Common Questions and Answers about Cause of fainting in kids

fainting

Avatar f tn since then I have followed the advice of several web sites in voiding situations that cause the fainting. For me it could be most prolonged bodily stress (a hot room, even while eating at restaurants, shock etc). If you feel bodily uncomfortable, it's best to lie down with your knees raised. In the last 6 years, I've only had 3 episodes, (2 of them in one night), and all 3 were due to a high fever and food poisoning.
Avatar f tn No I don't faint specifically during my monthly actually not sure if it's related but I've notices latly my period has been late. Avatar n tn And so, there is a lot of research ongoing to determine why vasovagal reactions occur and how to diagnose them. You see, while vasovagal syncope is the number one cause of fainting in children, it is sometimes difficult to identify this as the reason because there is currently no definitive test. This means that some children end up getting a lot of other fruitless tests looking for other causes of passing out.
Avatar n tn But, yesterday i had a sudden fainting spell followed by about 20 minutes of torturous pain. I am not on birth control and have not have kids yet... I have made an appt. with both my gyno and doctor. What is up with me? Is this normal?
1198696 tn?1265299699 There are different types of Autonomic Dysfunction (sometimes referred to as Dysautonomia). All four of my kids as well as my hubby has it. It affects each individual differently but I would encourage you to learn all you can about it. Neurocardiogenic Syncope usually occurs in response to stimuli-such as pain, fear etc. Your heart rate elevates and your system kicks in and says 'slow down'. The system slows it down too much and it can cause you to pass out.

Avatar n tn Hi, I never had a history of fainting in the past. I'm 24 years old and was sent to the ER after being found unconscious in my home. I remember bits and pieces of the incident. I wasn't feeling good and decided to take mucinex because i was having chest congestion. An hour in of the night, my chest was pounding, side of my body was numbness, and I remember losing my vision completely. I screamed dad i don't feel...and that is when I collapsed from a sitting position.
Avatar f tn Well, I'm not a doctor but I am a mom to four kids with dysautonomia. People don't normally pass out during a TT-hence a positive or a negative test result. I can't diagnose you but I can tell you that my hubby and kids have had positive TT. Are you having any symptoms? What made the doctor do a TT to begin with?

My migraines have returned. They used to be daily then just once in a blue moon for a couple years, now a few times a week. I have fainted 2 times in the last month. Both times my kids were with me, poor things, they were so scared. They said I was shaking.

Avatar m tn Well its very serious when it comes to loss of conciousness. Yes asthma does cause fainting that is mostly for chronic asthmatic patients. To my knowledge these are asthma symptoms. She should get a doctor to check her as soon as possible, for me am an asthmatic patient and had asthma as a result of me playing outside in a very sandy and dusty playground that was back in my elimentary school. Check out for the asthmatic symptoms such as dust, cold places or areas, and stress and so on.
Avatar f tn I'm 11 weeks and I have been continously fainting at work. I'll lose my vision and hearing and just completely pass out. They keep telling me it's because I'm dehydrated but I'm drinking plenty of water and Gatorade and my blood pressure is very low. No one will really look more into it. I am very scared for my health and about losing my job over it. Please help.
Avatar f tn Crystal, did the cardiologist suggest for her a tilt table test? this is usually done to rule out certain things for syncope or pre-syncope (fainting/pre-fainting) It may lend some answers as to why this is happening. I remember fainting & dizzy spells as young as 9 and passing out in middle school in PE.

Avatar f tn Yes, that could be possible. Infections can cause major problems if not addressed. I saw your other post and I thought about the possibility that you have a bad infection going on. Like I stated in the other post, you need PROMPT medical attention. We all can GUESS what it could be, but that is not in lieu of seeing an actual physician who give you actual treatment.
Avatar f tn It could be from a drop in blood pressure, but really, dear, you must see a doctor. It could be serious, and you need a diagnosis.

Avatar n tn m talking and talking and then, yep, shortness of breath. What scares me is that in my first pregnancy, the shortness of breath led to dizziness and fainting as I got further along. (I had m/c so I don't know how long it would have lasted). I really hope the dizziness/fainting don't re-occur this time around. Especially when I'm teaching! They're all drama students and they would love it if their teacher fainted. Here's to it being a small symptom that goes away fast!
