For the past few days I’ve been having a really sore throat. I thought I was just getting a cold, but then it started to feel more like I had food stuck. I took a q-tip and looked around my throat where it hurt. A hard piece of white stuff ( I can only assume it was food) came out and then it started to bleed. I also noticed a canker sore around the same area. I have no more pain in that area and the canker sore is gone.
Im 33 weeks and woke up with a sore throat and chest conjested should I c my dr or get somthing over the counter
Is there anything I can take for a sore throat besides children's Tylenol? Throat is keeping me up along with being hot & uncomfortable.
seI have an awesome med/natural free way of beating a cold and shortening the length of it ! First I like to have multiple showers or baths with lots of steam and adding Eucalyptus and lavender oils to help ease congestion and sinus pain . The lavender helps you sleep. I also add the same oils to vasoline to make a natural homemade "vicks" rub. I rub this on feet and chest! Works nice hot sore muscles to. Drink lots of fluids is a definite proven render!

I am suffering from my second chest cold in as many months. I haven't had the flu in years (never get the flu shot), and in the past I have been able to fend off serious colds and flu with homeopathic remedies and things like Mucinex. But last month I suddenly developed a mild sore/ticklish throat and by the next day I was heavily congested in my chest. No stuffy nose, no fever, just horrible coughing and phlegm that was difficult to cough up. I also had very achy joints and bad headache.
we have great sex and he is definitely a great lover-however, in the past few months I get a sore throat everytime we kiss and have sex. I will get a major cold, chest congestion etc and we will wait until I feel better and as soon as we get together again I end up with a sore throat, congestion etc. why is this happening?
I had protected sex 1 month ago and about a week and a half later I ended up with a minor cold (minor sore throat, chest and nasal congestion and productive cough and no temperature). The cold lasted about a week and a day. Around 3 days after the cold symptoms diminished I got a sore throat again, only very minor and in one general spot near my right tonsil and slight tenderness under my right ear. As stated the soreness is minor but has lasted nearly 3 weeks now.
The congestion and sneezing have left, however, a sore throat and coughing persists. When I cough, I cough up clear and opaque phlegm. I tried taking Claratin and that seems to help a little. But I'm starting to think that this is beyond allergies and might be a bacterial infection?
I hate Arkansas spring time. The pollen is awful right now. I have a sore throat and running temperature. Took some tylenol and it helped. Gargling salt water and using nettie pot and lots of vapor rub. Does anyone have any other home remedies?
I got a very persistent sore throat about 20 years ago which lasted several weeks. I didn't see a doctor, I was young and healthy, eventually got over it. My throat was red with small bumps, but not flaming red like a strep throat. I don't recall other symptoms such as fatigue at the time. I thought I may have picked it up from a new man I had started dating. Over the years since, I have had MANY similar recurring sore throats.
After 10 days,I was in the cold for 10 min (36f).evening I felt cold inside my body. AT 11th day,I saw some blister in throat and went to hospital they could not find what it is.but they called it as sore throat at that time i have a fever 99.6. At 14th day,i had another blister in throat so went to hospital She also gave me the Amox-Clav antibiotics for the sore throat/Blister. She gave it for 10 days,I used it for 5 days..
I have had an irritated/sore throat for 2 full weeks now (as of monday 09/24/2007.) Have been to the doc whom put me on an antibiotic for possible bronchitis. I have no fever, but have some nasal congestion as well as some tightness in my chest. I have been using throat lozenges and taking Mucinex DM along with some ibuprofen to cut down on some of the throat pain. This is really starting to concern me - maybe it is just post-nasal drip, as my tonsils in the back of my throat are very red.
try tums or malox if it's heartburn and talk to your dr if it's a cold or allergies causing the sore throat. And to help sleep my dr suggested Benadryl and unisom.
A second reason is a non-allergic, non-infectious inflammation in the sinuses that can linger after a cold. A third reason is chronic sinusitis. Postnasal drip can cause a sore throat as a result of irritation of the throat. The blood that you coughed up could also be from the irritation. You may experience the postnasal drip as a constant feeling of mucus at the back of your throat. Typically this is worse at night when you lay down to sleep.
