Avatar f tn t used much for blood pressure anymore. It is used in pain management, though, and also is given to people who are going through withdrawals. I have been on it for a while for pain management (along with other things.) I'm not sure if it does much as far as pain goes. It doesn't affect my blood pressure either way. If you trust your doctor, I wouldn't worry too much about it. You could always ask the pharmacist what their opinion is.
Avatar m tn HOW DOES A DOCTOR KNOW WHEN YOU ARE GOING TO PAIN MANAGEMENT AND YOU CAN GET GET DROPPED FROM THE PAIN MANAGEMENT
970581 tn?1248407961 My mother has been prescribed many opiates for pain management for several years now. It has caused her some severe health issues, central sleep apnea, all kinds of stuff. Now they are checking for brain damage due to long term opiate abuse. She has been off all opiates for 22 days but had a 1 week suboxone taper. So now she has been off everything for 2 weeks. They did a drug test and she tested positive. Is it possible for some of this stuff to still be showing up on drug tests.
6815927 tn?1395511425 Thephoenix75, i have used gabepentin and clonidine and i am currently on clonidine and it does help so I would recommend it I am NOT a doctor so talk to your pcp and see what she says... gabepentin is also good to use for wd. I have Backpain coming from a car accident that occurred 14 years ago and i am on fentanyl 100 mcg q 48 hrs and percocet 10/325 8 daily mdd and also oxymoronphone 40mg 2 daily mdd...
Avatar m tn four years ago for pain management, not for detox. It took me almost 2 years to taper of of subox, but when I got down to 0.25mg, the doctor put me on this Clonidine. Is my feeling good only because of this new medication? Am I going to need to taper off of something else now? WTF? I really need to know because I want to be off of any and all medications and not dependent on something else.
Avatar n tn I started making calls myself and I found a neurosurgeon and am waiting on my next appointment with him. I also asked my doctor to give me a referral for pain management. I am waititng to hear from them with an appoinment date now. My current issue is that I asked my doc to not write a new prescription for the patches......that is really making me feel bad and causing me to take a few more pills than I normally would.
1162610 tn?1262829016 I went to see my pain management doctor today to talk about getting me off hydrocodone. So, he's prescribed clonidine: 0.1 mg tab, 2 times a day to help with the withdrawal symptoms. He's also prescribed Tramadol 50 mg tab, 4 times a day. I also told him I had been depending on the hydrocodone to get to sleep, so he prescribed Ambien to help with that too.
Avatar f tn My daughter has a mild form of Spina Bifida and she does ALOT of lower back and stomach excercises to help her with pain. Not trying to downplay your pain, but where is it and how much????? If not too private?
176495 tn?1301280412 One thing is for certain - If I were in your shoes I would be looking for a new PCP that you guys can trust --- this one chooses to not believe you and that spells trouble down the road - -- I would certainly find a doctor who would listen to your story and then treat your wife ------ A good pain management doctor is worth his weight in gold - --- We had a very similar experience and it was eventually resolved when the doctor took a personal interest in my wife and began to treat the pain ----
Avatar n tn As Lulu747 I also used clonidine while tapering off opiates and just wanted off and went cold turkey over a year ago. (morphine sulfate and fentanyl patch). The clonidine did help with my w/d symptoms as well.
722310 tn?1234762137 I am desperately trying to cut back on the clonidine and zanaflex and I am experiencing terrible w/d symptoms. (heart racing, anxiety, sweating, pain, nausea, etc.) Could I be still having w/d from the tramadol or is it the other meds causing it? Did I just give up one addictive drug for 2 others? I am so tired of this continuous roller-coaster of chronic pain, meds, w/d's, pain... The dr has also put me on Cymbalta, it has been 7 weeks. It doesn't seem to be doing very much.
Avatar n tn my son takes clonidine, he has adhd and the drugs he takes to treat the adhd stop him sleeping so he takes the clonidine for that. didnt know it could be used to help with w/d's, apparently clonidine started life as a treatment for high blood pressure but now has many uses. dont know if there are w/d's from clonidine but my sons doc told us never to take him straight of it because it would cause his blood pressure to rocket.
Avatar n tn After about 4 months of using Clonodine patches, and changing it once a week as prescribed by my Pain Managment doctor, I started getting a severe skin reaction after only one day. Then, I would have to move the patch twice a day. My arm looks like a checkerboard with red, itchy patches. Well, the doctor said my skin developed an allergy to it and gave me a prescription for clonodine pills.
Avatar f tn Has your doctor offered to put you on Clonidine for the withdrawls? I work for a pain management practice and we can call in a script for Clonidine to help with the withdrawls. You might want to check into this. Good Luck! You can do it.
Avatar m tn Because my md said he wanted the nuro to handle my pain management but the nuro said he is a surgeon and not pain management. My carido dr said when I met with him that I need to get a new md, and he knows who I go to. He said he should not have changed the medication as long as I was not abusing it and only taking 3 a day.
Avatar m tn I am presently going through withdrawl symptoms everyday such a muscle and bone pain, sweating, mood changes, etc. I have been very uncomfortable using this drug as I reached my tolerance months ago and my body is now requesting that I give it a higher dose. Which I do not want to do, as I want to slowly detox myself off of this medication. Thank you for your assistance!
5135507 tn?1367163227 Hi, I was on the fentanyl patch, 75mcg every 48 hours and Percocet 10/650. My pain management dr was fired. Cannot find a dr even tho i've had 3 back surgeries. How can I detox off these drugs i've been on for 5 years? Does Clonidine help?

