Augmentin and vomiting

Common Questions and Answers about Augmentin and vomiting

augmentin

I have been on augmentin since Wednesday and now it's Friday. I usually eat with it when I take it at night but last night I did not. My question is..after 12 hours after taking it I threw up a lot of bile. Is that normal. The first night I took it I ate and same thing happened 12 hours after but first time wasnt a lot.
From my own personal experience, I had all my wisdom teeth removed last year and took a vicodin while I was still numb in anticipation of the pain and felt nauseous and threw up. So I would discontinue the vicodin for now. vomiting from antibiotics could be a side effect as well but I'm thinking it may be more due to the vicodin also. So how many days of antibiotics have you taken so far? Amoxicillin is similar to augmentin.
She is fine during the day but every night it is the same thing- her stomach starts making load gurgling noises and her mouth gets watery and she vomits. She sleeps with us and nurses before she goes to bed and then once more during the night. Most of the time she doesn't vomit until 3am or 4am which is well after her feedings. She acts completely normal during the day. Would the antibiotic still be in her system? Could she suddenly start have side effects of the antibiotic?

We brought her to see a doctor just now, he diagnosed her as having a viral infection, prescribed augmentin and paracil. After taking the medicine prescribed, 7 hours later, she is still having chills and fever. Her chills appear to come and go every 10hours or so and subside after she takes pain relief medicine but comes back after it wears off. She also complains of body aches. Should we bring her to the hospital if these symptoms persist tomorrow even after consuming medication?
Symptoms started a few days after starting generic Zyrtec, which also caused unbelievable dryness that felt like I was dehydrated (no vomiting, though). A day after the chills, I noticed my urine was dark and my stools were very light, almost gray, and I started getting very itchy but no rash. Looked at the drug interactions monograph, thought it was a reaction to the generic Zyrtec and called my doc. He told me to stop taking the zyrtec and ordered liver function tests.
mild diarrhea, gas, stomach pain; nausea or vomiting; headache; or skin rash or itching. Are there other signs or symptoms present? Is he still taking augmentin? Stop using this medication and call your doctor at once if there is diarrhea that is severe or lasts longer than 3 days, nausea, stomach pain, low fever, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, or jaundice. If it persists, it would be best to have this evaluated further by your doctor. Take care and regards.
The capsule's contents are tasteless and are well tolerated. You can open the capsule and mix the crystals with juice, milk, etc. The prophylactic dose is about 2 mg.per kilogram per day. The drug comes in 25, 50 and 100 mg. capsules. The exact dose is not critical, so if you daughter's dose calculates to 12 mg.per day, use about half a capsule. Furadantin, the pediatric suspension of this drug is NOT well tolerated=nausea/vomiting.
The dizziness resembled being carsick, with lightheadedness and occasional moments of nausea and feeling faint (but I never passed out). I had a CAT scan and blood work twice, and so far no diagnosis for the dizziness/fatigue. It got better for a few weeks but last week I began to have dizzy spells again, this time accompanied by maxillary sinus pressure. I had just switched allergy medications, from Nasonex to generic Flonase, right at the time my symptoms returned.
I took the antibiotic which seemed to clear up what I thought was a sinus infection but I still wasn't feeling better and my glands were very swollen (they still are too a degree). The doctor prescribed augmentin due to the remaining swollen glands and remaining flu like symptoms. On April 16th, I had tingling in my hands and feelings of pure exhaustion. My blood pressure was lower than normal (for me) and I felt somewhat light headed.
A couple of side effects of Cefuroxime Axetil are nausea and vomiting. Lots of people do not accept nor tolerate certain medications well. Tell your doctor how CA is affecting your well being. If you're taking antibiotics because of an infection its best that you change to another med immediately not stop altogether as you can worsen the infection.
augmentin is very similar to Clavamox. augmentin can occasionally cause stomach upsets (vomiting and diarrhea). The dose of augmentin is all right for your dog. All of the supplements you mention are good except the vinegar. It would really be best to have a urinalysis performed though and treat under veterinary supervision.
I had photophobia, mental confusion, memory loss, a rash on my arms and abdomen, and some vomiting. Thank God I was given antibiotics, and that phase finally ended after 4 weeks of oral clindamycin. No one has been able to tell me what that was - why I was SO sick during that time. If I had to guess, I think I had an inflammatory reaction to the infection, and this may have possibly caused something like an aseptic meningitis? But I was never given a lumbar puncture, so there's no way to tell.
