Avatar f tn In every story i have read about Clonidine being used for withdraw, the addict was only prescribed .1mg twice or three times a day. I was prescribed 15- .1mg Clonidine every 12hrs and 15- .25mg Xanax every 6hrs as needed. It was a tremendous help as far as the anxiety goes. I'd been through withdraws MANY times, and i really feel like these were a huge help in getting me through that first week. I wish i had a few more Xanax, but i made it without. I agree with bmdad...

774059 tn?1235681948 I was prescribed Clonidine for my Fentanyl patch WD symptoms. I think it helped me a little through the first symptoms, but it was a painfull process. I don't think you can ever take all the pain out of WD; it is inevitable. I was told to take it at night, but found it was actually keeping me awake. One of the side effects is insomnia, which is one of the last things I need, so I stopped taking it after a couple of weeks.
Avatar n tn What are some remodies for making the withdraw symptoms not so horrible. Like direah, vomiting, being sore, not sleeping, ect.

Avatar f tn Ya my doctor put me on a low dose of this for oxy withdraw 0.1mg twice a day for a month but i was already at 10 days sober! It really helped me to relax and stop moving my legs so much! 880900 tn?1467270141 WIkipedia says clonidine is good for reducing sweats and general "unease", but the patient must withdraw carefully from it too, in order to avoid rebound hypertension. Has anyone had experience with this? Did you experience the rebound hypertension after using clonidine? I'm considering asking my doctor for this drug because I'm still experiencing w/d symptoms after 2 weeks w/d. I've not slept for four days, too. Thanks for your help.
Avatar f tn Hi, I've been on pain meds for 15 years. I really have pain issue's, but realize they've become worse. because of medication addiction. (bodies use to always being on meds ) I really don't know what my real pain level is anymore. I know it's there, feel my RA and many other nerve issue's. I can't take it anymore i live in Florida, so all i do is worry i won't get my meds. because the drug stores don't have them lots of problems here .
Avatar m tn I talked to my heart Dr about the clonidine they gave me for my 3meds that I c/t back in 2012. He said it works a bit different then the bp meds for high blood pressure. I am going to have him explain this better when I see him. Have you ever had them go up into your heart to make sure those small vessel around the heart are not blocked?? The BP med does have adverse reaction for many and this is why you got to keep trying new ones until you find the one that works.
687098 tn?1240889420 my son 6 year and the doctor said that he suffer from Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and he advise to give him risperdal but i'm afraid to give him that medicine and i don't know if it is effective in this case or not , and if not how can i withdraw it safely , i'm a pharmacist but i have no idea about that case
Avatar n tn percocets have both oxycodonea dn tylenol in them so the amount taken cant be too severe so i wouldnt expect any thing much worse than already experienced you are doing great hang in there, if gets really abd go to a hospital or urgetn care or find soem friends(only trusted good friends, not drug buddies) and tell them the situation and you will msot likely get clonidine and a benzo prescribed and told to buy over the counter immodoum for diarrhea and anti-nauseas meds to help the stomach and th
Avatar m tn my main reason for looking info up was to see if subutex was as bad to withdraw from as methadone. i was on methadone for 51/2 years and started to withdraw which was the worst pain i've ever experienced, ( even worse than child birth cos at least you know it will be over soon), but in day 2 i found out i was pregnant so quickly got onto subutex 4mg. i'm down to 1.2mg and am sick to death of the daily chemist visits and not being able to travel etc.
Avatar m tn Hello...I've been on 15 10mg vikes for a year now and have decided to go CT starting Friday. I've been through it before, but I wasn't taking as much then. I've got access to a few meds to "hopefully" make things easier and wanted some input on what you all think. I'm new to this sight and it looks very helpful to people suffering from my same situation and would really appreciate your insight from experience.
Avatar f tn true, there are much better, safer meds to help you with withdrawals like, clonidine, bentyl for stomach cramps and maybe valium. Stay away from ultram.
Avatar f tn I USE VALIUM, ONCE ADAY VITIMAN, AND HAD MY DOCTOR GIVVE ME CLONIDINE
1032898 tn?1258598707 I've been on pain medication for several years, my doc is now cutting me off. I'm scared to death about the withdraws. I've been told to take clonidine to help with the symptoms, not sure if that is the trick. I also have zanaxx and sleeping meds also. I've called my doc to ask for more meds and to let him know about the withdraw symptom's I've had so far.
Avatar f tn That's a pretty low dose of clonidine for opiate withdrawal!! I'm on .2mg twice a day, and that's the lowest dose they should start out for withdrawal....or that's what my doc said yesterday because he was going to increase it to .3 twice a day. Maybe call them back and let them know the problems you're having. I do know that 1.4mg can be given safely so that should say how low a dose you're on. Hope this helps and hope you get some relief!!!! God bless!
Avatar n tn i was scared crapless...clonidine unfortunately is great for opiate wd but for benzo wd it wont be as helpful, it may help the restlessness youll ahve and maybe the rebound insomnia youll experience...gabapentin or lyrica(pregabalin) are prescription meds that act on the GABA neurotransmitters that benzos also work on and can ease the wds quite a bit, lyrica is a predesessor of gabapentin and is about 50% stronger..you can also look into hydroxyzine, soma, and baclofen...
Avatar m tn You could call the dr office and ask them to prescribe Clonidine for you. It is a blood pressure med that helps with opiate WD. Look up the Thomas Recipe under Most Viewed Health Pages bottom right hand corner of this page. You can ask dr for the benzos if you want and buy the rest at the pharmacy/health food store. What you are experiencing is normal. We have all been thru it. It should last 3 - 5 days. Getting the items I suggested will help. Good luck.
Avatar f tn second day without the pain pills! But the doctor today gave me gabapentin for pain is it addictive? I dont need another addiction.
Avatar n tn understand what your going through, I really believe with methadone withdrawals the answer is time, but theirs a few things one can do to make themselves more comfortable, such as warmbaths, clonidine, melatonin for sleep, taking vitamins, eating healthy, & having a positve attitude. Also taking street methadone will only prolong the process of detoxification.
Avatar n tn I have been taking about 40-50mg a day of morphine intravenously for about a month. I'd like to stop and would like to know how intense of withdraw symptoms I should expect if I quit cold turkey. I've done research on the web but haven't come up with any conclusive answers. thanks!
