cat-allergies

Avatar n tn we just got a kitten, and although i lived all my life in my partents house with a cat, i seem to have developped a pet allergie. i have itchy eyes, sneezing, easy headaches, difficulty in breathing, sensation of a burning nose. i started taking some allergie stop medicine and use some spray to decongesionate my nose. they work, in big lines, very good, my question is: for how long can i still use this medicine? do not want to abuse it. how expensive are the allergie stop shots?
1116122 tn?1268496794 I have no intention of getting rid of my cat, however, since this is the best my allergies have been around pets in years. Other than Zyrtec, are there allergy shots covered by insurance that I could take, or other allergy medications that are prescription? My insurance company stopped covering Allegra, which was perfect (bummer). Thanks for your help in advance.
Avatar f tn Im 18 weeks and 5days and i have awful seasonal allergies. My eyes are usually bad but for some reason this year its all about the sneezing. I have my appointment next monday but i dont know if i can wait that long to ask what i can take for them. Is there anything at all i can use for nasal allergies? I feel like im dying from these sneeze attacks ive been having.
Avatar f tn I currently take Xyzal and Nasacort for allergies and medication for asthma (Singulair and Symbicort). I'm also taking allergy shots for cat dander and grass pollens. When I go running by wooded areas I get a horrible runny nose. My runny nose goes away about 10-15 minutes after I get inside from my run. I'm wondering if it could be from allergies or if it could be from something else. Thanks.
Avatar n tn Otodectes, Cheyletiella, Scabies, etc, ringworm and other fungal infections, allergies (allergies to food can occur anytime in the life of a cat), bacterial skin infections, endocrine disorders and more. Ringworm, and some mites can be transmitted to people. Frontline does not treat mites. The topical: "Revolution" is for fleas, ticks, ear mites, and scabies, so it might be a good idea to switch to Revolution for a couple of months.
326352 tn?1310994295 The daugher with the issues just turned 2, was diagnosed with asthma about 6-8 months ago (does breathing treatments regularly with Albuteral). She was allergy tested yesterday and came up with a 4/5 allergy to cats. She has moderate to severe eczema being treated with topical corticosteriods (Elidel, Elocon, something else) and has now been prescribed what is probably the REST of the list of cortocosteroids by the allergist. We've tried Singular in the past, but it made her mean.
118225 tn?1278654940 I was just curious if there was a long term relief for cat allergies. I have heard many people say there is a simple shot to take them away...but wonder if this is true, and how often the shot would be needed. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Avatar n tn However, you should not use decongestants for more than 5-7 days at a time. Symptoms can also be relieved by using a saline nasal spray or a nasal spray that contains corticosteroids. Corticosteroids work by helping to reduce inflammation and congestion. The golden rule for chronic stuffy nose is steam inhalation. Inhaling steam from a bowl of hot (but not boiling water) may help to soften, and loosen, the build up of mucus in your nose.
Avatar f tn My cat developed a blading spot around the base of his tail 18 months ago. I frontline him every month as he is an out door cat, and i also use the flea protection spray around my home every 12 months. I took him to the vet, who said that as there were no red areas, his fur was actually growing back and it was certainly fleas. I doubted this, but bathed him once i got home, re frontlined him and treated the house. 6 months later it was no better so i revisited the vet.
1178508 tn?1266793916 My cat had flies but for the past 2 months he has been treated wiyh frontline plus and is flea free. Now he has spots on he back, neck, and sides that he constantly licks. Some of the spots are raw and bloody at times. What could be wrong with his skin?
Avatar f tn Says his throat hurts, dr decided he had some sort of reflux then and allergies. Now he has always had allergies but I never knew allergies to cause all the rest of this stuff. So came home with more meds. A few days later we were back at the drs office, she sent us to the hospital for blood work this time to check for mono and pneumonia.
Avatar f tn If it's,allergies you could take benadryl. That helps me when im sick and stuffy.
Avatar n tn Do you have a good mattress cover to prevent dust mites? I know my asthma is worse when my allergies are acting up. Do you have any food allergies? Have you considered allergy shots for pets, etc? Hopefully this helps. Good luck fellow asthma sufferer!

485351 tn?1208647497 t have to see the flea that affected your cat since one flea bite can causing itching for at least a month if the cat flea allergy dermatitis; and the flea could be brought in on clothes, etc. There are some things that you can try at home, but, if they are not effective I encourage you to take her to the vet no matter how far away. I would switch her food to a hypo-allergenic, grain-free, novel protein, CANNED diet.
Avatar f tn I have had seasonal allergies along with dust, cat and dog allergies too since 30 years ago. I finally had 5 years of allegy shot ending aroung 2005, This year has been so bad with all the pollen I feel like I'm right back to day one. My eyes are itchy, my nose runs and my palate is so itchy. I take Atrovent for post nasal drip, aerius for the allergies and I'm also on Advair 250 discuss. Why is this happening after all these years? Will it go away or am I supposed to get shots again.
Avatar n tn My cat has been sneezing and having nasal discharge for a month now. She has no other symptoms. She plays, she eats well. Just sneezes and has nasal drainage. Her eyes are good. No swollen or runny eyes. Is this allergies? I noticed she usually only sneezes when her nose touches objects or she sniffs. Sometimes mucous comes out with the sneeze.
Avatar n tn html airborne, can be from many many products used in the home..incl hair spray, room spray, SHAMPOO, candles, cleaning products, laundry detergents or rinses, just about anything kitty inhales or comes into contact with. OR food and the MOST common culprit is CHICKEN. first of all I would eliminate chicken from his diet, it doesn't need to be an expensive hypoallergenic Veterinarian brand!!!! best if its a good brand of CANNED food tho.....
Avatar f tn Hi, Severe persistent allergies can be treated with newer options of treatment like leukotreine inhibitors, allergy shots, mast cell inhibitors etc. These options should be chosed considering individual symptoms and their severity. Best.
