hi.....i have never used clonidine but it's suppose to be for high BP and also can be used for anxiety from what i've read. I am on a diff med for high BP. Good luck and hope it works for you! i've read that it helps alot of people calm down thru WDs.
I use to love to drink and smoke? If a friend would call me to ask me to go out I would go. Now I don't ever go. Does a beta blocker in anyway help you to stop drinking or smoking because you think those two things would be hard to do? I found it a piece of cake!
It works really well if you taper and use the Clonidine. Clonidine is used for short term HTN to get a BP (blood pressure down) so if you note your BP going up due to W/D you could ask for a short term use of Clonidine to bring your BP down, HTN is one of the W/D symptoms. This weekend was the first time I tried the Clonidine and I am really suprised on how well it works, at first it made me fell in a deep fog and very tired but today Iam feeling alot better, more awayk.
My problem is that I am addicted and I always run out before I have money or another RX to refill and I start to experience horrible withdrawal , mostly just the full body anxiety and hot/cold sweats that makes every minute feel like an hour and I get close to being suicidal becuz I am willing to do anything to make the feeling stop. The Dr did RX me clonidine becuz I am also having high blood pressure, but since I have been taking it (only 2 1/2 days) I am feeling even worse.
Long story short. My doctor switched my Ativan to Clonidine 0.01 for my PMDD night sweats. Has anyone ever taken it for this reason? Did it work, and is 0.01 a low dose. I am afraid to take it because I don't have high BP. Just curious and nervous about taking it.

I would like to start by saying I was never a heavy opiate user, or even used long enough to believe I was addicted. I had been taking 10-20mg a day for maybe three weeks. Monday night I took four 5mg pills in an eight hour period and smoked weed as well. I began to feel nauseas and threw up, then went to bed. I woke up Tuesday morning with a migraine and violently threw up multiple times. I said to myself that day that I wouldn't do oxy anymore.
Thus the reason for the foggy head/headache during the acute phase. The clonidine helped immensely and even helps with sleep.
It is really amazing my pain is completely almost gone, with the exception of a little soreness. I have starting weaning myself from the oxy and was going to ask my doc for some clonidine. How much does it really help with the w/d symptoms?

second, my doctor prescribed two clonidine patches for me for any withdrawl symptoms. What do these do ? my doc said it woud basically knock me out...love that of course... but, i am hesitant because i had never heard of it... i know it is a little strange for a prescription lover to be afraid of a new drug...weird. but, i would like to hear about some experiences with people who have tried it before. It really works. It will not make you 100% the same as if you were taking the percs but it helps with anxiety, sleeplessness and overall feeling like crap. My doctor gave me 1.0 milligrams with a refill. She is awesome.
Yesterday was my full day 2 from all addictive substances (day 9 from Vicodin) and I had some anxiety late afternoon and evening. Took a pill each time and I was fine. Slept a full 8 hours.
My methadone doctor suggested clonidine for these symptoms, I know some of you have tried it and I was wondering if it helps much, and is it worth even taking? Thanks for your responses...
I am going hot and cold and getting hot flashes and really nauseous. My methadone doctor told me that clonidine will help these symptoms, I know some of you have tried it. I was wondering if I should start taking it, I am so uncomfortable. I know this is a slow and low taper, is it worth getting it?
