Avatar f tn Do the words/terms "polyethylene glycol" and "PEG" and "pegylated" and "pegylated interferon" all refer to the same thing? I copied the acronym list, but it's still rather confusing to me. I'm looking at a randomized trial with one arm getting 24 weeks of "pegylated interferon and ribavirin" and the other arm gets 12 weeks of "PSI-7977 and ribavirin".
Avatar n tn Hello Doctor Parks, I would like to understand more about latex paints that use Ethylene Glycol. I found some floor paint that uses this and I wonder why would this be used as Ethylene Glycol is toxic if someone drinks the liquid. When painting with this 'latex' paint, even with the windows open, I was dizzy and had a headache. It evaporates so fast! I thought that latex paint was more safe then oil paints but this one was very strong.

Avatar f tn The vet who was talking to the couple and she went into the room where the catboxes were, and commented on the smell, and she had handheld meter that she set down on the floor. It measured ammonia in the air. OSHA has limits of something like 25 ppm for people working in industry, apparently over that amount of ammonia in the air is bad for the lungs. As they were talking, the meter went over 25, then over 40, then over 60, then I think it stopped in the 70s or 80s.
Avatar f tn Mine just get super itchy and the most horrible part I can't reach to scratch lol.
Avatar f tn There is interferon which you used to give a shot daily. The pegylated version attaches Poly Ethylene Glycol (PEG) to the molecules to make it stay in your blood at higher concentrations longer. Kind of like a time release (sort of) .The 2 manufacturers of PEG being Roche (pegasys) and Sherring Plough (Peg-Intron). The main difference between those two is the molecule size. Some ask and argue which is better and which has the least side effects. It seems to be split.
Avatar f tn No, fish oil needs no refrigeration if it's in gel caps. It's the flax seed oil that needs the refrigeration.
Avatar n tn for the past 2 or 3 years i've had stomach pains that would come and go once in a while so i tryed not eating dairy which seemed to help for a little but after a few months the stomach pains returned. other then a few stomach pains i've been really healthy and almost never get sick. i'm now 15 and for the past 7 months the stomach pains have gotten alot worse and more often. i also have severe diarrhea almost everyday and had blood in my stool for about 2 week but it just went away.
824185 tn?1257295273 I do know that peg stands for polyethelene glycol which in laymens terms is antifreeze. I asked my hep c dr. about this and he told me that is true but its only a very small amt. It only takes a sml. amt. to kill a cat or a dog so how about a virus? How about our bodies? Does anyone know the rest of the cocktail in terms that we can understand.
4333925 tn?1359102442 But I gave up a free glycol peel. No exfoliating scrubs. No body wash. Still use dove soap and cetaphil bar soap in the shower. Also the liquid cetaphil is in kitchen & bath counter. Best thing I ever did. I was destroying my hands with kohls liquid hand soap. I still use fabric sheets. Stayed with the same laundry soap. If your going to try new stuff introduce one thing at a time so if something happens you will know the culprit. Hair dye is ammonia free.
Avatar m tn At anytime I can have a major episode like yesturday when i went to see new moon and later when i went to my cousins house warming party. I cant control it and it is making my relationship strain. Why would i have a major panic attack causing symptoms of severe ammonia and burnt metallic smell through my nose bringing me back to consciousness? Why would i almost pass out and why would my brain feel numb?
514349 tn?1272801633 s hard and difficult to pass and flush. I sent an email to my gastro and he recommended polyethylene glycol for relief. I tried it according to the container directions, but it didn't change anything. I emailed him again and he said that it might take more than one dose and to take it several days in a row. I've had 3 doses now and nothing has changed. Can it be that polyethylene glycol doesn't work for some people?
Avatar n tn Hi there, Tammy is right. But, specifically the guidance says "Room temperature storage up to 30 days, if refrigeration is unavailable" Note: if refrigeration is unavailable Personally, I feel this does not include varying room temperatures and I would not advise anyone to leave it out in hi (hot) temperatures. But, that's my personal opinion. Would only feel comfortable to do something like that if I knew the temperatures at which the forumula/medicine would change.
