clonidine and diarrhea

Thanks to your encouragment, I went to my doctor and told her the absolute truth. It was hard, but I'm glad I did it. She gave me 2 meds for withdrawl symptoms - Clonidine and Hydroxyzine Pamoate. I took them and slept all afternoon. Now I feel spacey - it was a huge effort to get out of bed. I don't know how I am going to operate and have a normal life like this - thank goodness it's Friday and I have the weekend without work.

So i am now 31 hours clean off a 3.5 year increasing addiction to percocet (got up to 100mg per day). I am wearing the clonodine patch and taking klonopin which keeps me pretty sleepy. When should I expect the real symptoms to kick in? So far it's just been diarrhea cravings and some problems sleeping -- but I slept all day. What should I be expecting?

The librium and clonidine are to help you not feel the symptoms (or feel less of them) of w/d. They don't delay w/d if that's what you are asking. The diarrhea is a sign that your body is experiencing w/d. Be thankful the librium and clonidine are working so well. You can take immodium for the runs on top of the other two meds.

I have to recommend to anyone who wants to quit cold turkey to try a drug called Clonidine. I am wearing the patch for 7 days and then I take it off. It has helped tremendously with withdrawals. I have been able to eat and no diarrhea. I have had a lot of anxiety in the beginning so I just took Valium. You have to really watch and talk to your doc about what aminos you take if you use the clonidine. look it up and read about it, i highly recommend it.

Usually is feels like a bad flu. Nausea , muscle ache, diarrhea and etc.. How severe and how long is different for every person. It is always safer to have a doctor follow the patient through this process. Best of luck.

Take it regularly (like every 6 hours) it will help with anxiety and panic feelings. This will also drop your blood pressure slightly and along with the diarrhea and atenolol......stay well hydrated with lots of gatorade and other drinks with electrolytes (sodium, potassium etc...sports drinks). The lexapro will be helpful also, however, remember that you will not feel the full effectiveness of it for about 2 weeks.

Has anyone any experience with Clonidine and Lassix in pregnancy? Do they cause miscarriages?

the clonidine helps a lot with the sweats, chills, and blood pressure fluctuations, the benzos are extremely helpful in stopping the insane anxiety, insomnia, muscle cramping and spasms, and restlessness. then i would get OTC immodium and an anti-diarrhea, and a OTC anti-nausea medicine. i also had some ambien for sleep as well. my detox was done in a hospital supervised but you can do it on your own if you think you can handle that.

The clonidine helps more than anything and that's an appropriate dose. Do you still have Hydrocodone available to you? You need to get rid of it if you do. What do you plan to do differently this time?

As Lulu747 I also used clonidine while tapering off opiates and just wanted off and went cold turkey over a year ago. (morphine sulfate and fentanyl patch). The clonidine did help with my w/d symptoms as well.

my son takes clonidine, he has adhd and the drugs he takes to treat the adhd stop him sleeping so he takes the clonidine for that. didnt know it could be used to help with w/d's, apparently clonidine started life as a treatment for high blood pressure but now has many uses. dont know if there are w/d's from clonidine but my sons doc told us never to take him straight of it because it would cause his blood pressure to rocket.

Yes I had a few ups and downs but never like going from 25 to 12.5. I am shaking, anxious, have akasthesia, diarrhea and most of all I feel so tired I can't move....all achy. I don't want to go back up on the dose but I also don't want to suffer. I have. Been on this a year. Please advise! How long to get accustomed to 12,5? Thank you.

He is going to put me on Clonidine 3x a day for 7 days. I also asked him to prescribe something for the diarrhea as well as the aches in pains. I am concerned that after getting off the pain meds completely I will be start experiencing the pain in my back again, but I will not want to get back on anything that strong or anything that is addictive. I am praying that I can get off these by just sticking it out with the clonidine.

Hello, yes I have been taking this combination of Vyvanse (70mg per day in the am) and Clonidine (0.2mg in the afternoon and 0.2mg at night). I highly prefer Vyvanse over adderall because I do not suffer from side effects w/Vyvanse as with the adderall. The Vyvanse is much smoother than most all other adhd drugs. I have never experienced shortness of breath while taking Vyvanse, however, I am 25 years old and 180lbs. I am also a Registered Nurse.

t want to go back to same clinic and I no longer had much money for it anyway. I did research and ordered Clonidine, Atarax, and Catapres from an online pharmacy which would ship without Rx. Results weren't very positive. Clonidine didn't do much for me, Atarax helped me sleep a bit and Catapres didn't do a while lot either. I don't remember the dose I took of Clonidine but they were .15mg pills, so I prob took one twice a day.

I have restless arms instead of legs and it drives me crazy! Other symptoms are being handled by imodium and clonidine. I have had no pills since the 2 I took at about 3 pm on Saturday, so what day is this???

My son is ADHD and was having alot of trouble sleping at night and was prescribed clonidine. It had not affect on him and he continued to wake up and wander during the night. I discovered that this medication is a blood pressure medication and our pediatrician was not monitoring him while he was on this. We also have tried the melatonin and he was up to 3mg a night and it had no affect.

Ive always liked to use clonidine when I was detoxing, it did help relax me and lessen some of jittery,nervous energy. Hopefully the clonidine helps ease some of the symptoms, I would also get some immodium, some short of short term sleeping aid and lots of fluids. t have good health insurance and a standard physician prescribes their psychiatric medications which is not advisable. I am assuming you are seeing a psychiatrist and as for Clonidine and Effexor interacting I have not heard of that one but you should ask them to look it up. They all have a PDR and more importantly I know my psychopharmocologist has a palm pilot where he can look up any medications and see how they interact and has access to information that only a physician would.

I ran out two weeks early. I was honest with my dr and he put me on clonidine 3 pills a day for 3 days and a patch. It worked I almost feel like my old self. When he refills my meds next week I'm going to not take them unless I am in extreme pain. Learned my lesson!

I am already starting to get withdrawal symptoms which surprises me as this is not really a small dose. I am going hot and cold and getting hot flashes and really nauseous. My methadone doctor told me that clonidine will help these symptoms, I know some of you have tried it. I was wondering if I should start taking it, I am so uncomfortable. I know this is a slow and low taper, is it worth getting it?

WIkipedia says clonidine is good for reducing sweats and general "unease", but the patient must withdraw carefully from it too, in order to avoid rebound hypertension. Has anyone had experience with this? Did you experience the rebound hypertension after using clonidine? I'm considering asking my doctor for this drug because I'm still experiencing w/d symptoms after 2 weeks w/d. I've not slept for four days, too. Thanks for your help.

I started Clonidine three days ago for very high bp. It causes me to have bad breath and stay very thirsty.. How are you doing with it. Suppose to be on it for a month. Do you have any of this ?
