Amoxicillin is fine if it's the correct antibiotic. Dental infections can be from either an aerobic bacteria or anaerobic bacteria. Having the correct antibiotic is VERY important.

Amoxicillin in the preferred antibiotic in dental infections. The usual adult dosage is 500 mg given every 6-8 hrly.The dosage may be increased or decreased depending on the severity of infection. If you are having a dental infection or cavity it is best to get it treated by a root canal before the problem aggravates. See a dentist.

I had to have a root canal redone as my previous dentist did not get the whole nerve and it became infected. The Dentist put me on amoxicillin 875mg twice a day, after 6 days I called him as it was having no effect. he then put me on clyndamycin 300mg twice a day, this is day two, it seemed better this morning and by this afternoon it isswelling slightly the tissue above my tooth is spongie again and I can tell it's filling with pus.
I just got done with a prescription for 875 mg of amoxicillin twice a day for 10 days. Will that cure chlamydia and gonorrhea??

The dose for amoxicillin is 62.5 mg per cat twice per day. Amoxicillin is a form of penicillin. A 20 pound cat is really equivalent to two average sized cats so I think that you could safely increase the dose to 75mg twice daily. 50mg of penicillin twice daily is under dosing for any cat. Please try and actually weigh him to be sure or his most recent weight since he may have lost weight since the incident.

What are the actual levels of your FT3 and FT4, along with the lab's reference ranges? Your TSH is still too high (normal range is 0.3-3.0, even though some labs are still using outdated ranges), but you need to be adjusting med based on symptoms and the FT's, not just TSH.
If that's (TSH) all your doctor is looking at, get a different one. I don't understand why he's waiting another 2 months to retest.

After about 6 weeks with the TPN and steroids, the diarrhea improved. Two weeks later she was put on amoxicillin for a sinus infection. After 2 doses, the diarrhea was back, and bad! We stopped the amoxicillin, but the diarrhea has continued for another 3 weeks and she has again lost 2lbs. Our doctors are out of suggestions, and say that this is just how it's going to be. I refused to believe that there is no source of this diarrhea and therefore nothing that we can do about it.
