Chest tightness upon awakening

Common Questions and Answers about Chest tightness upon awakening

chest

I am a 48 year old female. I have a problem with total boby tingling upon waking, even my head and face, sometimes feeling like I have been breathing too shallow. This has been happening for about one yr. I occassionally have tingling throughtout the day in my legs, arms, and scalp. I spoke to my pcp about this problem and he said "That doesn't make since" and changed the subject. When sleeping I periodically wake with an arm, leg, or my side tingling.
For a few years now, I've been getting a red blotchy chest/neck rash in circumstances where I - am drinking alcohol, anxious, nervous, excited, upset - really feeling just about any emotion. It's gotten to the point where I do not expose my chest/neck ever - and cover up whenever I can. I had read once that taking Niacinimide could help - and I've been taking about 1000mg of it for a few months, but am not seeing much improvement.
Hi Hudy, Sometimes the dr ring up is much much more quicker than we ring up ourselves. When I rang my cardio, the nurse/receiptionist said the closer appointment which available will be 2 months away. The GP thought it was too long to wait for so he rang from his clinic. The nurse gave him the appointment in 1.5 weeks time. I can understand your feeling. If it turns out in the dr, I think he/she wants to get see or fix within a week.
I am all yellow bile now, all day long-worse at night and upon awakening. The chest pain, irregular heart, tightness, is certainly alarming, but it's the GI stuff that has me nearly chair ridden! Laying down is often WAY too painful. My symptoms were fine for almost three weeks post op--as I seem to read a lot here too, 3 week? Now, every day I worsen by far! Here is my REAL question, besides toast and ensure, what else SEEMS to be alright for us now?

I never felt these things b4 a month ago, and the first two times I became short of breath with chest tightness and a feeling of impending doom! I was convinced that i was going to die and became afraid to do any physical activity because I know that "they" will come. I've become very depressed, have gained 7lbs, and feel as if my doctor is treating me like a psych patient. He says that i should ignore the PVC's and resume all physical activity without restrictions.
stomach paralysis...caused by vagus nerve. I bloat and now have heart problems upon awakening. The vagus nerve is part of the human anatomy but it seems like doctors shy away from talking about it and possibly not knowing a whole lot about it. Gastroparesis is very uncommon, 3 out of 1,000 has it. Basically it is caused by vagus nerve damage thru diabetes. I'm not diabetic. I had an upper/lower GI nothing showed. I believe it is that nerve line. I had an EKG, an echocardiogram.
I also have muscle twitching that can last for 12 hours, not painful but annoying, in arms, legs, abdominal, chest, shoulders....everywhere basically. I've also had 'surges of electricity' in my head that last 2-3 seconds which is more painful than giving birth.....just want to die when that happens and thank GOD it only last 2-3 seconds. I developed PVC, PAC, tachy-brady, etc. 2.5 years ago....before the choking feeling began. oh and I also have buring sensations especially in my legs.
Also, I use eyedrops first thing upon awakening (per my doctor's advice)... and that seems to help greatly. Best wishes to all.
it seemed absolutely crazy to me because he didn't even touch my neck and I didn't t tell home about my chest and back burning.....but upon awakening the next day, all my symptoms were gone....truly gone....I felt like I was back to my normal self....I think acupressure or even cranio sacral might help you...I am praying each day that you find healing and get some relief...
Back in June started with upper stomach/chest pain and tightness, increased heart rate. Nausea, fatigue. Initially went to the physicians, blood work, generalized work up completed which came back negative. I had two events during the night that woke my up from my sleep, I ended up in the ER, more tests, blood work done, EKG, which all came back negative.

