Avatar n tn Dex, the most accepted worldwide window period is 3 months, CDC havent issued revised guidelines in a few years, for example australian guidelines says 9 week is conclusive, but the most accepted window period is 3 months, you can find all the research of window period in this page, and it says 12 week as the window period. http://****.ucsf.edu/InSite?
Avatar m tn 2009) in urology hospital. At this time I contacted tested other people kit(the numberof test kit(HIV + syphilis) about 30). At that contact test kit, my hand and finger no wound. And I am just contact plastic(surface) of tested kit. (at 07.07.2009) tested kit is 14 hours after last tested because hospital diagnostic or treatment is done at 16:00. I visited hospital early time and I first guest for urology hospital(at 09:00 AM). I remember that I am not roll eyes.

Avatar f tn t need further testing but today I did a test 1st. Generation kit looks for antibodys and it was negative so what are my chance to have a positive result at 6 months help me almost.
Avatar n tn Hi Just a question regarding Rapid and Eilsa Test. Accorring CDC (Singapore) the Rapid test and eilsa test in terms of reailable and accuracy are same. Raipd test kit requires only a drop of blood from finger, but the Hiv virus is fragile once expos to air. Whereas, Eilsa test requires a tube of blood.
Avatar n tn The official CDC line is that you can get HIV from oral sex, although most experts and studies disagree. Even if the CDC is right , the risk is negligible when you consider the numbers involved..
1933343 tn?1336242468 Today she called me all in a panic. She was in a store, opened up a little sewing kit, and immediately a needle pricked her finger. She called me, and I did my best to be the strong mother I am trying so hard to be. As told to me on this forum, hiv does not live on surfaces. A needle is a surface, right? So, if someone who had hiv pricked their finger on the same needle, it would still be okay. Like someone would have to ***** their finger and then immediately ***** her finger, right?
Avatar m tn Hello all! I have started the quest to get a WB after a 1.13 IGG HSV2 result. I've decided I will drive myself crazy until I know definitively whether I have this or not. Sadly, I want to my OBGYN today and she said "never heard of the test, won't help you, would you like viral suppressives, and an undertone of "you are crazy.
Avatar m tn The CDC does not list that info specifically, it is just a well known fact among the medical community. Put it this way, even people with severely compromised immune systems, like you listed, would still almost always test + within the 3 month window period. Recomending they test to 6 months is precautionary. 3 months is the official guideline, you have no need to test beyond that. The vast majority of new infections will be discovered within a matter of weeks, due to the advance in testing.
Avatar m tn by philguy26, Sep 03, 2015 Hi team, now as I look at my test result it confuses me if it is a rapid test kit or actually a run through machine test type of thing. Im sorry because this is all new to me. The result goes like this.  Patient's Absorbance: 0.230  Mean Negative Absorbance: 0.100  Cut-off Value : 1.
Avatar m tn So if a lab is comparing your blood antibodies to the Shelter Island strain and you got Lyme say, in California or Florida where there is much greater genetic variability than in New England, and then your results are compared to the CDC surveillance criteria, which was developed using statistical analysis of antibodies shown by early, rheumatic Lyme patients in New England, you very well might not show a "positive" even if you have Lyme.
Avatar f tn If I plan to order the kit myself and have my regular doctor sign it..what do you guys advise me to order ? which kit is affordable, yet most useful and accurate .. could someone help me then interpret the results, so that if it is negative I don't have to see LLMD ? also, if I the test is negative for Lyme, does that mean the same for co-infections? if not what test I should order to rule out co-infection as well ? I heard that sometimes Ignex are not reliable in their tests results ...
523927 tn?1257018704 The ELISA test is about 55% inaccurate. You might as well flip a coin! I don't think insurance companies cover the tests performed by IGeneX. The recommended tests are the IgG and IgM western blots (#188 and #189)--together they cost $190. What you should do is call IGeneX (look for the number on their website) and ask that they send you a blood test kit. You'll receive it within 10 days or so. You bring it to your doctor and ask him/her to sign the form and you have your blood drawn.
Avatar f tn Teak and diver58 am failing to understand this from CDC especially on the part within the 1st 3 months, does this mean before 3 months and repeat testing should be considered > 3 months can mean 6 month. [ If the initial negative HIV test was conducted within the first 3 months after exposure, repeat testing should be considered > 3 months after th e exposure occurred to account for the possibility of a false- negative result.
Avatar m tn 1)Pertaining to answer # 5, if you mentioned so, why did CDC recommend 3-6 months of window period for HIV antibodies test. (i am referring to those prelimnary walk-in 20mins hiv anti-body testing) Not any other form of laboratory testing, western blot, etc. 2)What is your view/take on CDC statement that HIV antibodies will generate differently in different immune system DEPENDING on HOST and the VIRAL Characteristics. What does CDC statement mean on this?(for my knowledge please).
Avatar f tn Why does the CDC and Focus (makers of Herpselect Test) say that 12 weeks is confirmatory for HSV and everyone here says 16 weeks? Just got off the phone with both.
13541286 tn?1432103538 t back to normal life! no cheating.all tests did by CDC with rapidtest kit, please help me to evaluate my case with your professional experiences, thank you very much!
Avatar f tn I fell down about 14 steel stairs coming off of guard duty in Afghanistan in full kit. I was knocked out for a min or so and figured I just had whiplash and a concussion but after 3 days of basically no sleep and a baseball size welt on my neck I was medivaced to a hospital where I had an MRI and the neurosurgeon said I had some torn ligaments in between my C3-C4-C5. I was in a neckbrace for 7 weeks and was having bad muscle spasms so I had botox injections in my neck and shoulder.
Avatar m tn Now on 94th day I had developed some rashes on my hand and am very concerned. Maybe I should get a final test as per CDC guidelines which is of 90 days. Many on this forum will suggest you same.
Avatar m tn 1996 announcement, But today is 2008 ============= The test, to be sold under the name Abbott HIVAG-1 Monoclonal, is an enzyme immunoassay (EIA), and is the second FDA-licensed HIV antigen detection kit intended for use in blood banks and plasma centers nationwide according to new FDA blood screening recommendations. Avatar m tn The dude at the health department refused to test me after i tiold him i had a negative pcr dna test, and he said that i would be wasting a test kit if he used one on me. I told him about this website actually and that the pcr dna test is not fda approved and so on and so on, but he said there are plenty of tests that are not fda approved and very reliable. anyway I do want to get an accurate assement of my status so again back to my question, is the rapid ok? or no?