I do see some new small bumps next to the original mark. My sore throat is still sore but has change. I now have practically lost my voice. I have read so much about the rarity of getting HSV-2 orally and how most people have HSV-1 already and didn't know that I think I am worrying a little too much about it.
2) If so, can a sinus/post nasal drip sore throat be a sign of ARS? 3) If so, could the sinus/post nasal drip sore throat be the only ARS symptom, or would there also be other more classical symptoms such as fewer, rash etc? 4) Could there be any way ARS symptoms would last for almost 4 months (and counting)?
I really can't explain it, ever time i have had a flu or cold on chest it isn't like this one. My throat isn't sore but it feels closed/swollen inside(but no pain), not like when I have an asthma attack. I had my x-ray today and i wont get the results for 7-10 days, but i don't seem to be getting better.
My symptoms initially began as a cold with chest congestion, extreme throat pain, fatigue, and a fever for the first two days. Almost all of those symptoms went away within one week and now I'm left with the sore throat. I also have post nasal drip so I'm wondering if this is causing the pain. The pain seems to get worse in the evening or in cold temperatures. It hurts to talk also. No one that has been around me has gotten a sore throat so it makes me feel like it is not strep throat.
I have a chronic sore throat, chronic headache, chronic sinus drainage. I also have terrible night sweats; aches and pains that come and go in severity; as of late I have developed a heavy tight chest feeling with some scattered wheezes that come and go and a tight throat feeling that comes and goes. I live in an older home, I wonder if I am allergic to it? Or am I developing some sort of COPD?.... I have lost 14lbs in the last few months. I have no appetite and am fatigued.
However after 6 weeks, i have developed a very severe sore throat. I dont have any other symptoms (fever, headache, cold etc). The general physician i visited, has ruled out Mono and Strep. 1) Do any of the STDs give a severe sore throat that lasts for more than a week? 2) Also, how reliable is an 18 day negative test for bacterial infections like Gonorrhea, Chlamadia etc 3) I have read in your previous forums that a negative HIV test at 35 days is highly reliable but i am really worried.
But still have throat pain, and sore throat since more than 13 months. If u get any more info about throat pain and sore throat, from any once let me know Please.
The causes of sore throat can be infectious (viruses, bacteria, and fungi) or non-infectious, although the relative proportion of each is not well documented. METHODS: A PubMed database search was performed for studies of non-infectious sore throat.
VaBreeze - My symptoms began with cold/flu like symptoms - little bit of a fever and sore throat, etc. What does this mean? I've tried ibuprofen for the past week with no change so I'm now looking for a rheumatologist. The first one I called wasn't available until February! Durvis - have you had any luck or feel any better?
well i get cold sores alot and they get worse with stress or eat too many acetic foods (i ate alot of oranges when i was sick for the vitamin c then i got a nasty cold sore from it) and for cold sores on your face you need more lysine which is just an amino acid which is good for your skin... and whenever i'm about to feel one coming on i pop in some vitamins and it never forms.... so ... id try that... but idk about all the other pain your getting...
For the past 2 weeks I have also had a very sore throat, which is very scratchy and feels like I have been breathing in cold air (not painful, just uncomfortable). Does anyone have any ideas what may be causing my problems, and is it worth me asking my doctor to book me an appointment at the ENT clinic to see if my throat is the root cause of my problem? I eat quite healthily and exercise fairly regularly. I work shifts in an office environment.
If amoxicillin and calvepen (phenoxymethylpenicillin) didn't help I have to wonder if your sore throat, sore ear, and sore neck are more from a virus. But 2 weeks is a long time for a virus. I'd get a second opinion if I were you. Dr.
Shortly after I wrote this I went and bought some dayquil it helped me and a few days later I got a lot better and my sore throat finally went away. Now my mom is currently battling a sore throat hers has been bother her off and on when I was sick. So I think we both had some kind of really bad cold/virus. Im just glad my sore throat finally went away. Its aweful always being in pain like that for a while.
now with my cough and runny/stuffy nose I developed chest pain, or a chest cold. Yesterday my chest hurt really bad in the evening and when I coughed It hurt even more. Today chest still hurts when I cough but that as bad as yesterday. What can all this be?