Avatar f tn Smell it, if it's sweet it's amniotic fluid go to er. If it smells like ammonia it's urine. I peed myself from 20 weeks on and went to er several times because I didn't know it was pee. This time around I do kegels once a day (downloaded an app) I'm 33 weeks pregnant and I haven't peed myself once! It's just something that happens with all the weight coming down on your pelvic floor. It's most likely not amniotic fluid.
152660 tn?1291755571 Immediate actions are necessary to save patients that have ingested even small amounts of ethylene glycol, the most common ingredient in most types of antifreeze. As little as one tablespoon of dilute ethylene glycol can kill an average size cat. The chemical has a specific toxicity for the kidneys; death from irreversible kidney failure is common. Contact your veterinarian immediately.
Avatar f tn This is what this website (below said about antifreeze) http://pediatrics.about.com/od/immunizations/a/0608_vac_aditvs.htm "What about antifreeze? Don't vaccines have antifreeze in them? Not really. Some vaccines do contain the additive 2-phenoxyethanol, which is an organic chemical compound, but it is not the same as antifreeze (ethylene glycol and propylene glycol). 2-Phenoxyethanol is also a glycol ether and doesn't sound much better than antifreeze, so why is it in vaccines?
Avatar m tn Soft-moist treats contain propylene glycol. Propylene glycol is a relative of ethylene glycol, which is the ingredient in anti-freeze that kills your pet if they ingest it. Over time, the consumption of enough propylene glycol can do damage to your pet so it's best to avoid feeding it altogether. I buy sliced calves or beef liver and I boil it until it is cooked.

1008841 tn?1293598960 Hi there, I once had the same question you have now. I believe that the lactulose reduces the ammonia in your gut and brain and that's why it is important to take, if the ammonia gets too high it can cause you to have problems thinking, driving, cooking etc. I am not as good as explaining things as Hector so I have taken one of his explanations and am pasting it here. I also just read an explanation that the lactulose helps your body do the job the liver would do if it was working right.
10064121 tn?1415176073 The lactation specialist at my hospital said it's good for 12 hours no refrigeration. 36 hours refrigeration. 1 month in the door of a normal freezer. 3 months in a deep freeze.
Avatar f tn t heard that here except for the 1st shot night. Maybe warming up the towel by the heater would help for that? All the best....
867096 tn?1252202513 Worried himself to death Nick Sitzman was a strong, healthy, and ambitious young railroad yardman. One midsummer day, the train crews were informed that the could quit an hour early. While performing one last check, Nick was accidently locked in a refrigerator boxcar. He banged and shouted but no one heard him. Wanting to let his wife and children know exactly waht had happen to him, he found a knife and wrote on the floor "it's so cold, my body is getting numb.
Avatar f tn I remember how disoriented I was walking across the floor trying to get out of the house and it was just a small one! We have had 2 out in the gulf since I have lived in Fl. Now that is scary cause there could have been a tsunami. I worry about that and it may be enuff to get me to go back north. Hurricanes dont bother me cause we can out run them!
Avatar f tn After refrigeration, if my baby does not finish all the breastmilk, how long is it good for at room temp???
208686 tn?1293030503 I believe we do have some global warming however I dont think it is as bad as the Media say it is, I think the history of mankind shows we have had this kind of warming before and I take it more that it is a natural process at this time, I think we need to clean up our act and make our Air a lot better for us to breathe and be healthier.
Avatar m tn I’d developed a sensitivity to propylene glycol and/or parabens. I was also surprised to learn that these ingredients are in a lot of the products we put on our faces. Prior to discovering the cause, I was misdiagnosed and told over and over again by doctors and physician’s assistants that I could do nothing about it except find a prescription medication that worked for me, and then, at best it would only control the itchiness and redness, not cure it.
219241 tn?1413537765 s FDA) say that it should be refrigerated too. Australia is the only country to decide that refrigeration is the best way to store under 25 C. (77 F) There are many arguments about whether this correct. It is a hormone, a very sensitive one so it makes sense to me. I know that we are about to get 'blister packs' which will be much better for dispersing and avoiding condensation problems from in and out of fridge, and contamination from handling.
