Arimidex clinical studies

Common Questions and Answers about Arimidex clinical studies

arimidex

Avatar n tn Though there is a good theoretical basis for the use of arimidex on endometriosis, I believe that this is still an off-label indication for the drug and the clinical basis for its use is still from phase II clinical trials (studies with still low number of patients). Until such time that the indication of endometriosis can be demonstrated in large phase III clinical trials, the use of arimidex for endometriosis is still controversial.
Avatar m tn Yeah i remember that case... it was awlful. My heart really went out to those guys... turned out the drug should of been administered over the course of hours instead of mins... major balls up. Something i would never try either.
1415174 tn?1453243103 I am posting again to ask a question my friend that is taking Arimidex for grade 1 breast cancer. She has been taking Arimidex for about 6 months now and has had a hallucination. Has anyone had this happen. I read it may be a rare side effect but it isn't on the package insert.
1030058 tn?1252253572 I then had 4 cycles of Adriamycin and Cytoxin. I have now nearly completed 5 years of Arimidex, My Oncologist ir recommending that in October I change to Femara secondary to a clinical trial which has concluded that I am at some risk of the cancer still recurring. I am unsure about this as the side effects of the arimidex hot flashes, weight gain etc causing me to be on a high dose of Effexor are quite debilitating at times.
Avatar n tn Please inform me of side effects of Arimidex. Also confirm whether clinical tests proved that arimidex really prevent cancer from returning. Recently I had a lumpectomy. The cancer was confined to the lump in my breast and did not spread to the limph nodes. I had a serie of 30 radiation treatments. My bone density is deteriorating, thus I would like to know whether I have to take osteobond 70mg weekly. Will arimidex contribute to loss of bone density? Thank you very much. Susan.
Avatar f tn I just completed 5 years on arimidex and have been asked to be part of a study and go on it for another 5 years. Has cancer reoccurred in patients while they have been on arimidex, not due to the drug, but due to the cancer. In other words, does taking arimidex prevent cancer from reoccurring while a patient is on it?
Avatar n tn Does Arimidex have to actually kill you vs. maiming you for life, in order to be pulled off the market? At 58, I may need a hip replacement because I took Arimidex for two years! 1162347 tn?1293503170 Once over my first cancer, my oncologist requested a bilateral breast MRI + bilateral mammogram+ clinical exam. Had them all, the MRI and clinical exam were clean but the right breast mammogram showed clustered lobular micro calcifications and a surgical biopsy recommended. Two days later I had the biopsy & 1/3 of my right breast was removed with a slight reconstruction.
Avatar n tn Will broccoli seed extract capsules interfere with Arimidex if I take them both? Apparently broccoli seed extract is also an aromatase inhibitor. I am on Arimidex and blood tests indicate that it is working, as my estrogen levels are low. But a 24-hour urine test prescribed by an M.D. with a holistic practice showed a problem in one of my estrogen pathways, and recommended a broccoli seed extract with SGS (sulforaphane glucosinolate). Might it enhance or interfere with Arimidex?
Avatar f tn Anyone taking Arimidex or has taken it in the past. I am looking for feedback if it helped lower the ca 125??? My CA 125 is rising from 93 to 156 and now in the 230's... however nothing has changed on my pet scan and no measurable disease... I am seeing my onc on Monday...and he had recommended to try if i want Arimidex. I have other options like trying different chemo's... but then we are just treating the number... I wanted to give this a try.... what do you think...
Avatar n tn I have been on Arimidex for seven months and experienced an increase in libido, I am 72. The Oncologist checked for an increase in testosterone. Result: normal. The Doctor checked with an endocrinologist. The Arimidex is blocking the estrogen production and the body recognizes the testosterone more readily and reacts. Are there other women with this reaction?
Avatar f tn 6 rounds of carbo/taxol w/first 2 rounds also w/doxil under clinical trial (kicked off because no hematologic recovery) --CA125 down to 5.8 -- 15 months remission 6 months of tamoxifen then needed chemo again (CA125 up to 291) in Jan 2007 -- 6 cycles carbo/taxol CA125 ended at 7.
Avatar m tn how does one get involved in hepC clinical studies i have not insurance and cannot yet get disability/medicaid....interested in sofosbuvir/daclatasvir with or without ribavirin.
Avatar f tn I tried first tamoxifen made me tired and nausous then I tried Femara, the pain was so great in my joints and muscle went off it I am now on Arimidex and 5 months into it it seems ok. I have gone off it once before one of my races because of pain. Arimidex is in the same family as femara only a little gentler..As my doctor said he doesn't know if it will help and it is not chemo but I am 16 months past chemo and have been on an estrogen blocker the whole time.

1722607 tn?1335747858 I have been given 5 studies to choose from. They are all different and Im feeling a little overwhelmed. How should I choose? What questions should I ask?
Avatar n tn Follow up for breast cancer is based upon the preferences of physicians as well as the specifics of the disease. The ASCO (American Society of Clinical Oncology) guidelines do not recommend regular scanning for “screening” for metastasis. Evidence suggests that scanning does not generally pick up metastatic disease early enough to change the course of treatment. You may benefit from a discussion with your wife's oncologist.
492898 tn?1222243598 I know everyone is different and all that but thought maybe someone can share their experiences or other knowledge about Aromasin? I was on Tamoxifen, then switched to Arimidex which was a nightmare. Then Femara which was a little less horrible but too horrible to continue. The I went back on tamoxifen and today I saw my oncologist and he wants me to try Aromasin. He says the reason is mostly because of my taking prozac, and the problems this can cause with Tamoxifen.
Avatar m tn Of these, 487 were clinical trials (356 RCT and 131 non-RCT), 80 were pre-clinical experimental studies, and 76 were summaries of non-randomized clinical experience. Out of these studies, the researchers identified 53 RCTs that reported random allocation of patients with chronic hepatitis B to treatment with TCM formulations; these trials met the inclusion criteria and were used in the meta-analysis.
Avatar f tn This is now the third RNAi candidate in development with ARC-520 by Arrowhead Research, the most advanced, blazing the trail with a 3-year first-mover advantage (clinical studies commenced in the first half of 2013) over ALN-HBV. Tekmira’s candidate (TKM-HBV) is the third one in the mix having initiated a phase I study in January of this year. The main differentiating feature of Alnylam’s candidate is that it involves a single RNAi trigger and can be administered subcutaneously.
Avatar f tn Diagnosed IIIC July 2003 complete hysterectomy -- 1483 CA125 prior to surgery, 27 after first round of chemo --- Carbo/taxol/doxil two rounds on clinical trials then finished up with four rounds carbo taxol (kicked of trials no hemotologic recovery) -- CA125 was 5 -- started climbing 18 months later and used Tamoxifen for 6 months before starting another 6 rounds of carbo/taxol -- scans showed tumors still there although counts were 7.
Avatar n tn but many studies have shown that there is sufficient evidence to support that Arimidex reduce significantly the risk of recurrence as well as cancer in the opposite breast especially if your wife had an aggressive type of breast cancer.Unfortunately, this medication which is a "necessary evil", does cause a lot of side effects including hot flashes, but the benefits must always be weighed against the possible risks.
Avatar f tn Does anyone have any information on current or recent studies on this disease? I was recently diagnosed and would welcome any information. My T3 and T4 are normal but microsomal antibodies are 192(high). Thinning hair and weight gain are my concerns.
