Avatar m tn I took Clonidine for several days during detox. It really did make a difference in helping with my withdrawl symptoms. Helped to keep me calmer and in my skin. I also had a few tranzene that I took ( I cut them in halves ) . These two things along with the Immodium and otc pain meds were a hugh help for me.
Avatar m tn anyone have any info on using Clonidine .1 mg for opiate withdrawal systems? Suppose to be a high blood pressure medication, but says it can be used for withdrawal systems too? wondering if it really works?
981443 tn?1250115802 hey all the hymans rls worked for me but the lightning bolts went threw my hands so if u can deal with the hands more than your feet then i would advise the hymans i am only on my 2nd day today but i am very happy for this to be coming to an end i am so ready to get my life back in order i have 4 more days on clonidine then its all myself from there
410406 tn?1209480659 Clonodine does work for RLS. It's great you are down to 3 from 15. The tired feeling is just part of it. Be careful with the xanax, I became addicted to that on top of opiates and it is really dangerous to come off of. If you are only taking one a night though, and can keep it at that good for you, because it will help you sleep and also help the RLS. Congratulations!
965428 tn?1322771224 i was wondering if anyone heard of clonidine and can give me any info id appriciate it my dr just perscribed it for me cause i have been having anxiety ALOT and trouble sleeping and its from going CT from vics thanks god bless you
Avatar f tn HI there..can you call your doctor and ask? Even a nurse or pharmacist might be able to tell you.. Sorry, I have no idea.. but wishing you lots of luck.
Avatar n tn Thanks for Your response, I heard clonidine help with w/d, has anyone had any success?
424839 tn?1268186246 Now I really have not felt the w/d all that bad plus I got the clonidine and anti depressants and something for the RLS so there doing me right I am off of the habit forming drugs and on my way to a clean and sober life. I thank everyone for the suggestion about the clonidine it helps allot. Just so you know I was on loracets and vics for 4 years daily use when I stopped I was at 10-12 vics away sometimes more.
Avatar f tn PERSCRIBED NOTHING REALLY WORKED FULLY UNTIL I USE THE CLONIDINE .IT IS PERCRIBED FOR RLS ,I TAPERED OF THE CLONIDINE AFTER THE W/DS WERE OVER BUT I JUST WENT FOR A PHYSICAL LAST WEEK AND TO MAKE SURE MY KIDNEYS WERENT SWISS CHEESE BUT ANYWAY HE PUT ME BACK ON IT FOR MY BLOODPRESSURE AND THE RLS. NEVER HAD NO TROUBLE WITH BLOODPREESURE IT NOW THE PERCS WERE SPIKING MY LEVELS NOT GOOD! BUT CHECK FIRST WITH THE DR. BUT I HAVENT HAD A BAD NIGHT DUE TO RLS SINCE.
Avatar m tn It is really amazing my pain is completely almost gone, with the exception of a little soreness. I have starting weaning myself from the oxy and was going to ask my doc for some clonidine. How much does it really help with the w/d symptoms?
Avatar n tn There are things you can do for the rls.. Bananas are good as they have a lot of potassium, Tonic Water is good for the Quinine.. I used a knock off of a product called Hylands restful leg it dissolves under your tongue.. I found it to be very beneficial.. add Valerian Root for the anxiety and it will help to ease the process.. also wrapping your legs snugly with ace bandages help as does Walking.. Walking is the best for a majority of the symptoms..
203003 tn?1210855907 If I were doing this over, I would go through my doctor and ask to be tapered and have supporting meds (including clonidine). I just use Ambien CR at night...help with the RLS and getting good sleep. I wish I would of had the clonidine...a LOT of people use that to help themselves get clean. Seriously, hang in there. Another trick, I used Robitussian Cold and Cough on Day 3 for bad stomach pains. It's with Dextromorphan in it. It's been shown to help with withdrawal...
Avatar n tn Hi! I am thinking you are talking about neurontin/gabapentin? It helps RLS during WDs I think. I took it once, and it did seem to help it a little. Clonidine, a BP med, helps a lot too. Both have to be given by a doctor, and you have to be careful with both meds. Clonidine can lower the BP too much!
