Hello everyone
I started having severe anxiety attacks two month ago, though I have suffered with anxiety my whole life. I have been on Citalopram for four days now and the side effects seems to be increasing. I am on a small dose, one quarter of a 20 mg tablet. I am suppose to go up to one half of a 20 mg tab today but am afraid to. I am jittery, have headaches, am groggy but panic when I try to sleep, have heat flashes through my upper body, my eyes feels strange...the list goes on.
Hello, My doc has me starting citalopram for severe anxiety attacks. She has me on one quarter of a 20 mg tab for four days, then a half tab for four, three quarters for four days and finally a full twenty. Has anyone else started like this? The doc wanted to help me with side effects since I am very sensitive in the stomach. Will starting this slower make the theraputic effects take longer to show. I am desperate to feel normal again. I am on .25 of xanax to help with the transition.
I've been prescribed to citalopram and am still reducing my dosage of clonazepam(due to seizures). Is it safe to take the two together or should I wait until I'm completely off the clonazepam? I have no allergies that I'm aware of. My doctor was super busy and I forgot to ask if I should stop the clonazepam. Any help is appreciated.
I have expirenced this before and was on klonopin for 8 years. I stopped taking the klonopin this past Oct. And just recently started back on medicine last week. Last Saturday I took a half of a 25 mg. xanax ( never had it before) then on Tuesday morning I started taking 0.5mg of citalopram (celexa). Yesterday the dr told me to stop taking the celexa and continue with the xanax. Which I can take up to 4 times a day.
You probably know tht citalopram or Klonopin is highly addictive. I had a doc. try to get me to take it but I refused...I don't need an addiction on top of everything else! Why double your troubles.
If you are concerned about your drugs, ask your p-doc to prescribe something else.
I was just diagnosed with anxiety issues and they put me on xanax for the panic attacks that I can't control and also Citalopram for the daily use to keep me mello. They say I won't feel the full effect for a couple of weeks but I can feel like it's doing something because I don't have any attacks until about an half hour before I need to take my pill.

I started Citalopram 12 days ago. First week I took 10mg, then last Saturday started 15mg. I wondered if people have increased anxiety? I am having just bad restless legs, thoughts racing, but very spacy and forgetful, even though I'm super anxious. I have to take a xanax in the morning and at night to cope. The nausea SE went away, but wondered if this other is normal?
My doctor prescribed me Effexor XR and I got my prescription filled but before taking it I decided to do some research about this drug. The withdral and side affects scared me so I decided agains this drug. Then doctor priscribed me Citalopram and I've been taking it since. I have been taking citalopram 20mg a day for about 3 months. At the time of my visits to the doctor I had an insurance that covered my drugs, now I don't have my insurance any longer.
ve recently been diagnosed with mixed anxiety/depression, and the zoloft/klonopin combo works for me. i take 2x50mg Zoloft per day, and 1mg Klonopin. Talk to your doctor, and see what he/she has to say about your case. Generally, SSRIs are tricky. For eg., I tried Mirtazipine, Citalopram, Effexor before I found that Zoloft suits me!

About two weeks ago my doc switched me from citalopram to paxil .20. It seemed to completely cures the nausea and frequent runs to the bathroom. She gave me klonopin .50 to help me sleep and not wake up with the anxiety. I actually sleep almost the whole night and wasn't paniced when I did. I was feeling good. I was still taking four xanax .25 a day, but began to ween off. Now I am down to one a day. I have been feeling good. I have been able to eat. I was not as afraid to be alone.
ve been on various anti-depressants and anti-anxiety medication before and some work a little (Citalopram) and some just made me want to kill myself (seroxat). I've also been to doctors, specialists, psycologists & psychiatrists too.
Has anyone else had such severity? I'm at my wits end and suffering in silence now! I regularly think about suicide and day dream about death in my family and dying.

Anyways told my doc about panic attacks before and he prescribed 20mg citalopram i havent collected them yet and wasnt planning on it but now my panic and anxiety is so bad i cant carry on with uni like this. The thought of taking them scares me though, in addition to reading all the side effects a pill affecting my brain chemistry is worrying :-/ and i need to be able to carry on with school I dont have time off!!! Nobody knows im even having these problems...
Buspar did nothing for my anxiety. I take Celexa and klonopin ( tapered down to under a mg. per day) Celexa does help. My doc took it for anxiety, himself.
i was started on 10 mg citalopram after a weak the side effects of severe tremors, sweating , agitation, headaches, and muscle tightness seemed unbearable. I have been reduced to 5 mg (taking in the morning with .5 mg klonipan) with the option of taking a second klonapin during the day which I have been doing. However the tremors are still there as well as extreme sweating, and muscle tightness. (I have been on this dose for approximately 2 weeks.

Basically escitalopram is the new citalopram with less side-effects and requires only half the dosage and I think it is the reason for it's cheaper price.

I have been on citalopram for six days and xanax for a month for bad anxiety attacks and all day long anxiety. The mornings are so much worse. Yesterday I had a fairly good day. I felt there was some hope of getting back to myself. In the middle of the night I woke with anxiety attacks and haven't shaken them yet. I am cold, shakey, vomiting, hot through my chest and arms, I can't eat, I keep feeling like I need to pee, I am jittery...the list goes on.
