Celebrex off market

Common Questions and Answers about Celebrex off market

celebrex

Avatar f tn t really that affective for me but my insurance made me try practically every NSAID on the market before they would approve Celebrex. They denied Celebrex and even recommended a PPI (ulcer med) to take with the NSAID's because they didn't want to pay for Celebrex. After they denied me 4 or 5 times, they finally approved it. So now I take 400mg of Celebrex a day and it's a lot more effective than any other NSAID i've been on.
Avatar f tn sorry to jump in, but i had the impression that Celebrex was going to be taken out of the market for several reasons. It is not sold in South America because of that, since people were complaining about these symptoms you metion (upset stomach, etc) and one of them was "bouncing pain". Amy, did they put you straight on Celebrex, or did you try other mild over the counter painkillers? i suffer from both AS and MS, and i take higher doses of Advil or any other Iboprufen around.
Avatar f tn I took them for many years before I switched to celebrex, then oxy. (well first to celebrex, a heart attack, then morphine then fentynol then oxy) Taper off them to avoid those horrible tylenol headaches and you shouldn't have too much trouble. Good Luck! I was on fentynol for three years 150mcg/day, and quit those cold turkey. I was grumpy and tired for three days and that was about it. A month later I was put on oxy and have been on it ever since- (480g/day now) ten years now.
1207048 tn?1282174304 I took celebrex years ago and I remember that it helped a little bit but there was a recall in 2004. They took it off the market due to findings of increased risk of heart attack, stroke and blood clots in patients that took it for more than a year. My mother took it also and neither of us had any side effects from it just stopped because of the recall. Have you tried physical therapy? It might help to be evaluated and then go for a few sessions and see if it helps.
Avatar dr m tn Jim my brother uses Celebrex and he has a lot of success with it. I myself took Vioxx for 4 year for fibromyalgia and had tremendous success until it was taken off the market. I can't take Celebrex because I think it has sulfa in it and I am allergic. It has been known to have serious side affects however again some people do very well on it. I wish I could try it. What is RZ Rhizotomy? I've had 7 back and cervical surgeries so I am well aware of what that pain is like.
1415174 tn?1453243103 It is like an aura or wavy moving lines that last about a half hour and are in each eye. Has anyone had this from Neurontin (or Celebrex). I am tapering off of Neurontin for that reason and would like your opinion as to how to get off of it will less side effects. I am at 500mg now per day. I am now trying 100mg per week as I get ill feeling, insomnia and anxiety. What do you all normally do?
182884 tn?1259312906 At one time I was on Viox and then Bextra and they were both taken off the market. My dr. recently put me on Celebrex, and I am now wondering if this medicine is appropriate anymore for someone in my condition, who has had an MI? I was under the impression that it was ok to take unless you had underlying heart disease. Do I now fit that category? I would like some feedback from anyone who has an idea. Also if I keep taking this am I at greater risk?
Avatar m tn Anyway just be careful what you take. Your new doctor was absolutely right to take you off celebrex. Maybe you could ask about etoricoxib even though you have crohns and not colitis..good luck.
Avatar m tn I had to try almost every single one on the market before my insurance would approve Celebrex. And there is no generic so it's much more expensive.
Avatar n tn I took Celebrex for a year while I was on treatment this last time at the recommendation of Shands at the University of Florida. I made the decision to come off the Celebrex on my own because of all the black box warnings that came out regarding the heart while on Celebrex. I just came back from Shands on 7/21. I was up there for another evaluation after having relapsed for a second time.
Avatar m tn COX-2 inhibitors have been associated with some liver dysfunction, although not as commonly as other NSAIDs. Recently, Vioxx has been removed from the market due to heart-related problems. Celebrex and Bextra are currently being investigated for similar heart-related toxicities. It is recommended that people with liver disease avoid using all NSAIDs.
Avatar f tn I was on Diamox but could not tolerate it as it caused severe kidney PAIN. So, my PCP wants me to try Celebrex (3 days on, 3 days off). Anyone have any experience/knowledge of this med and, if so, how did you fare with it?

5986700 tn?1380791380 to get that clearance!! Of course, after I got off the Celebrex....I was just dandy cardio-wise. It was my personal reaction to the drug. Plus it was going to cost me a FORTUNE $$$...
Avatar f tn Hello there, I read you are taking celebrex. Did you know that celebrex has been taken off many drug store shelves. It is not a safe drug. Are you sure it's the Lyrica that is causing your weight gain? If it's the Lyrica that is causing the weight gain, maybe you should stop taking it, but talk to your doctor first. Don't just stop taking Lyrica. Good luck to you.
Avatar f tn Celebrex may decrease the effectiveness of Metoprolol, and lead to an elevation in blood pressure (approximately 5 mm Hg) when given over a period of weeks. This effect is most significant in patients receiving concurrent antihypertensive agents and long-term Celebrex use.
Avatar f tn Hi, welcome here-.... i have no experience of taking them for pain but i have heard many people here saying that after quitting them, they experience less pain than while they were on the pills... there is the socalled rebound pain after quitting, you will experience bouts of inreased pain but it does gets better so i will commend you for trying a new way without addictive painkillers to deal with your pain...You don't have to be a martyr either...
1415174 tn?1453243103 Hi, again Well the tylenol helps but you can't take it all the time or you get liver problems. I off of Celebrex because I 'm not sure if it is the Celebrex or the Neurontin causing my eye problems. the other problem is that I can hardly do anything without tweeking myself. Like I tried to get into bed and I kind of semi-jumped up or reached too quickly up(very lightly trust me) and it pulled my back (a little). Also, just any too fast of a reach or turn.
Avatar m tn I have been advised to take Celebrex or Topamax for headaches. Which treats headaches/migraines better? Which has had more success?
Avatar f tn I have chronic pain and Nucynta was working well for me. However, I'm a new RN and cannot take narcotics, so I have so switch medications. I am attempting to switch from Nucynta (50 mg 6x/day) to Celebrex (200mg 3x/day). My doctor didn't give me any advice for tapering off one to another. Any advice on how to do that? Can I take the Celebrex while still taking some Nucynta?

Avatar f tn Does anyone take celebrex?I started Prozak last week and they want me to take celebrex too. They say my liver can take it, (stage 2 fibrosis). But I am afraid of the NSAIDs in celebrex, any one else taking it? Oh, I am on Methadone too. I am having my first liver biopsy in the morning, so I will find out more about my liver. I am scared to death about it coz I have had so many problems lately.
Avatar f tn They also have the potential to cause drug-induced liver disease. In fact, many NSAIDs have been withdrawn from the market due to their hepatotoxicity. All NSAIDs have the potential to cause liver injury. However, some NSAIDs are more hepatotoxic than others. NSAIDs presently on the market that have been frequently associated with liver injury are aspirin (ASA), diclofenac (Voltaren), and sulindac (Clinoril).
Avatar m tn Recently, Vioxx has been removed from the market due to heart-related problems. Celebrex and Bextra are currently being investigated for similar heart-related toxicities. It is recommended that people with liver disease avoid using all NSAIDs. If NSAIDs are medically required for the treatment of another medical disorder, a reduced dose should be used for a limited period of time and only by people with stable liver disease.
