Ambien withdrawal medicine

Common Questions and Answers about Ambien withdrawal medicine

ambien

Avatar f tn htm#27 that there is no medicine that will help with the psychological aspect except for a medicine with benzo-like qualities, Ambien was one mentioned. I also have Trazadone. Just wondering if anyone knows about this, thanx.
Avatar n tn Ambien addiction is a serious problem requiring treatment. The signs of ambien withdrawal are insomnia, fatigue, sweating, stomach cramps, and panic attacks. You should consult your doctor to seek appropriate professional treatment if you want to discontinue Ambien. You should not attempt to stop taking them on your own.
Avatar n tn My poor husband took me to doctors, medical tests, etc....The neurologist thought it was ambien withdrawal but the others weren't so sure since people go on and off ambien all the time....It took about 6 months to return to normal. If you are one of those who has this reaction, hope you have a large support network, and a faith community which helps tremendously. Just remember, you aren't going crazy, and you will have ups and downs in your recovery.
10623623 tn?1414292089 I was reading another thread where you all were advising a person not to use suboxone as it will be worse to detox from, and I would like your opinions on my situation as well. I was using about 8 hydrocodone 10 mg each day for the past year. I was also abusing ambien because the hydro would cause me to not sleep, so I was taking about 6 Ambien a night, too. I was shaking and having terrible tremors from the Ambien detox, and I was beginning cold turkey from the hydro as well yesterday.
Avatar f tn How long does ambien withdrawal last? I have been off of it for 3 -1/2 months and struggle terribly w/ insomnia. I was on it for 4-1/2 months and it made me very sick with gastrointestinal problems, acid reflux, burning swellingin mouth, white tongue, etc. Doc did not diagnose, and said my symptoms were all caused by anxiety.
Avatar f tn Hey Shiann, I am not familiar with Ambien withdrawal. I was taking percocets but I am here if you need to talk.
18070169 tn?1463175914 re right, a ct off ambien cr is not recommended ... or ambien i think. i believe that ambien is not a true benzodiazepine but it acts like one / is similar. getting off both is very, very difficult, and you need a lot of patience. except the eye thing, most of your symptoms sound like things i went through as well, though i was ct'ing off benzos at the same time.
Avatar f tn Many people suggested me to taper it but I dont want to wait that long and take chances. I have an other question. Are my major withdrawal symptoms gone as I am not taking this medicine from a week? I dont want to use any extra medications as a substitution. Many people are suggesting me to go to a doctor for a normal sleep and I dont want to take any chances of other drug addictions by going to a doctor.
Avatar n tn How long and intense will withdrawal be if I stop 4-5 vicodin a day that I have taken regularly for months?
Avatar m tn Hi everybody - Day 21 for me no Hydro. Things are looking brighter. Still have bouts of anxiety and depression and wake up about every 2 hours during the night.... I had a little run-in with Ambien along the way. Took 10mg for 12 nights then realized it was really making me crazy, and probably hurting my Hydo my withdrawal progression. Stopping the Ambien had it's own set of unpleasant withdrawal symptoms.... My Doc says I should be back to normal in about 4 weeks.
Avatar f tn If you use it to help with withdrawals such as insomnia, that's what it sounds like you asking, you're only substituting another drug in place of the other(s) . Then again, it's probably worked as a 'bridge' for some people to make the withdrawal easier. But as mentioned above, it is addicting and often just prolongs the process more.
Avatar n tn I was on 1.5 mgs of lorazepam, went down to 1 mg a day and was sleeping fine at first, now I'm having more anxiety and having trouble sleeping. I'ts been about a month. I am tempted to go back up to 1.5 again but i'm trying to remain strong. I'm even having to use some ambien to sleep and i'ts starting not to help. How long will this go on? and will my sleep pattern come back? Is it possible the withdrawls are actually getting worse?
