I have had cats my whole life and they usually have slept in my bed at one time or the other. Since losing my beloved cat in Hurricane Dennis I haven't had another cat in 3years. I had my appendix removed last August. I mentioned that because of the mystery purpose of the appendix in the human body. I recently acquired a new 7wk old kitten and for the first week I had it,I showed no signs of an allergy.

When I went home I played with my cat and the allergies returned. What could have caused this and should I adopt a new cat if I somehow now have cat allergies?

I am suffering from something similar with my new kitten (he's 5 mo.). He was an outside cat the first 4 mo. or so of his life. This year here in central Tx. the pollen and other allergens have been horrendous. A friend on here helped me with understanding this. The cat licks his fur..then carries the allergen in his mouth and licks his fur again. Mine even scratches me on the hands and I think, transfers the residue from his claws to me producing little red itchy whelps on my hands.

Some allergen exposure control methods are to clean very well daily (vacuum, sweep, dust), keep the cat out of your bedroom, wash your hands after playing with the cat, and shower before bed. If you can train the cat to tolerate a bath that would be beneficial as well. Otherwise you could try wiping its coat with a damp cloth regulary. There are ways to live with pet allergies and keep the pet.

I have a cat that when his allergies act up he gets that way. I just had to get him a shot ,kinda like benadryl for cats and he snaps out of that. Hope your cat gets better...

Hi I've recently moved to a new home, and almost straight away I agreed to take in a kitten to look after for a friend. Since around the same time I'm having asthmatic symptoms mainly when I go to bed or as soon as I wake up. I had asthma as a child (I'm 28 now) but it went away as I got into my teens.

I know there are many cat owners who can afford to get another cat after one dies. This can work or not. It is a risk and an expense. Am sure you have already thought of this option. Do keep us posted. Hope things return to normal soon.

What can cause my cat to vomit light brown liquid; I am under the assumption that it is stomach bile. Neither blood nor odor are present. Defintely the right choice to get rid of the cat (coming from someone with two cats and cat allergies), she is too young to have to deal with severe allergies. Do as much prevention with the dust allergies as well and hopefully the severity of the reactions with colds/flu will decrease.

s not the problem (one was a male cat, and a male dog), however the dog passed away 5 years ago and the male cat passed away 4 months ago and the cat got along well with both of them and i thought it was time for her to have another companion. I have a cat, well my MIL now has my cat that is 11 years old. I had this cat from birth on and when we moved he refused to come along. I don't know whether or not your kitten eating your puppy's food is harmful......is the puppy's food smaller than what you were feeding your kitten? I found that with my cat(she's about 10 months old), she likes the smaller food, and we still feed her Purina kitten chow, or another kitten formula. She will eat "cat" food too, but she really seems to like the stuff for kittens and has an easier time eating it.

You just haven't met the right cat. I adopted a kitten from a couple of kids outside our local wally-world. He is paper trained. OMG what a mess. He tries to cover up what ever little gifts he has for me. Solids are no problem but liquid is another story. Since news paper isn't very absorbent you can imagine the mess he can make just trying to "cover up". I've tried a litter box and even the litter bow w/ news paper in it.

I have a 4 year old cat (Simba) and a 4 month old kitten(Puppy). The kitten loves to aggrevaite the older cat. Puppy will follow Simba around and try to eat with him. He will also attack him when he is walking by or even follow him and sit just inches away staring at him. I have convinced my hubby to adopt a 3-month-old Maine Coon from the shelter. The kitten has been there since Dec 30th, and if nobody adopts him, he will get euthanized because they're overloaded and adoption rates are very low and fosters aren't available.
