Azithromycin and fever

Common Questions and Answers about Azithromycin and fever

zithromax

and was prescribed a single dose of azithromycin. I took it yesterday, and was wondering how soon should I be noticing symptoms going away? I did some research and it says that azithromycin can last in your system for up to 3 days or so. I still have a mild fever here and there and swollen lymph nodes in the groin area. Other symptoms such as body aches and burning sensation during urinating are absent. I just want some reassuring because I am dead worried about it.
I've had a fever between 100.5-101.8 over the last two days, burning urination, blood in urine, slight fatigue at night, and no other symptoms. I just began taking an unused Z-pak I've had. I know this could be chlamydia, gonorrhea, and or UTI. 1) Will Z-pak help? 2) What other drug/dosage is commonly prescribed for UTIs? I cannot afford to visit a clinic/doctor right now at all, so telling me to ask my doctor, consult my care provider, etc, though understandable, will be of absolutely no help.
That said, your apparent lymphadenopathy came on a bit late for ARS, and ARS almost always is accompanied by fever. I have never heard of azithromycin causing acute lymph node inflammation (lymphadenopathy), but any drug can rarely cause atypical allergic reactions, so I can't say azithromycin isn't the cause - and the timing is right. In response to your direct question, you should have an HIV test. I don't expect it to be positive, but better safe than sorry.
Many cases of NGU probably are due to normal oral bacteria, which cause inflammation in the urethra. Azithromycin in a single dose of 2.0 g--that is, the dose you took--is the treatment of choice, so your doctor was right: it would have taken care of anything you caught. If your symptoms persist or return, visit your doctor again; but the odds are they will clear up. You can be confident now that you no longer have anything you can transmit to a sex partner, if you ever did.

hey! Recently I was very sick and was given azithromycin for five days. While I was on it, I had terrible stomach pain and diarrhea. Now, it is about three to four days after, and I've been noticing blood in my urine. I also have stomach pain every so often, lower back pain, and feel very tired during the day. This all started about three days into taking the medicine. I'm 19 years old and I'm a virgin so there is no chance of pregnancy.
My doctor didnt really tell me what was wrong b/cuz the office was extra busy, and they were trying to get everyone looked at before they were closing. But he said i had a fever, and gave me some eye drops, some mucinex, and some antibiotics (Azithromycin). He didnt tell me exactly what for, but i figured it would help with whatever was going on in my body?? Now, the pharmacist just gave me the medicine, and i went home to take it...

I completed my first Z-pack (Azithromycin 250 mg qd, 6tabs) 5 days ago. Still sick. Dr has prescribed another Zpack. I'm desperate to get rid of this pain in my ears and throat. I have not had a strep test and have already been to 2 different doctors.

I ended up getting an IgeneX blood test and came up with these results: IGM: 39 IND, 41++, 45+, 58+ and on IGG I had 39 IND and 41+.
I have a fever on and off for 2 weeks and 3 days now, i had a cdc blood test(normal) and hiv antibody blood test(negative). i have taken antibiotics (azithromycin) this week. The doctor did some diagnostic; for example hearing the back of my lungs, my heart. and they said it was the cold/ or flu. I haven't been sneezing, sinus, or running nose. I had a check my temperature few times in the doctor's and it's normal, the highest i got was 99.3 degrees farenheit.

I got sick with classic head cold symptoms on August 1st. It was a nasty cold with a fever 99-101.5. The cold symptoms faded over time but I have been stuck with the fever, crushing fatigue, dizziness, and shortness of breath. Tests have been completely normal: CBC, CBC with manual differential, complete metabolic panel, mono test, sed rate. I took a course of azithromycin and got worse while taking it. My doctors are clueless. The regular doctor just said "I don't know what to tell you.
My husband developed what we thought was Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever (rickettsial bacteria carried by dog ticks)in early June and was very sick for 3 weeks. He was a textbook case...fever, then a spotted rash that started on extremities and went all over including palms and soles of feet, muscle pain, joint pain, headache, loss of appetite, swelling of hands, feet, face, symptoms of meningitis.

Sunday night (~48 hours later) I suddenly start having a mild fever (~100.7) and achy body similar to the flu. I have no urethral pain, no discharge, nothing else so far just the fever. Is it possible that this is an STD, or did I just coincidentally catch a flu/cold? I have an old Z-Pak I never used from being sick last winter that I started taking today ( I know I shouldn't play doctor)... but would It make sense to take it now? If it is an STD, would azithromycin in this dosage regimen help?
He started out with bronchitis and was put on Azithromycin for 3 days. Once he was off he had high fever and still coughing. We took him back to his doctor and had x-rays taken. He then had pneumonia in his right lower lobe and was put on Cleocin for 10 days. Once he was off the Cleocin he started having fever again and still had his cough. Took him back to his doctor and had more x-rays. He had pneumonia again, but in his left lower lobe. He was put back on Cleocin.
He also added a medicine to help the stone pass out naturaly(can’t remember the name.) But soon after it, I started feeling fever. I am not having any abdominal, back pain or urine problem. Recently I visited another doctor. He asked for urine test and widal test. That came clean.

Hi, I am a GP working in India. My problems started 3 1/2 months ago(July 2008) with high grade fever(>104.6 F). All routine tests like CBC, ESR,Widal's were within normal limits. A week later, perepheral smear showed P.Vivax. Chloroquine proved ineffective. PS as well as card test this time showed it to be Falciparum malaria. Artesunate was started, but was ineffective. The fever persisted recurring every 4-6 hrs, accompanied with chills and rigors.
I have found it quite weird that all of a sudden out of no where I have developed a swollen lymph node on my right side of my throat. Along with this discomfort came a mild fever, a bad headache, painful and sensitive eyes, and a minor toothache. I have no clue what is going on and am really looking for some answers. I have been administered antibiotics two days ago and nothing has changed thus far. I was put on Azithromycin Tablets and they only last for 5 days. Do you think this will work?
Went back to doc...temp at 102.6. Was givien Azithromycin antibiotic treatment. Have never experienced such sore joints...wrists are swollen; all other joints really ache. Right foot which has had a cactus sliver in it for over a year but has never bothered me, was swollen, hot to the touch and I could hardly put weight on it. Almost wondered if the sliver might be a piece of metal instead and that the compartive MRI caused a reaction to the metal. Five days with a fever now.
I have been taking Azithromycin for 4 days. I have gotten worse. Still have fever and have developed nasal congestion with yellow discharge. ENT gave me Spectracef. I read that Spectracef does not treat mychoplasma. So, is there an antibiotic that would treat both mychoplasma AND sinusitis incase I have one or both?

Keep your self well hydrated with warm fluids like soup, warm lemonade, herbal tea, chicken broth etc. Take an anti-fever medication for fever. Consult a doctor if fever des not subside in 2-3 days or any of the above mentioned symptoms appear. Take care!