Avatar f tn I did not get rls either...yeat anyway...i exercise alot ho...i do get rubberband legs tho...lol weakness and fatigue at times...
710547 tn?1295446030 I have had what I call RLS, off and on for years. I don't have periodic limb movement - sleep studies have confirmed. I have a need to tense and contract my muscles - legs, arms, and at times, even my torso. It's as though a toxin is in my muscles which only contracting them constantly relieves. I know that is how many describe it, but it often gets confused with the movement disorder. I have low iron, and have had to have infusions before.
Avatar f tn I can tell when I am busy caring for them, I do feel better and it takes my mind off of everything. I just wanted to come on here for support. I will NEVER be taking them again, so this is it. I have no way to get them anymore and I am done. I was on them for so many years. I was up to 15-20 a day at my worst time. I have only been on 2-3 a day since I came down in dosage a couple months ago.
Avatar f tn I'm glad you found something that worked. RLS was the worst for me too. Ropinirole is sold in the US as Requip. It was originally prescribed for Parkinson' Disease and then it was discovered that it works for RLS. Keep going forward. It will be over soon.
Avatar n tn There are non-narcotic perscriptions helpers for many symptoms such as Klonopin for sleep/RLS, Clonidine for sleep/crawling skin, and cold sweats. They may advise an Anti-depressent for a few months. I did it with: First 72 (Day1 to 3) hrs Pedialite popsicles and boost or ensure high protein and OTC anti-nausea medication to keep the fluids down and keep hydrated. You feel so much better after being hydrated. Hot Epson Salt baths help ease the skin crawling and skin burning/freezing and RLS.
Avatar f tn Drugs include carbidopa-levodopa, opioids , tramadol can be helpful for intermittent symptoms, carbamazepine, clonazepam, diazepam, triazolam, and clonidine can be used for persistant symptoms. Also, recently, gabapentin (Neurontin) has been found helpful. I suggest you to consult physician for prescription of appropriate drug in your case. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn All of the medication you ARE taking right now, combined...could cause the rls in itself. You may need to just buckle down here for a few days and get though this.
Avatar f tn I posted this in my long long post about opioid withdrawals but no luck so I thought I would do a new thread.... I am coming off percocet 7.5\325 2 - 5 x a day and oxy 20 mg 2 - 3 x a day for the past couple years. I have a script for clonidine .1 which isn't doing much so I called my regular doc and he is going to put me on Klonopin ( Dosage unknown until I get script tomorrow). From what I can tell these are 2 totally different drugs. Has anyone used Klonopin for opioid withdrawls?
Avatar n tn I have been on Clonidine for about a year for my blood pressure, but it helped alot with the w/d's. It doesn't take all the w/d's away but I would say it takes away about 75% of them. Taking that helped me function but I still had the rls and headache. It doesn't help with the mental part at all though so be prepared for that. As TinHead said you don't want to stop Clonidine cold turkey because it can cause you blood pressure to go through the roof...
1335947 tn?1275685447 My doctor just prescribed clonidine for me and said to pick it up at the pharmacy. There were no further instructions. He suggested I taper off even though I am 5 days cold turkey. I prefer to stick with cold turkey, but want to know if anyone has experience with clonidine. Many thanks.
Avatar f tn Hi, I've been on pain meds for 15 years. I really have pain issue's, but realize they've become worse. because of medication addiction. (bodies use to always being on meds ) I really don't know what my real pain level is anymore. I know it's there, feel my RA and many other nerve issue's. I can't take it anymore i live in Florida, so all i do is worry i won't get my meds. because the drug stores don't have them lots of problems here .
Avatar n tn The hot baths really help...the other thing for me that helps is stretching/working out...it knocks it out for at least 6 hrs.....anyway i have found this to work for me...the problem is you have to get motivated 1st..that's the hard part....no pain...no gain!!!
Avatar f tn I don't really know much about neurotin. I took it before early in my addiction to pills if I would run out of my drug of choice. I know it calmed me and I have read from some of the people here that it does help with the withdrawls, I hope you get the answer you're looking for. Goodluck.
