I take Zyrtec 10 mg tablet daily im allergic to my cat/ seasonal allergies etc.

I have allergies im wondering if i can buy certain pills or what do you do when u get them??

My cat has been sneezing and having nasal discharge for a month now. She has no other symptoms. She plays,she eats well. Just sneezes and has nasal drainage. Her eyes are good. No swollen or runny eyes. Is this allergies? I noticed she usually only sneezes when her nose touches objects or she sniffs. Sometimes mucous comes out with the sneeze.

When my one indoor/outdoor cat needs flea meds, I use Advantage, and have good luck with it.

Even if you do not have previous allergic reaction to the cat, the cat can still indirectly cause your allergies to flare up. Aside from possible reaction to the shampoo used by the animal, other allergen such as pollen, mold, and other allergens may be responsible and these can stick to the cat's fur.Antihistamine medication may help provide relief. If it persists, you may need to have this checked by your doctor for proper evaluation. Take care and do keep us posted.

How do y'all deal with cat allergies?!?!? I've just recently become super allergic to my best friends cat's and I wanna be able to go see her without her cats killing me!!! (or me wanting to kill myself for that matter!) It's really bad, and my eyes, ears, throat, nose and basically whole body have really become anti-cats lately :( What should I do?!?!?! Allergies aren't hereditary but they can come and go. Some people outgrow allergies and others get them when they are older. My little brother had a lot of allergies when he was a kid (including pet dander) and outgrew them, while I didn't have them as a child but became more prone to them as an adult.

It sounds like it could be allergies, or anxiety/panic disorder. Why don't you get allergy testing done? If you are allergic to your cat, it would be good to know that. You don't have to get rid of it, but maybe just take allergy meds. If you are having environmental allergies, there are treatments for that, too. It's important to rule out allergies. However, you're already seeing a therapist. Anxiety and panic attacks aren't new for you.

Hi there, I hope your cat started eating again? Mine did this in October. He stopped eating, we took him to the vet. The vet said he had allergies, gave him meds. My cat still didn't eat so we brought him back. It turned out that his allergies affected his pancreas and he developed secondary diabetes. We had to leave our cat at the animal hospital for one full week because he wouldn't eat. He was on IV. Once a cat stops eating, he/she loses the interest to eat.

I've developed severe allergies since moving in with my girlfriend who has a cat and a dog. So severe that I am constantly sick whenever home, find myself waking up in the middle of the night gasping for air (asthma - I have an inhaler), and hacking up a lung in the mornings. I agree with what others said, Good luck - we have a cat who has allergies and we think she might actually be allergic to the other cats - LOL! But, she's doing very well even with the allergies.

sensitive commonly to a preservative or ingredient in dry kibble type food. grain allergies are common in cats and most cat foods are full of unnecessary grains just b/c they are 'cheap' fillers for the manufacturer, they do absolutely nothing for the diet!!! there are some 'grain free' diets on the market that may be a worth a trial. EVO, Wellness and Natures Variety are a few. cats can also suffer from environmental allergies....such as what you decide with your kitty.....

When I went home I played with my cat and the allergies returned. What could have caused this and should I adopt a new cat if I somehow now have cat allergies?

My cat does the same thing. I've had her looked at and they kept saying it was probably allergies. She also gets a weepy eye from time to time and I have to get an ointment to put in her eye. This last time we decided to try antibiotics in case it was some sort of viral bacteria or something. I've heard herpes in cats can cause these type symptoms too. You might want to get that checked out. Otherwise, it's probably just allergies.

Hi Kiki, My cat was just dx'd with herpes in her eyes. For years, we too, thought it was allergies, but no. According to my vet, herpes is very common in cats. The way I figured out what was possibly going on with my cat was to google "feline herpes conjunctivitis." Some sites will give you pictures to look at and compare as well as descriptions. Discharge from the eyes have many possible dx's, but a simple blood test will confirm whether your kitty has herpes or not.
