Arimidex for fat loss

Common Questions and Answers about Arimidex for fat loss

arimidex

Avatar m tn Hi: You don't mention what cancer you had but being in the BC Forum I suppose you had just that. Do you remember what color was your chemo cocktail? Was it sort of pink or red? If the color matches the chemo you got then your hair loss if from chemo though Arimidex also causes hair loss. While you are on Arimidex I don't believe you will see much hair growth. For further information on side effects from Arimidex the enclosed link is to an Arimidex Forum, check it: http://www.
Avatar f tn I had only one little tumor that was invasive and estrogen receptive and I was reluctant to start Arimidex too... but my surgeon strongly suggested that it was better for me to take it for at least five years.Hoping that you will make the right decision after discussing it with your doctor.Best wishes and take care.
Avatar f tn I switched to Aromasin from Arimidex and my I began losing my hair immediately. Changed back after 6 days but a week later, I'm still losing hair. Any ideas on how long this will continue?
Avatar n tn I don't know of anything unless you would reduce the caloric intake although it might not be totally due to food. It might also depend on what those calories are coming from. Good Luck....
Avatar f tn pr- and hr1, she had had neo-adj chemo , masectomy and radiation, the tumour biopsy states that the tumour is weakly positive for er, she has been advised armidex. it was a locally advanced cancer. thinking if armidex will benefit, is it worth the side affects. This discussion is related to er pr her-2 nue negative test results.
Avatar f tn Many thanks for your response and advice. I have been on both drugs together - Arimidex for 4 yrs, Fosamax for 3 yrs. I stopped the Arimidex 4 wks ago but have continued with weekly Fosamax. The bone pain in my hip and foot has diminished considerably, although I still have shooting pains in both thumbs and 1st 2 fingers. I am a little confused as to your advice......when you say "a possible brilliant solution is to take these drugs together WITH bone protective agents...
Avatar n tn So very sorry to hear of your wife's spread but you sound a wonderful caring husband - she is very lucky to have you. Regarding Arimidex, after a WLE,and total axillary removal 5 yrs ago, I had 6 FEC chemo and 25 rads. During rads I was prescribed tamoxifen, took it for 2 months and my then Onc (discharged me after chemo and rads and since retired so I have no one now) switched me to Arimidex.
Avatar f tn They say that the bad symptoms will eventually disappear and I sure hope that the belly problem will follow suit .My surgeon is thinking of prescribing Arimidex for an additional 2 years for better protection :( So after a total of seven years on this medicine, I hope that I'll have the strength to even exercise on my treadmill.. LOL... Anyway,I am just thankful that I am cancer free now, hoping that the Arimidex is doing it's job .
Avatar n tn My case is very similar to yours,my bone density is not very good either.I've been taking arimidex for almost a year now and so far, I've been tolerating it pretty well . For my bones I take Calcium+vitamin D, and once weekly Novo Alendronate which is the equivalent of what you are taking now.
Avatar n tn I have been on Arimidex for seven months and experienced an increase in libido, I am 72. The Oncologist checked for an increase in testosterone. Result: normal. The Doctor checked with an endocrinologist. The Arimidex is blocking the estrogen production and the body recognizes the testosterone more readily and reacts. Are there other women with this reaction?
Avatar m tn After seeing an endocrinologist who ran all types of blood work which came back normal with the exception of his estrogen level a bit higher then normal and had an X-ray of his hand which showed bones of a 13 half to 14 half yr old (I was told was good ) want to give my son arimidex. My question is......is this safe for teen boys. I read its not FDA approved for children.
Avatar f tn Anyone taking Arimidex or has taken it in the past. I am looking for feedback if it helped lower the ca 125??? My CA 125 is rising from 93 to 156 and now in the 230's... however nothing has changed on my pet scan and no measurable disease... I am seeing my onc on Monday...and he had recommended to try if i want Arimidex. I have other options like trying different chemo's... but then we are just treating the number... I wanted to give this a try.... what do you think...
Avatar n tn Hi - after I finished chemo and starting rads in 2003 I was prescribed tamoxifen, took it for 2 months and my Oncologist changed me to Arimidex (one of the aromatose inhibitors) which I think has a 50% better prognosis for non recurrence than the old "gold standard" tamoxifen. I was thrilled, as it had just come on to the market here in England. However, 4 yrs down the line, I stopped it 4 weeks ago, due to severe bone pain (hips, hands and feet) and the pain has gone!
Avatar n tn I have only had Arimidex. I only took it for about 2 months during my remission. I didn't really understand that it could have actually prevented my recurrence. It did cause a similiar bone pain to the carbo/taxol I had done. For that reason I quit taking it. There are doctors also using one now called Femara. Maybe one of those would work for you.
Avatar f tn Dear river1980, Both Femara (letrozole) and Arimidex (anastrozole) are aromatase inhibitors used in the treatment of hormone receptor positive breast cancer in post menopausal women. Aromatase inhibitors block the enzyme aromatase (found in the body's muscle, skin, breast and fat), which is used to convert androgens (hormones produced by the adrenal glands) into estrogen. In the absence of estrogen, tumors dependent on this hormone for growth will shrink.
Avatar f tn 30am, at 12:30p I went to bed for a few hours. Long story, short....I've been feeling horrible since last Tuesday. No energy, very tired and shaky, MENTAL FOG, very emotional, I've cried at least one time everyday since. Even when I was diagnosed with BC i believe I cried only once. I feel I can't do this for 5 years. I tried 1/2 pill yesterday to see if there is any difference, I think there is.
Avatar f tn I am trying this special scale now that tells me my bone density, water and muscle level. The number are 40% for fat, which is strange, 35% and 35% for water and muscle, and bone is 4%.
Avatar f tn itself, and you will still be burning calories/fat. Including a daily amount of even light exercise - 30 minutes of moderate walking, for example - will have much better effects, however.
Avatar n tn I want a diet for fat loss.. I want to reduce 5 kg weight. I am 5'2 in height.. And my weight is 53kg Please suggest me a good fat loss diet and protein powder..
Avatar n tn I learned that some weman experienced elevated blood pressure and blood clots while on Arimidex. And Arimidex is known to cause high blood pressure and blood clots. How do know for sure that Arimidex is the cause of my high blood pressure?
Avatar f tn Hi Everyone, After 3 months of Femara I suddenly developed carpel tunnel syndrome. My entire right arm became numb in the middle of the night; I thought I was having a stroke or heart attack. I called Novartis & they sent me the requested 9 pages of info about musculoskeletal side effects, the most common being carpel tunnel & trigger finger. I saw a hand specialist who provided hand braces and said I would eventually need the surgery.
Avatar f tn Hi, I found this information for you.I am also taking Arimidex and of course I am very interested in knowing more about this medication. My breast surgeon told me also that by taking Arimidex reduces the development of new breast cancers by 50 per cent. ----------------------------------------- Arimidex most effective in breast cancer study.
Avatar n tn ) I also now occasionally consult a holistic MD (referred by my oncologist) for nutritional advice. I am thinking of adding a supplement with the arimidex (broccoli seed extract - a natural aromatase inhibitor) and monitoring estradiol/estrone with blood tests after starting the supplement. If there were a negative interaction between the arimidex and the broccoli seed extract, how accurate would the blood test's estrogen results be?
Avatar n tn Hi again, First a caution/disclaimer: I am not a doctor, so please don't use any information or opinions I offer to try to convice your wife's oncologist to alter his plan! (They really hate it when someone over the Internet thinks s/he knows better than the treating physicians what is best for their patients, and I don't blame them a bit!
