I recently took a 10 day course of augmentin for strep throat or tonsillitis (I took the prescription prior to testing to see which). Toward the end of the treatment, I started to experience some mild discomfort after urninating. Weeks later I am still experiencing that discomfort, in varying degrees. Usually if I am better hydrated it is milder. It is never terrible, just a mild burning or itching. The location is toward the tip of the penis, but inside.
On Monday I went doctor since I had some fever and sore throat, he said it was tonsillitis and prescribed me Augmentin 500g (amoxicillin/clavulanate potassium) and paracetamol. Okay now I don't have fever anymore and I don't feel the pain, it's getting better so I've stoped with paracetamol. But since yesterday I've started to have diarrhea. It's painless, I just notice some sounds in my stomach and a sudden need to go wc.

I developed a sore throat with white spots on tonsils and now runny nose. Immediate care says either strep or tonsillitis and gave me Augmentin. My common sense says one week is too early to be sick from HIV and that I probably got sick from the airplane. However, my paranoia says panic. Knowing that I do not know the facts about HIV, I turn to the group. Am I worrying about nothing?
This sounds like tonsillitis, or tonsil stones, not an std. You need to see your doctor. Put std out of your mind, and get this taken care of.
I went to ENT for the pain in my throat (not sore throat, no pain swallowing) and he said chronic tonsillitis and prescribed 10 days of Augmentin, which has ended. The pain in my throat is now become just a nuisance/dull.
But the back lumps and pain are chronic and a 7 out of 10 pain.
Any ideas???
If you have a viral tonsillitis, it will get better on its own in time (about the same time that was quoted for the Augmentin!). But you are also taking Augmentin. So, won't it be tempting to say that the Augmentin is what made you better? We'll never know.
It's not necessarily a bad idea, taking both -- especially if they are truly unsure and they're trying to get you better as fast as possible.
I saw a doctor several times from June-September. At the time I had tonsillitis, which cleared after Augmentin treatment, but the flushing and swollen tonsil, and white spots remained. Got blood tests and the opinion of an internalist, but everything came back negative. No abnormal counts, neg hep a, neg heb b, neg tb, neg hiv, neg ebv, no elevated CBC, WBC, everything tested normal.

( I used Azitro, Tetradox, cefridem, CEC, Sefalosporin. So can it be drug resistance. Because I have tonsillitis now( and white surface on my tongue) I used antibiotics(Augmentin) and penisilin G. I still have Tonsilitis. I cant be tested for gonorrhea because there is no discharge on my penis. By the way I have prostatit and I use flexilevo. So what I can do now?
I visited the doctor yesterday and she prescribed me Augmentin, stating that I had a throat infection. Today however, I noticed that I had very small white spots, visually very similar to tiny canker sores, spread across the back of the throat, tonsils, and on my uvula. I can count probably 15 or so, but as stated before, they are barely bigger than grains of sand. These appeared after my doctors appointment so I'm forced to ask here instead. Could anyone tell me what they might be?
Started me on another round of antibiotics...augmentin. I have read on this site before that it is uncommon, but still likely to get stds from oral sex. Could it be an std or is it more likely some kind of virus? This guy is the only guy that I have been with, kissing and everything, is it possible that my immune system is just not very strong since I haven't been very sexually active? Tonsillectomy is advised if there is recurrent streptococcal tonsillitis, recurrent peritonsillar abscess and chronic tonsillitis.
But please check to see if your symptoms could be due to a post nasal drip, which can cause a chronic irritation in the throat. This could be due to a sinus infection, a cold or a chronic allergy. It could be sinusitis, if it is accompanied by nasal stuffiness and facial pain or pressure. Post nasal drip could also be due to allergens.
s frequently sick and is acquiring a range of illnesses such as the cold, high fevers, tonsillitis and viral pneumonia. When he was about only a year old he got severe bronchitis and was in hospital for a week. I don't know if that's severely weakened his immune system. But the main problem is this past few months, he's been getting high fevers (as high as 39-40.5 Degrees) tonsillitis and pneumonia.
I was wondering if anyone else has taken Augmentin. I was prescribed it for a double ear infection. Originally I was given acetic acid drops but they aren't working.
I plan on calling my OB in the morning to double check. They are pregnancy category B. Although they are thought to be safe not many studies have been done on them. I'm nervous about everything. This is my first pregnancy and I am only 18.

I had two risky sexual contacts since the start of October the first was unprotected with an ex on the 11th but was on penicillin due to tonsillitis at the time... I then went on s volunteering trip to Thailand where I felt flu like symptoms 2 days post contact... Slight yeast like symptoms too... Had a chesty cough as well... Continued my trip and on s drunken night out landed up going home with a person I met that night ...
I should also note that for the last 3 months I had Tonsillitis 2 times.I currently take Augmentin and Aerius along with a Nasal Spray called Floxonase.The ENT said that I have Chronic Tonsillitis and that I should consider taking out my Tonsills. I am very sure this is Oral Hpv.I gave Oral Sex to my husband in July and I started having having Tonsils problems in September,October and now November.The ENT insists that this is Genetis since my parents too have bad tonsils.
After having a throat infection for 13 years (Lingual Tonsillitis which has irritated the hyoid bone), I found an ENT who diagnosed me and put me on a few medications to bring down the inflammation. I was put on Prednisone for 14 days, Augmentin and generic Prilosec/omeprazole 20mg. As of a week ago wed the inflammation was down 75% and I was feeling much better after being sick for so long.
You never needed testing - You do not have HIV you can trust your results 100% if that was your only exposure.
If you were on penicillin and it did nothing after 48 hours or so, then you should go back to the doctor then. Penicillin has resistance associated to it and they will often use Augmentin if penicillin doesn't work because it has an added agent to it that makes it have much less resistance. I wouldn't wait too weeks and call your doctor when it is 72 hours past when you started the antibiotics. Is it your throat or your skin that is infected?

It may be Augmentin or it may be something else. I think you should mention this to your doctor.
4 days on augmentin 825 for a chronic dental infection (now a bone infection), I started having major swelling in my hands. This is new, I've never had swelling like this. Yesterday my one hand looked freakishly red and swollen. It was so swollen, that when I straightened out my hand (which was difficult), everything turned white, inbetween the redness.
Anyway, I tried going off the augmentin (I'm taking it in conjunction with clindamycin), and today I feel much less swollen.
Exactly 3 days later I started feeling like a flue. I think it could be Tonsillitis now but am quiet not sure. Its that 10 day and so far no fever or any other symptom besides weight loss and mild diarrhea. Is that a sign of ARS? Can it be Acute HIV?
About a week ago I found I was having difficulty swallowing, as I knew it would take a while before I could get in to see my regular doctor I went to a walk in clinic. The doctor there looked at my tonsils and told me I had tonsillitis (he also did a throat swab). He said he could see little while bumps on my tonsils and prescribed anti biotics.