Hey hurts, Mine came on very gradually and the pain has changed (in other words, it covers a broader area now), but has stayed very consistent. Now it radiates to my ribs sometimes my chest feels stiff in the morning too. Got my ANA panel back - my doctor said it showed some positive/some negative factors (she thinks it may be an auto-immune issue) and has referred me to a rheumatologist - I go on March 15th. I live in a town that has only 2 rhuematologists (!
When I'm having a really bad go of the air hunger, I feel sick, my eyes hurt and I have chest tightness. I am beginning to suspect it plagues me during sleep because sometimes I will wake up and my face will be vibrating. At least that is my perception. By reading everyone elses comments it seems that this is fairly common and there is no cure. Are we that susceptible to stress.
I am allergic to NSAIDs and I am most definitely allergic to this Relafan. It gives me horrible chest pains but sometimes I will just take them over the back pain. I have an alarm clock with 2 alarms on it. One wakes me 30 minutes prior to getting up. I have my meds on the bed side table and take those with the first alarm. I just go back to sleep. 30 minutes later, I am OK enough to get up , get dressed, and go exercise!
Well, in the past, I took Centrum multivitamin at night (with thyroid medicine in the morning). But Centrum gave me chest pains, and so I discontinued the Centrum. So, if I take any multivitamin, it can not be Centrum. Taking individual vitamins and minerals is probably the best thing, but which ones? Without tests to determine where I am deficient, should I take vitamin E AND selenium AND zinc AND magnesium AND vitamin B12? That is 5 pills, PLUS Synthroid.
I just got over what I thought was the flu and now I am just dealing with the tightness and chest cold. My grandmother survived the fire, but had a tracheoscapy and is home suffering with tracheal stenosis. My sister and I are taking care of her and looking for doctor's second opinion on whether or not she needs surgery. Yes, I have been under stress in the last year. I desire to get answers to begin correcting whatever is wrong with me. Not knowing is worse. Dragging on hurts as well.
I don't feel the pain the the tension anyway. I still feel the tightness but it isn't painful. Sorry to hear about you discs above and below. Wow that would be a nightmare. I have to just be patient I guess. It is not even a week since I had my surgery so I guess I am not doing too bad considering. Good luck and keep in touch.
I guess I happened upon this group because I'm lost and it seems like a good place to stop and take stock. I've read previous introductions and can empathize with the frustration. I look forward to seeing some conclusion for everyone:) Here is my tale. I would like to list the issues I've been facing and see what the general opinion is. I have seen a Neurologist, Back/Spine and Pain Management Specialist, (2) PCP, Ophthalmologist, Orthopedic, and Physical Therapist with minimal answers.
I just came upon this forum and would like to add to it. I have a feeling of lightheadedness, accompanied with eye movements. It is as if I can feel my eyes move, at one point I could hear my eyes move, it was like an electric zap in my head that would give a strange sensation all over, there is a throbbing feeling each time I move or roll my eyes. It makes me feel tired and unfocused. This has been rather erratic for me. The first time I think I noticed it was about a year ago.
It can be painful but it doesn't last long. THis started back in March when I get an chest cold/very bad cough for about 5 weeks. The cough went away but the "deepened voice" and wierd lump feeling have stayed. The ENT says that it is Acid Reflux and that the Rx I have is helping "heal" the redness in my vocal chords.
During the delay my breasts were very tender, my lower back was sore, I had mood swings (never had them before) and today I've been feeling like someone is seating on my chest and it's hard to breath (I don't know if what I'm describing is a panic attack never had that before either) I talked to my Gyno he said that it was normal until the body get use to do everything by itself again. I hope that happens soon.
If anyone does still read this thread then I'm sorry to burden myself on them, especially when thye have their own stuff to sort out but I needed to get this off my chest and posting here was the only way I could do it.
Feel like cold water in their vains ? My tingling/numbness moves about - feet / legs, hands/arms, chest, head etc... Here it is 12/13 and still doing the same thing. I have read things on other sites that say it's more then likely a transit immune reaction.. does that sound about right ? I aslo have Fibermyalgia and wonderd if anyone else had a auto immune condition? I am going to see my GP tomorrow to make sure we can start ruling out the scary GBS.
I take another around an hour later. After that I take 1 around every two hours. My body starts insisting upon it. They do not last long. I feel that I need that boost to keep me going although I am at the point that they only bring me down. I get much larger scripts from a doctor. Usually around 90 with a couple refills. He is a friend of the family but does not suspect my problem. As I said the doctor who got me started has passed away. He used to give me 100 with 5 or 6 refills.
My normal weight has always been 100 to 115 my whole life and this is so uncomfortable for me. I've been tryin to do some research which is how i came upon this blog and I was surprised to read the rest of the ladies comments. I havent started going to the Dr yet but it's coming. I'm just dredding going thru all sorts of tests that arent needed and cant tell me anything,, and have to be paid for. So if theres any word yet, it'd be great to hear back.
