After you detox and you no longer have insurance benefits for any rehab, what do you do? My grandson just checked into a detox facility but cannot return to his home. He is detoxing from oxy, valium, alcohol and was on a binge after 10 weeks clean. I dont know what to do to help him without enabling him..any suggestions? He is 18 last month so we dont get any info from detox facility.

Actually at this time, he's not spending that much on drugs since he hasn't been able to find them. Most money goes to alcohol, probably about $400/month at the very most. Doesn't sound like a lot, but it's a big chunk of our income right now. When I was in the hospital in a coma, he spend about $5000 in one month on pills and alcohol. That's when I had some savings.
Hi and welcome! First,does your daughter admit that she's addicted and does she want to get off the pills? If the answer is yes then go with her(if she lets you) to an appt. with her family doctor or the doctor who is prescribing the meds. He/she can offer support and assistance for a detox. Then it's aftercare as in counseling,AA/NA,Smart Recovery,etc...check in your area for out patient revovery programs.

I want to go to rehab but have no money or insurance. I detoxed off of methadone in April and wasn't able to afford rehab....... The 14 days in a Florida detox were the only two weeks of being "sober" I have experienced....... I am currently in full relapse mode, and desperately in need of rehab. How does one get into a good facility without any means of doing so? Are there any ways to get help?
I was in rehab for the first time in March. Was only there for 2 weeks because I found out I was pregnant about a week into treatment. They tested me when I got there but the results didn't come back until 7 days into treatment. I was already out of detox. So I chose to stay clean and not get back on anything. They wanted to put me back on methadone which is what they used to wean me off the oxy contin.

I would seriously SERIOUSLY consider having him detox in a hospital or rehab center. Not only will they treat his physical state so he can detox safely, they'll help treat his alcoholism.
If he's been this addicted to alcohol it's almost absolutely 100% that he'll continue drinking without going into rehab, inpatient detox, and a 12 step program.
I just arrived in Florida, my stepson, who has had anger issues as well as substance abuse since approximately 17. He has displayed violence towards others property. He was coddled all his life, now in 30s and has no clue how to be responsible. I have had heart to heart with his mother and stepfather, they see there is a prob now, but his Dad still has his head in the sand.
s now in rehab in FLA, and we are left trying to figure out what happens next and feeling so foolish for having never known this was going on. How do you ever believe them again?? He is going to come back to a bad situation, we think his girlfriend is also using, to the same friends, etc.? He called after a few days of being in rehab, said it was no big deal, he's watching movies and eating? so we are led to believe he's not taking this seriously at all.

he for 31 years, and made it to Lieutenant, me for 20 years, just a Patrol Officer.....we retired, built a dream house in South Florida....we should be enjoying our lives, but instead, have this cloud of doom over our heads......My husband is only 62, I'm 56.....I'm a coffee drinker and cigarette smoker, but am trying to quit both!!!! Tea has antioxidants......coffee, no value.
I just returned from a womans' detox and it was the best thing I ever did. I was able to withdraw from both alcohol and opiates in a safe place. I couldn't do it at home, not while I still had to go to work, and also worry my family. I was in a nice room with 5 others, then went to me own room, and I could stay as long as I wanted before I had an aftercare program set up. I arranged for all of that while in rehab, so I was prepared when I got out.

It really is too bad we didn't go to the same tx centers. i was at a hospital program in Florida (West Palm Beach) called Palms, after the one I thought would be great didn't end up be so (actually the first 2).
Now I am at a different 2 week program that is very intensive therapy, but we live in this amazing house in Florida. I didn't know I was going to do both place, but my hubby really wanted me to do both.
I was bitten by a tick nearly 6 years ago. I live in central Florida and was out with some friends adventuring in the forests that surround central Florida. The next morning I woke up and there was a small black tick attached to my upper leg right where the leg meets the groin. Knowing nothing about Ticks at the time I just removed it (probably incorrectly) and went on with my life. For the next few months to nearly a year after the tick bite would continue to itch.
I am off the Opana ER now, and off the Suboxone, (which I had to detox AGAIN FROM). I have been a week after the last detox in a therapy rehab program in Florida. I live with my daughter of 8-years-old and my husband in GA. Prior to being away for this last 11 day detox and week of rehab. concealing process, i was away in March for 10 days for the Opana detox and two weeks of this counseing rehab program. I have been away for most of March and April facing my issues.
