Avatar n tn We have a pharmacy forum on MH go back to the forums page and look to your right.
Avatar f tn No, fish oil needs no refrigeration if it's in gel caps. It's the flax seed oil that needs the refrigeration.
Avatar n tn Hi there, Tammy is right. But, specifically the guidance says "Room temperature storage up to 30 days, if refrigeration is unavailable" Note: if refrigeration is unavailable Personally, I feel this does not include varying room temperatures and I would not advise anyone to leave it out in hi (hot) temperatures. But, that's my personal opinion. Would only feel comfortable to do something like that if I knew the temperatures at which the forumula/medicine would change.
Avatar m tn Great news on the depression part. It's horrible to wake up feeling that way. You can just never seem to shake that feeling when you wake up that way. I think you may have overdone it on the walk part. You have probably already gone the anti-imflammatory route but just in case you haven't, maybe try them. Also a nice long hot bath may help. You are doing fantastic.
Avatar n tn He was pretty stable until last Christmas, and his health has seriously declined since then. We are having a really hard time keeping his ammonia levels under control, despite following his liver doctor's orders to the letter. He is normally on 3/x daily of 30 m/l lactulose, and when his ammonia ticks up (as we can tell from increased cognitive impairment, decline of motor skills, etc.), we provide it to him every 2-3 hours until symptoms improve. Except that they often don't.
Avatar m tn My dad has cirrhosis of the liver and his ammonia levels are extremely high, he also has pneumonia. He is really really sick and I am just wondering if anybody knows what is happening to him.
10064121 tn?1415176073 The lactation specialist at my hospital said it's good for 12 hours no refrigeration. 36 hours refrigeration. 1 month in the door of a normal freezer. 3 months in a deep freeze.
1008841 tn?1293598960 Hi there, I once had the same question you have now. I believe that the lactulose reduces the ammonia in your gut and brain and that's why it is important to take, if the ammonia gets too high it can cause you to have problems thinking, driving, cooking etc. I am not as good as explaining things as Hector so I have taken one of his explanations and am pasting it here. I also just read an explanation that the lactulose helps your body do the job the liver would do if it was working right.
Avatar m tn The good news is that ringworm is not serious and rarely leads to other complications. The bad news is that it is a persistant fungus and can survive in the environment for months. Ringworm is not a worm, it is a fungal infection. It can be contagious but it is not what I would consider to be highly contagious. I would release the kitten from bathroom quarantine for a couple of reasons.
Avatar f tn After refrigeration, if my baby does not finish all the breastmilk, how long is it good for at room temp???
Avatar m tn re taking thyroxine and not desiccated procine hormone. The latter is the only one that needs refrigeration. I keep my thorixine at room temperature, and I sometimes have several months ahead. Yes, I think you're right. The baby gets his thyroid hormones from his mum until his thyroid develops and starts to produce his own.
219241 tn?1413537765 s FDA) say that it should be refrigerated too. Australia is the only country to decide that refrigeration is the best way to store under 25 C. (77 F) There are many arguments about whether this correct. It is a hormone, a very sensitive one so it makes sense to me. I know that we are about to get 'blister packs' which will be much better for dispersing and avoiding condensation problems from in and out of fridge, and contamination from handling.
Avatar m tn Most ammonia is produced in the intestine by colonic breakdown of nitrogenous compounds and enterocytic catabolism of amino acids. Other sources of ammonia are the kidneys and skeletal muscle. Normally, ammonia is metabolized in the liver and promptly excreted through the kidneys or colon. Formation of glutamine from glutamate, by glutamine synthetase, in the liver and brain is another means of detoxifying ammonia.
Avatar n tn There is a slight advantage to Pegasys (alfa-2a) The Pegasys needs refrigeration.
Avatar f tn I'm 6 weeks pregnant and I work in a paint department. I mix colors and clean up paint pretty much. Since I've worked there we have always used glass cleaner to clean the paint off the desk and our hands. I didnt know this until today but the cleaner we use has ammonia in it. I've been using it every day for a few months to get the paint off of my hands. Could it have hurt my baby?
Avatar n tn We discovered that my husband had an episode of Encephalopathy, which is high ammonia in the blood. But by the time we had his blood checked his levels were right smack in the middle of the range. Doctor said he was fine. So my question is can this ammonia gone untreated continue to rise and lower on its own. Because he has days that he seems fine and then days when he is not with me completely. He does not eat much as his taste buds are totally out of wack. Most foods taste very salty.
Avatar f tn I recently found out I had high ammonia, it was 66, I am taking lactalose and it is is now normal. All my blood work is within normal ranges on my liver function test and I also had a sonogram, have a mild fatty liver. Was wondering what could have caused this. I do drink a few beers a night.
Avatar f tn I went to the doctor this week.and he told me my ammonia level is very high as in thousands and there was some type of I can't remember now but a blood level that shows high as if to have cancer he did say my Ultra sound came back normal no signs of cancer that showed. But I have never heared a bout blood work that can come back and be a sign of cancer? Please help me understand some of this .
Avatar f tn He was admitted Monday night with severe confusion. His ammonia level was 152 and WBC/RBC and hemaglobin were extremely low. Treatment was started immediately to lower the ammonia level. Wednesday was 149, yesterday was 230 and today was 190. The doctor said it isn't responding to treatment, although the medicine definitely is keeping him cleaned out. They gave him platelets last night, but the level dropped even lower today.
Avatar n tn Patients with liver disease are unable to process or detoxify ammonia so that ammonia levels can reach dangerously high levels. This is coupled by increased ammonia production of colonic bacteria, especially if one is constipated or has an irregular bowel movement. High protein intake can also lead to an incresed ammonia production. I suggest you talk about these possibilities with your doctors.
Avatar m tn Ammonia odor can be associated with H. pylori. Ammonia can also be associated with urine and fecal material and not due to H. pylori.
190885 tn?1333025891 I am assuming you have cirrhosis? (I have a list of cirrhotics but I know it doesn't include everyone with cirrhosis here). Hepatic encephalopathy (HE) and brain fog are two different conditions. "Brain fog" has nothing to do with ammonia levels. Most ammonia in the body forms when protein is broken down by bacteria in the intestines. The liver normally converts ammonia into urea, which is then eliminated in urine.
Avatar n tn Yes it does. High levels of ammonia cause hepatic encephalopathy which in turn can cause confusion, sleepiness and forgetfulness. There are medications to help lower those levels. Speak to your hep doc.
