Hi J..may I ask what they gave you augmentin for ? If it was for the winter upper resporitory crap that was going around then maybe it wasn't strong enough. Augmentin is a pretty broad spectrum anti. Maybe ask for Zpack (zithromycin).
The trouble with antibiotics are doctors over prescribe this crap and becomes ineffective as the bugs become resistant.

I had oral sex again with the asymptomatic guy again on 4/11. I was informed by the guy who developed gonorrhea of all this today, 4/14, and have not had sex with him since before his symptoms began.
Also, the infection has been treated with numerous antibiotics (amoxicillin, flagyl, omnicef, augmentin, clindamycin), and all seem to help at first, but only clindamycin has lasting effects. Not even augmentin worked. Any idea on what kind of bacteria would respond to clindamycin but not augmentin?
1) although not preferred, will the Augmentin regimen clear me of anything?
2) how soon could I be accurately tested for STD's?
Hi, antibiotics, such as amoxicillin for 2 weeks, have been the recommended first-line treatment of uncomplicated acute sinusitis. Amoxicillin-clavulanate (Augmentin) is also an appropriate first-line treatment of uncomplicated acute sinusitis. Other options include cephalosporins such as cefpodoxime proxetil (Vantin) and cefuroxime (Ceftin). In patients allergic to beta-lactams, trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (Bactrim), clarithromycin (Biaxin), and azithromycin.
Strep can be resistant. Amoxicillin unless in high doses or mixed with clavulanate acid (making the brand name Augmentin) can be ineffective and the azithromycin add on really sounds like an odd choice to treat strep. Call your doctor and tell them you are not improving. You normally start to feel better within 48 hours on an antibiotic with lessoning of symptoms (always take the full course of the medication though even if you feel better).

I'ts been two days, I still have the same diarrhea and the treatment should be until monday (the day I'll see my doctor). I'm really afraid about this antibiotic, but I know it's important to take it for 8 days. Do you think it's dangerous to keep with augmentin or should I stop it? It's already 4 days now with this really liquid diahrrea.

I have some weird smell in my upper palate and the top of my rhinopharynx after taking Augmentin 1000 (Amoxicillin + Clavulanic acid), 2x/day for 5.5 days to cure my Helicobacter and gastritis. I took the last pill ~40 hours ago, but still got this ... strange, foul smell, and it drives me nuts!

Just need a neurologist`s expert opinion as to whether or not it is alright to take Augmentin with my myoclonic seizure condition. Do not want to start up any seizures. However, this UTI is hurting so badly!!! If It is too risky then I can`t take it!!!! Please help me. If the medication doesn`t go with my seizure condition, then please tell me what the safest antibiotic would be. Thank you!!!

I went and saw a immediate care doctor who put me on Augmentin (Amoxicillin and Clavulanate Potassium) to treat it. About 3 days later all symptoms of the STD were gone. I am not sure of the Augmentin cleared up the STD. I need to have a conversation with my boyfriend about this but I also need to know that I actually had an STD before I accuse him of giving me one. If I did have an STD there is no chance it was from anyone else and he also needs to get treated.
I've had a sinus infection for five days and have been on antibiotics (augmentin, or amoxicillin) for 2.5 days (5 doses) already and have seen no improvement. Doctor has prescribed me Augmentin 875-125 mg (Amoxicillin/clavulanic acid) twice a day for 1 week (I think the 875 is the Amoxicillin part and 125 maybe the clavulanic acid). I will take the meds and see if the infection goes away.
So on the 19th, My wife was in a world of pain and really swollenafter 5 days of antibiotics. She’d taken amoxicillin and clindamycin and neither helped. She went to the surgeon and he did an I&D and extracted the tooth. He switched her to augmentin. By Monday the pain was worse, she couldn’t swallow, the cheek was bigger and she’d developed cellulitis so we went to the ED. They admitted her and on Tuesday they did another I&D and extracted 2 more teeth. They put a drain in as well.
The only thing I can say here is with amoxicillin you need at least 10-12 consecutive days of proper dose therapy to get rid of streptococcal infections.
Ive had my Urine Sample results today and found out that ive got a kidney infection so the doc as put me on a course of Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanic acid) for 7 days.
In light of the treatment with Augmentin (the combo of Amox and Clav) and yet you still have enlarged axillary lymph nodes, further diagnostics need to be done. Has your CBC been repeated since the antibiotic was completed to see if numbers changed? In this country, Augmentin is given for 10 days for infections, and perhaps that's what you need to insure that the infection is entirely gone. Given that your axillary node is still enlarged, there is surely something going on...
