I was fine while on the medicine, but two days after I went off I started having diarrhea and/or loose/soft stools. This has lasted for 8 weeks now and so far I've not gotten any answers from the doc. They've put me on probiotics, which I've taken faithfully, to no avail. I went on a bland diet, that didn't help either. They tested me for C Diff and parasites, both negative. Any ideas?
Yes Augmentin can be too strong and actually kills the good bacteria along with the bad. I would suggest any time you take an antibiotic, you should take a probiotic as well. This will replenish the good bacteria which will reduce the chanes of getting a yeast infection. There are specific probiotics for vaginal health. Anytime I'm prescribe a strong antibiotic I go ahead and ask for a prescription of Diflucan. I hope you find relief soon!
( Symptoms include itching especially at night, red rash in the creases that burn, red-brown single spots, my vag is a little sore, no discharge, slight tears in hood of clit and on anus, bump on perineum, everytime I use the bathroom my anus spots blood. Itching did get better after shaving. My Pap Smear came back as LSIL mild dysplasia with HPV effects. I have Herpes 1 so I tried my Val but it didnt do anything.
t gone away and has only improved about 30% since taking probiotics and eating a lot of fermented foods and coconut yogurt with live cultures. The Kevita probiotic drinks help the most. I have a 'lazy colon' and it's usually challenging to get the urge to have a bowel movement but now it's even worse! I have to basically push it all out, which never works well.
I wake up several times a night in discomfort due to the bloating and 'tight' feeling in my abdomen and belly.
I went back in and he gave me a three month antibiotic called augmentin.. So i changed my diet and started taking the medication.. I stopped eating red meat, no sugar, and low- carbs. Really low carbs.. The medicine started giving me bad side effcts, like stomach pain, head burning, joint pain, bad gas, stay bloated.. severe stomach cramping. So i stopped taking the medicine.. And then the stomach problems got worser..
it was back and this time it went straight to dry inflamed mode. Augmentin did not help. In fact from all the augmentin I got yeast and/or BV. I was given flagyl which worked for 2 weeks then it all came back with a vengeance. I didn't just have vaginal inflammation but ulcerated sores in my rectum as well. I'm still suffering from that as medications didn't make it completely go away.
so I took my STD test but before I got the result I panicked thinking of gonorrhea or syphilis and took Augmentin for 3 days. Now the tests are all negative but considering the window period for some STD, should I finish taking Augmentin as a precaution to get rid of the possible infection? Thank you.
Because I had been previously diagnosed (and treated with 1000mg Amoxicillin three times daily) with a sinus and left ear infection about a month earlier he suspected that I could possibly have some type of resistant sinusitus and prescribed Augmentin XR (1000 mg) 2 pills twice a day. I had oral sex again with the asymptomatic guy again on 4/11. I was informed by the guy who developed gonorrhea of all this today, 4/14, and have not had sex with him since before his symptoms began.
I was wondering if anyone else has taken Augmentin. I was prescribed it for a double ear infection. Originally I was given acetic acid drops but they aren't working.
I plan on calling my OB in the morning to double check. They are pregnancy category B. Although they are thought to be safe not many studies have been done on them. I'm nervous about everything. This is my first pregnancy and I am only 18.

However, last week of Februaru I developed white spots at the back of my throat. My doctor said it was strep and gave me Augmentin which reduced the appearance somewhat but not completely. I got the covid vaccine astrazeneca, got a fever and the white spots increased once again (even worse). My doctor gave me Augmentin again for a week along with flucanazole. I’m at the end of the course of treatment. The white spots have decreased but some are still there.
It is highly likely that Augmentin in the dose and duration I just recommended would abort incubating gonorrhea -- which almost certainly you didn't catch anyway. You can safely take the drug then continue unprotected sex with your wife.

was aware I had the seizure problem and prescribed cipro, which I had to call and tell them to send me something different. The one at the pharmacy now is Augmentin. Just need a neurologist`s expert opinion as to whether or not it is alright to take Augmentin with my myoclonic seizure condition. Do not want to start up any seizures. However, this UTI is hurting so badly!!! If It is too risky then I can`t take it!!!! Please help me.
Augmentin will affect your pill. The other one I do not know about. It probably takes a couple of days for the antiboitics to get out of your system. You might wanna use a second form of protection just in case.
He thought I had a secondary infection in the uterus and gave me Augmentin to take along with the other I am taking. It has been 36 hours and my breast is still really red and sore. I don't know what to do! I am worried that it may lead to sepsis?? Or should I not be worried since I am taking augmentin? It is the weekend, so I can't call my doc again. I haven't had a recurrence of fever or chills. Was the fever just a symtom of Mastitis?
She tried treating me with high powered probiotics first but then after 4 months she tested me again and I was still positive. I have not started taking the Flagyl yet. She had first prescribed the vanomycin but it was so expensive and the pharmacy would have to special order it. So i had her switch to Flagyl. I called a gastreonolist office today that I had seen for some other problems years ago, they are suppose to call me back tomorrow about testing me at their office.

It may be Augmentin or it may be something else. I think you should mention this to your doctor.
I am 35 weeks pregnant and I just fought a urethritis and cervicitis with antibiotics about 2 weeks ago. I can feel like I still have symptoms of an infection because of the smell and color fluids (yellow or light brown)coming out of my vagina. They symptoms of bacterial infection ( urge to frequently urinate and unable to pass adequate urine, dribbling, burning and itching) had vanished after I took Niftran, Dio-1 and Fole 150 but now they seem to have appeared again. I constantly feel the urge to urinate but could pass only a little and I tend to dribble too. Its usually wet/leaky near and inside vagina.
