANy suggestions.

Today is Day 2 off of everything but Day 9 off of my DOC - Vicodin 5/325. After being off for 5 days, I took half a Tramadol for 4 days (which I am not recommending that anyone else do). I was desperate because I was using alcohol on Days 3 - 5 and I had to find something so I wouldn't do that. I am not having any symptoms yet which I am happy about my also worried that the symptoms are going to hit me out of the blue and catch me off-guard. The doctor gave me Clonidine for anxiety.

Does any1 knw how long you usually have to stay on clonidine after getting off opiates? And am I still considered in detox even tho its bn twelve days?

you need to see your doctor to get a prescription. I used clonidine while detoxing and it did help me a lot with gastric symptoms..But I was being prescribed and monitored by my doc and had been on the clonidine while tapering. It is very important because everyone has different BP's and it lowers yours... Again agreeing with IDK to take deep breaths and contact your doctor...Hang in there and keep posting...

so depression is more severe after quitting...bentyl would take the place of immodium and the clonidine helps with the tummy as well, plus the anxiety and sleep, shakes etc....often used to help with wds and those who have used it have liked it that i have read....do keep a check on your blood pressure while u r on the clonidine...if u do not have a cuff...go to the drugstore and check it....Did he prescribe an anti-depressent for u?

Hi and welcome. How much are you drinking each day? The good news is that you are not using a lot of Norco. Is it 5mg? The problem is if you detox from the Norco, will you use alcohol to help with the w/d symptoms? I have been guilty of using alcohol when I don't have pills. The alcohol helped me with the anxiety.

I was on Sub too and they gave me ambien to take with it. they just said no matter what dont drink alcohol with the Ambien.

but cos of body adjustment a person with a low BP during wd should beware of clonidine...most of the time wd/severe from strong narcotics or high doses///the bp goes up due to the stress of wd...a 60 mg hydro user would possibly see a big drop in bp due to clonidine which can cause emergency situations....a 200-300 mg oxy user who goes ct would possibly benefit from clonidine use to curb wd..it is better than methadone or sub...as it is non-narcotic...

s but only a caring doctor will give it, most would rather see you suffer....i took .1 mg of clonidine 3 times daily...worked tremendously well...if taking clonidine will help get you off your d.o.c.,...take it as your doctor has prescribed it...regardless of what you think MIGHT happen...it does help more than i can describe, i think it is a miracle drug for wd's. i took it for 10 days, then tapered for 3, it is not addictive, but you have to taper to avoid rebound high BP...

Thus the reason for the foggy head/headache during the acute phase. The clonidine helped immensely and even helps with sleep.

My doc prescribed me some 0.3 clonidine tablets ,he said it would get me thru the nasty WD ,he only gave me a script 4 six of them which is three days worth I'm suppose 2 take 1 n the am & anotha in the pm starting 2morrow 4 the next 3 days&he said I shouldn't experience any WD while. I'm on them ,just the mental part. Which ill b following up with aftercare,has or does anybody out there have any knowledge about this clonidine??????

WIkipedia says clonidine is good for reducing sweats and general "unease", but the patient must withdraw carefully from it too, in order to avoid rebound hypertension. Has anyone had experience with this? Did you experience the rebound hypertension after using clonidine? I'm considering asking my doctor for this drug because I'm still experiencing w/d symptoms after 2 weeks w/d. I've not slept for four days, too. Thanks for your help.

anyone have any info on using Clonidine .1 mg for opiate withdrawal systems? Suppose to be a high blood pressure medication, but says it can be used for withdrawal systems too? wondering if it really works?

calcium/magnesium/zinc pick it up at walmart its 6 bucks take 4 in the morning and 4 at dinner time this should take away most of your withdrawals I would try this first it works for most if not then go to the doc and get clonidine good luck with your taper I tapered off 150mg so I know what your going threw it not uncommon get the vitamins they where God sent when I found out about them good luck and God bless........