Avatar f tn If you are missing out on time awake to join in on life, then yes I would encourage you to withdraw. I took ambien for the first few nights of my first withdrawal from opiates but I have no idea what to expect with ambien.. Keep posting and someone may relate or we will all support you in your decision to get off ambien.
Avatar f tn m going to have to take ambien for at least 3 more days. I swear sometimes when one thing goes wrong everything goes to pot! And then I'm here whining like a wimp when there are so many more on here with so much on their plate. I know, I know, I need to suck it up. LOL I had hubby to get some sake flour so I could make a whipping cream pound cake. I still may do it. Thanks for listening to me whine.
1162610 tn?1262829016 I wish I could just take an Ambien and sleep through the entire withdrawal process. I feel so sluggish and tired tonight. I've cut down my doses to 7.5 ml and it seems like such a small amount.
Avatar m tn Hi and welcome, Ambien works the exact same way as benzos. If you looked up Ambien Withdrawal you'll find it's very rough to get off of. But I bet if you resumed your Ambien just as your doctor prescribed, it will eventually build back up in your system and let you sleep again. I have to admit, I'm like you and I second guess my doctor, but he always seems to know best. A couple of years ago I was on Ambien 10mg for just 9 months and it took me 4 months to taper off of it.
Avatar f tn ve taken ambient pregnant and not pregnant and I feel that way every time I took it! I swear! when I went into labor for some reason they gave me ambien, I asked them not too BC I remember how it made me feel and my midwife assured Me it would help me sleep and not make me feel loopy. but it did. I never got use to it.
Avatar n tn Talk to your doctor about how to avoid withdrawal symptoms when stopping the medication. Do not crush the tramadol tablet. This medicine is for oral (by mouth) use only. Powder from a crushed tablet should not be inhaled or diluted with liquid and injected into the body. Using this medicine by inhalation or injection can cause life-threatening side effects, overdose, or death. What is tramadol? Tramadol is a narcotic-like pain reliever. Tramadol is used to treat moderate to severe pain.
Avatar f tn I agree with the above. I've been through ambien withdrawal a couple of times. I couldn't sleep for 3 or 4 days no matter what I used. Which doctor do you get it from? A psych doctor or a primary doctor?
Avatar f tn I started taking Ambien & Prozac in Oct 2009. I started building a resistance so my doctor prescribed for me Restoril, that didn't work so she started me on Lunesta. After I started building a resistance to the Lunesta my doctor prescribed for me Ambien CR 12.5mg. It's now March 2010 and I need 4 or more Ambien CR to sleep. I can't sleep without it!!! I haven't taken the CR 12.5mg in 24hr and I have the common addiction symptoms.
Avatar f tn Duffo is right, you are suffering massive withdrawal problems. Did you slowly taper off your meds or quit quickly? The taper off should be one drug at a time, as slowly as you need to, not by some general schedule set by a doctor and used with all of her patients. We all react differently.
Avatar m tn It appears to be similar in efficacy and like Ambien is meant for short term use only. Unless you've tried it Rozerem is one alternative that unlike Ambien or the medication you mentioned or Lunesta does not have a potential for a person to build up a tolerance to it and is an FDA approved medication that works like melatonin to adjust the sleep cycle. You could ask your psychiatrist about that.
491910 tn?1209366193 then 30...and so on until its 5 then jump off. I have ambien, rozerem scripts myself but stopped the ambien and made it a once a week or less thing because it can be bad news. You might want to see if the Dr will switch you to say lunesta and see if you can use that while getting off ambien or when you tapered low enough to jump and switch. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Hello again everyone! Boy it has been a very long day for me. I woke up yesterday morning a little after seven a.m. and have been awake since...unable to sleep. I have been off the Oxy's for almost a full well but ran out of my Ambien on Saturday. I am thinking the new insomnia has more to do with the Ambien than the Oxy's. I was taking 1 sometimes 2 Ambien a night to fall asleep....