Avatar f tn Was on norco for 1 year. I have hep c so norco is bad for your liver. My pain management doctor changed me to present. Better for my liver. But after 3 months I needed more per day because they stopped working at minimum dose. I decided to just start dosing down but that was hard also. I ended up throwing them out and just detoxing off them with clonidine. Took me a week too start feeling better. I am on week 3 and not taking anything.
Avatar m tn Neurontin can stop the RLS symptoms and help with pain. It is a prescription and I was told you should start low and then build on the medication. However, it all depends on what your doctor thinks. It worked for me, however, it did have some side effects and I can't take it anymore. It did get me through the RLS as well as the pain from the withdrawal. There are some over the counter things you can try and for some, these medications seem to work very well.
Avatar m tn t believe you asked about OPANA ER! My Pain Management Doctor prescribed it for me 2 1/2 weeks ago, and I only took it for maybe 2 days, and not even at the dose HE prescribed. I got SO sick, and I never even thought abou the fact that I broke out on my face, neck, and chest! I just thought it was nerves because I was off all my pain meds...I gave the entire bottle of OPANA ER, all 240 tablets, minus the few I took Back to the doctor,,,,they made me SO SICK! and I DID get a rash!
Avatar m tn After a severe wreck breaking my back I was sent to a pain management doctor in 2006. Started out with no education with opiates and other meds. Started out taking them as prescribed and them moving on the other ways for the quicker high I realized I was a full blown addict. The Dr was raising/changing my meds every several months. Anyways fast forward it to May 2010. I am trying to change my life around for many reasons.

795648 tn?1237252599 and I was taking immodium during my detox while on clonidine. If you want to be safe go to drugs.com and look up clonidine and it will tell you all the possible interactions it can have. As far as I know there shouldnt be anything to worry about. I would stay away from any medication that would lower your BP even further I suppose that could cause a problem but dont know of any otc products that do lower bp. Hope this helps, take care.

Avatar f tn This can be spinal cord injury pain, segmental pain that can be associated with allodynia and hyperalgesia in the painful region. Nerve root entrapment pain and syringomyelia are other groups of neuropathic pain. The other category of pain is musculoskeletal due to secondary overuse and muscle spasms after spinal cord injury and surgery. Pain management includes treatment with medications, modified activities or combination.
