clonidine for diarrhea

He is going to put me on Clonidine 3x a day for 7 days. I also asked him to prescribe something for the diarrhea as well as the aches in pains. I am concerned that after getting off the pain meds completely I will be start experiencing the pain in my back again, but I will not want to get back on anything that strong or anything that is addictive. I am praying that I can get off these by just sticking it out with the clonidine.

I went to see my doc and he wants me to continue taking the conidine and ativan but to reduce the clonidine to .1 for two days, then 05 for a day then stop it. He advised just to take the avtivan at night until I can fall alseep on my own. He also gave me some roxicet and told me to take 3 today, 2 tomorrow and one the next day. He claims this will help me with cravings until I get into rehab where I can get something tradition for the craving...I start rehab on Monday and it lasts 5 weeks.....

I posted this in my long long post about opioid withdrawals but no luck so I thought I would do a new thread.... I am coming off percocet 7.5\325 2 - 5 x a day and oxy 20 mg 2 - 3 x a day for the past couple years. I have a script for clonidine .1 which isn't doing much so I called my regular doc and he is going to put me on Klonopin ( Dosage unknown until I get script tomorrow). From what I can tell these are 2 totally different drugs. Has anyone used Klonopin for opioid withdrawls?

The librium and clonidine are to help you not feel the symptoms (or feel less of them) of w/d. They don't delay w/d if that's what you are asking. The diarrhea is a sign that your body is experiencing w/d. Be thankful the librium and clonidine are working so well. You can take immodium for the runs on top of the other two meds.

I have to recommend to anyone who wants to quit cold turkey to try a drug called Clonidine. I am wearing the patch for 7 days and then I take it off. It has helped tremendously with withdrawals. I have been able to eat and no diarrhea. I have had a lot of anxiety in the beginning so I just took Valium. You have to really watch and talk to your doc about what aminos you take if you use the clonidine. look it up and read about it, i highly recommend it.

The clonidine helps more than anything and that's an appropriate dose. Do you still have Hydrocodone available to you? You need to get rid of it if you do. What do you plan to do differently this time?

Clonidine is a must for opiate WD's. At least it was for me. I'm 18 days sober today becauase of it.

For the last 5 yrs I've been taken the clonidine patch for high BP, no side effects, but the PVC's are still there off and on.

I am taking clonidine for my Subutex withdrawal. It has definetly helped with the anxious creepy crawly feeling. It also helped with hot flashes. I wasn't given any info on not to mix it with pain meds, but you may want to call you doctor to find out. Or even a pharmacist might be able to tell. good luck!

i want to start this detox cold turkey today from oxy snorting 3-4 a day my doctor i asked him for clonidine and he gave me atenolol 50 mg twice a day instead not getting anyone to let me know i googled it is used for alcohol withdrawals... can find anything on it .... will it work as well or the same as clonidine? also he gave me tramadol which i already no i very addicting to, but he said do not abuse and take only when needed it will be alot of help. i also have .

1mg at 10am, 4 pm since i started and trazodone 100mg at night for sleep... anyone have experience with these? ive heard clonidine if you just stop taking it it can spike your blood pressure... and trazodone is addictive? i dunno.... anyway any comments would help.. i was gonna start today by reducing the trazodone in half and tomorrow cut back to just one clonidine a day for 3 more days... sound alright?

After a severe wreck breaking my back I was sent to a pain management doctor in 2006. Started out with no education with opiates and other meds. Started out taking them as prescribed and them moving on the other ways for the quicker high I realized I was a full blown addict. The Dr was raising/changing my meds every several months.

Yes I had a few ups and downs but never like going from 25 to 12.5. I am shaking, anxious, have akasthesia, diarrhea and most of all I feel so tired I can't move....all achy. So i am now 31 hours clean off a 3.5 year increasing addiction to percocet (got up to 100mg per day). I am wearing the clonodine patch and taking klonopin which keeps me pretty sleepy. When should I expect the real symptoms to kick in? So far it's just been diarrhea cravings and some problems sleeping -- but I slept all day. What should I be expecting?

imodium affects the same receptor sites/was originally formulated as a narcotic but was a bomb,,,but causes constipation like narcs do///1 or 2 stops the runds all day for many...if u took enuf to feel relief from wd ur bowels would be concrete!

Go to your doctor and see if you can get a prescription for a drug called Clonidine. Clonidine was originally developed for high blood pressure and they found it had an odd side effect. It helps people with withdrawals from alcohol and opiates. I've tried to quit 3 times prior to this and really I was only serious about 1 of them. Clonidine will cut withdrawals noticeably. It's different for every person of course. Drugs usually don't work for me favorably....