Yeah, tingling is one of my main symptoms as well...but it's not constant. If yours is constant, then I bet it has everything to do with the buldging disk!!! Good luck!!!
On rare occasions, anxiety, confusion, dizziness, and insomnia have been reported with augmentin. Nausea is often associated with augmentin therapy. The most common side-effects reported with Lexapro are nausea, difficulty sleeping, drowsiness, increased sweating and fatigue. Symptoms of thyroid hormone excess include diarrhea, fever, headache, heat intolerance, irritability, nausea/vomiting, tremor, and weight loss.
augmentin is about the only abx that I can't tolerate, I had vomiting and the runs from it. (Yes, at the same time! It was the only time I was grateful for the sink-right-in-front-of-toilet set-up in my then studio apartment.) Onward and upward!
I saw the GI doctor on Monday of this week and he thinks my colon is infected/inflamed and put me back on augmentin for 10 days along with two doses of miralax and two doses of colace for a week, and a fleets enema the first night. I'm still not having great bowel movements at this point. Has anyone else had these kinds of problems following sigmoidectomy? The surgeon and the GI doc keep saying, I don't know what happened with your surgery. You should be doing good by now.
Sudden onset of nausea, sweats, and change in acuity in near (8 ft.) and distant (driving) vision occurred immediately after a routine eye exam. Pupil were dilated 8 hrs. Patient was at the time taking augmentin. Two trips to an opthamologist have not revealed the cause; although blepharitis was diagnosed post/eye exam, by another Dr. other than the examining one. Both opthamologists assert pupil dilation could not adversely change vision. Warm soaks have helped;eyes still sore and blurry.
Not sure but the headache could be due to dehydration.
Since that time, I continue to have chronic dizziness, occasonal nauseau and spontaneous vomiting along with headaches. I have had an MRI, which was clear in addition to a ENG which showed that my vestibular system is working correctly. I did try some VRT for the dizzyness, but that did not help. The dizziness become more severe the more physical activity I do, especially any head movement or getting up and down. I also have moments of brain fog and exhaustion.
I am allergic to most antibiotics and had an extreme reaction to augmentin which was given after the erythromycin (I only took one pill) : : and which caused vomiting so violent that I had tiny red bruises from my cheekbones to my hairline and dark purple bruises under my eyes, : : red "whites" of the eyes and a small amount of bleeding from them as well. I don't believe it is related to eating in anyway since eating has no effect and it is around day and night. A few months ago I was on augmentin for 21 days for possible mastoid/ear infection (which cleared right up). I also had a stool workup (For c. difficile(?)) What could cause such a sudden onset of mild nausea (no vomiting) seemingly unrelated to eating. Could it be related to the augmentin which I stopped about 8 weeks ago?
Hi eshores, I too went through the same thing with my daughter last year, first I sympathize with you, I know this isn't easy for either of you. My daughter had the same reaction to amoxicillin, mild rash, fussy, diarrhea and vomiting, I ended up taking her to the ER for it,because I was so worried.
A few months ago I had a red rash all over my front and unexplained nausea/vomiting. I have dark urine and I'm on 10 days of flagyl. I'm having this pain in my groin vein like there was a blockage which went away after taking 20mg of prednisone after the UTI last year the doctor didn't treat the blood in the urine for months. they did a CT with dye-negative.
He prescribed me an augmentin from H. Pylori. That night I had a vomiting just clear water and feeling something stuck in the throat. Since I've been having belching at all time, and 2-3 days ago I have sore throat and pain radiates to my left ear. I am having pain in my back between the shoulders as well for 3-4 days. I had a Barium Swallowing done, everything is normal but I do not feel normal at all. I do not having problems with swallowing solid or fluids.
This got better with paracetamol, and augmentin. On 31st October I went for HIV testing (8 weeks after first exposure, 2+ weeks after second exposure) using ELISA test + Western Blot. Both came back negative. On 6th November I developed a mild sore throat (no fever), coupled with ear pain, mild headache, jaw pain, swelling of my left parotid gland, and flashes of pain in my armpits. I have seen three doctors who have checked all my lymph nodes and said there is no lymphadenopathy at all.
I have subsequently had two more episodes of pharyngitis, the most recent also causing severe bronchitis.) I am allergic to most antibiotics and had an extreme reaction to augmentin which was given after the erythromycin (I only took one pill) and which caused vomiting so violent that I had tiny red bruises from my cheekbones to my hairline and dark purple bruises under my eyes, red "whites" of the eyes and a small amount of bleeding from them as well.
