clonidine and alcohol

I too would recommend trying the Clonidine. As others have said, it is an anti-hypertensive medication that does help to relieve w/d symptoms quite successfully. It will not take them away completely, but it will minimize some of the symptoms, by reducing the sympathetic nervous system response, such as tachycardia and high BP. It's not a habit-forming drug, and really, the biggest consideration is some hypotension (low BP).

I do have xanax and my son is on ritalin with clonidine to sleep. I was not a heavy user, just 2 pills a day. ANy suggestions.

just dont drink any alcohol with it it takes away the strenght of the clonidine no more than 900 mcg daily for detox of opiates and methadome and for the alcohol and the benzos. hope this helps feel free to ask! if you dont ask you dont find out right!

i want to start this detox cold turkey today from oxy snorting 3-4 a day my doctor i asked him for clonidine and he gave me atenolol 50 mg twice a day instead not getting anyone to let me know i googled it is used for alcohol withdrawals... can find anything on it .... will it work as well or the same as clonidine? also he gave me tramadol which i already no i very addicting to, but he said do not abuse and take only when needed it will be alot of help. i also have .

Has anyone Sucessfully gotten off of Clonidine? If so - How did you do it? What were the Withdrals Symptoms? And How Long did it take? I am already on the DASH Diet - If I add an excercise regimine - Could I successfully be able to withaw from the Clonidine? I have bad Kidney Disease from a drug one doctor gave me that damaged my Kidneys - so my Blood Pressure has been really high. That's when another doctor put me on Clonidine.

Now Iam missing so many days of work, Iam not my productive self anymore, I have tried 4 times to detox myself from both, what really has a hold if me is the norcos , because of how mentally dependent they r and I actually admitted to my husband yesterday of my norco use, he knew about the alcohol and did not like or condone it any bit, thank god he was very supportive and wants to help by all means.

and it is good to talk to ur doctor if it is getting above 140/90.....

Has anyone any experience with Clonidine and Lassix in pregnancy? Do they cause miscarriages?

Today is Day 2 off of everything but Day 9 off of my DOC - Vicodin 5/325. After being off for 5 days, I took half a Tramadol for 4 days (which I am not recommending that anyone else do). I was desperate because I was using alcohol on Days 3 - 5 and I had to find something so I wouldn't do that. I am not having any symptoms yet which I am happy about my also worried that the symptoms are going to hit me out of the blue and catch me off-guard. The doctor gave me Clonidine for anxiety.

As Lulu747 I also used clonidine while tapering off opiates and just wanted off and went cold turkey over a year ago. (morphine sulfate and fentanyl patch). The clonidine did help with my w/d symptoms as well.

my son takes clonidine, he has adhd and the drugs he takes to treat the adhd stop him sleeping so he takes the clonidine for that. didnt know it could be used to help with w/d's, apparently clonidine started life as a treatment for high blood pressure but now has many uses. dont know if there are w/d's from clonidine but my sons doc told us never to take him straight of it because it would cause his blood pressure to rocket.

Hello, yes I have been taking this combination of Vyvanse (70mg per day in the am) and Clonidine (0.2mg in the afternoon and 0.2mg at night). I highly prefer Vyvanse over adderall because I do not suffer from side effects w/Vyvanse as with the adderall. The Vyvanse is much smoother than most all other adhd drugs. I have never experienced shortness of breath while taking Vyvanse, however, I am 25 years old and 180lbs. I am also a Registered Nurse.

I am 6'1", 195 lb, 35 yrs. I take clonidine and lisinopril for high blood pressure. I take no other medications. I do not use drugs. I do not smoke. I do drink but not very much. I have taken up aerobic exercise, but I have had to discontinue it. Just a brisk walk for half an hour and my diastolic bp goes from 80 to 115. I get headaces. My eyes hurt. The level it reaches during exercise I don't want to think about.

t want to go back to same clinic and I no longer had much money for it anyway. I did research and ordered Clonidine, Atarax, and Catapres from an online pharmacy which would ship without Rx. Results weren't very positive. Clonidine didn't do much for me, Atarax helped me sleep a bit and Catapres didn't do a while lot either. I don't remember the dose I took of Clonidine but they were .15mg pills, so I prob took one twice a day.

My son is ADHD and was having alot of trouble sleping at night and was prescribed clonidine. It had not affect on him and he continued to wake up and wander during the night. I discovered that this medication is a blood pressure medication and our pediatrician was not monitoring him while he was on this. We also have tried the melatonin and he was up to 3mg a night and it had no affect.

Ive always liked to use clonidine when I was detoxing, it did help relax me and lessen some of jittery,nervous energy. Hopefully the clonidine helps ease some of the symptoms, I would also get some immodium, some short of short term sleeping aid and lots of fluids. The vitamins and amino acids can really help with getting some energy, but thats all up to you. I wish you the best of luck, you can do this!

1mg - Robaxin 500/ - Bentyl 10/ - i know that robaxin is for muslces and the clonidine ( i googled) and said it was for hypertension. will these work for me? has anyone else had experience with any of these. they seem to be very low doses, i'm worried with tolerence level, they won't help me. I feel like i had the flu, but coming out of it, but now the depression and anxiety are really kicking in, palpations at times... any information would be greatly appreciated. thanks!!!

t have good health insurance and a standard physician prescribes their psychiatric medications which is not advisable. I am assuming you are seeing a psychiatrist and as for Clonidine and Effexor interacting I have not heard of that one but you should ask them to look it up. They all have a PDR and more importantly I know my psychopharmocologist has a palm pilot where he can look up any medications and see how they interact and has access to information that only a physician would.

I ran out two weeks early. I was honest with my dr and he put me on clonidine 3 pills a day for 3 days and a patch. It worked I almost feel like my old self. When he refills my meds next week I'm going to not take them unless I am in extreme pain. Learned my lesson!

I am already starting to get withdrawal symptoms which surprises me as this is not really a small dose. I am going hot and cold and getting hot flashes and really nauseous. My methadone doctor told me that clonidine will help these symptoms, I know some of you have tried it. I was wondering if I should start taking it, I am so uncomfortable. I know this is a slow and low taper, is it worth getting it?

WIkipedia says clonidine is good for reducing sweats and general "unease", but the patient must withdraw carefully from it too, in order to avoid rebound hypertension. Has anyone had experience with this? Did you experience the rebound hypertension after using clonidine? I'm considering asking my doctor for this drug because I'm still experiencing w/d symptoms after 2 weeks w/d. I've not slept for four days, too. Thanks for your help.

I started Clonidine three days ago for very high bp. It causes me to have bad breath and stay very thirsty.. How are you doing with it. Suppose to be on it for a month. Do you have any of this ?

Thank u! I have been thru wd before but from percs and oxys. This time its subs and I've been in them for 4 and a half yrs. I'm trying to prepare myself for what's to come. I've got myself down to 1 mg and plan to go lower but I've heard horror stories when it comes to getting off subs. The worse part of wd for me is the anxiety and chills. My heart races and I get very nervous feeling. I've heard some say clonidine helps when going through wd.
