Avatar m tn I know you will say I need checked out and I agree in my brain, but the other part of my brain wants to know if these long pain free periods over the course of 3 or so months without a perforation are typical of appendicitis issues? So, in summary, I am curious about the long course of this and the pain free periods. Thank you.
Avatar m tn Hi, appendicitis as such is more of a clinical diagnosis. In chronic appendicitis what we see may just be thickening of the bowel wall or appendix on a CT scan. But usually the image findings are correlated with clinical symptoms and blood tests. If an acute infection the neutrophils are raised and if due to tuberculosis, the lymphocytes are raised in blood counts.
Avatar f tn You have made an assumption as to what is causing the pain which is not possible without appropriate studies. Appendicitis isone of hundreds of things that can cause pain in the abdomen. The statement that your appendix feels like it getting bigger doesn't make sense. It is possible to have pain originating from the appendix without true appendicitis. An appendicolith can be sitting in the appendix and cause pain as the appendix attempts to expell it.
Avatar n tn s, it might be worth checking out. Normally, the muscles in the wall of the stomach contract in a coordinated way to move food through the stomach into the small intestine. The autonomic nervous system controls this muscular action. Diabetes can damage the autonomic nerves. This is called diabetic autonomic neuropathy. As a result, the stomach loses it's coordinated muscular activity and doesn't empty the stomach properly.
Avatar f tn According to WebMD diagnosing appendicitis can be tricky: "Symptoms of appendicitis are frequently vague or extremely similar to other ailments, including gallbladder problems, bladder or urinary tract infection, Crohn's disease, gastritis, intestinal infection, and ovary problems. The following tests are usually used to make the diagnosis.

You also get a fever, but appendicitis can start near the belly button then move to the right lower side. I think you should get her to a specialist and or get her to a doctor who will take her blood counts and possibly a CAT scan because it is dangerous if it bursts.
Avatar f tn thank you for your reply iv read a report in BMJ saying an unusual cause of this as appendicitis would this have shown up in the ultra sound scans or is a CT scan the only way to see this
Avatar n tn For three or more months I have had intermittent sharp pain in my right groin, right where my femoral pulse can be felt. It occasionally wakes me up at night. Lately, I've begun having random, sharp pains in both my lower extremities. It's not muscular. I've had no injuries. Suggestions?
Avatar n tn You have mentioned that you were diagnosed with appendicitis. Was an appendectomy done? In this case I would suggest that an abdominal ultrasound may be done to ascertain the cause of the pain. A baseline urinalyis and urine culture may also be helpful to determine if infections or urinary tract stones may be present. I do not think the fungal infection has been causing the pain. Unless the area is swollen and severely infected the tenderness may be noted when the skin is palpated.
Avatar m tn On to the other symptoms, I have been having weird twitches all over my body, but most frequently right above my left ear, in my left side, in my legs, in my right neck, in my left eye and a couple of other places. I drink caffeine a bit (I am in law school and I need it) but it usually is only a cup of coffee and maybe a Vault a day. I don't drink too heavily, though when I do, these twitches seem to get worse.

Avatar n tn Mesenteric Lymphadenopathy This is a very common cause of right side abdominal pain in children. It presents as pain in the right lower abdomen. Typically, the child would have had cold or sore throat in the preceding days up to two weeks. The neck glands would be enlarged. This is often confused with appendictis. The difference been that the child would still retain his or her appetite.
Avatar n tn I have had on-going pain in right abdominal area for months. I had it checked nearly a year ago, and it does not go away. The doctor merely did a physical on-site diagnosis. Should I ask for an MRI or ultrasound? It seems abnormal that it continues. Sometimes it spreads across to left side as well, but usually it is localized on right side. Sometimes it shoots up and down my leg.
Avatar n tn Benign dermoid ovarian cysts uncommonly cause symptoms in young girls. It is estimated that they constitute 0.35% of all tumors occurring in children of both sexes less than 15 years of age. Symptoms produced by the cysts may mimic other intra-abdominal disease, and in three of the four cases reported in this series the girls were initially considered to have either acute appendicitis or infection of the urinary tract. All three had a pelvic mass palpable per rectum.
Avatar m tn Hello, My case can look rather particular in fact it is the second time in ten years that I have to undergo surgery due to ovarian cysts ruptures on my right ovary and every time the doctors in ER first think of an acute appendicitis which make them run a quantity of useless tests while I am in pain and makes me even more doubtful and worried.

1980489 tn?1326255851 The symptoms are the same in adults as in children - but keep in mind that not every adult has every symptom and neither does every child. I had it - and we all present pretty differently even though we are the same? Muscle fatigue means that exercise is pretty much a disaster - and the fatigue is overwhelming.
Avatar f tn Pain in the lower right area may be from inflamed glands, appendicitis, renal colic or muscular problem. Have to lifted or moved anything heavy before this pain came on? As you are also feeling unwell, I suggest you make an appointment to see your doctor to get the correct diagnosis. Take a morning urine sample with you. You could use a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel to stop skin burn and place this on the painful side and take pain relief as directed on the packet.
Avatar f tn (in children) In adults, this type of thing would show up as an Axis II personality disorder. In children, particularly 4 (very young for this kind of diagnosis, ADD/ADHD as well - and I would hold off on the meds until a second or third opinion is obtained..cheaper than treatment I'm sure...) ALSO - (I have personal experience in this - my 5 yr old girl had wild tantrums, and I was very worried,, and took her to different drs...
