I have spent the last month trying to get into the medical detox program at the center for addiction and mental Heath in Toronto. I'm feeling so frustrated that they are not consistent in returning my phone calls or giving me an admission date. I so badly want to get in and get my life back on track! The waiting is killing me! The longer I wait, the more I use. I could really use some support around hanging on and not giving up on the prospect of going into treatment.
you could detox yourself but with these large doses it would be best to get your doctor involved and he/she can help you taper off
these pills come in smaller doses it would be good to have your doctor involved with a detox of this magnitude...that or a rehab... where all about doing it yourself but there are other issues that come into play here....med help also has a pain management forum google it

there is a med for crack addiction, but it does not work very well according to a friend of mine. he had terrible nightmares, and relapsed 2 weeks later , while taking the med.
if he really wants to stop, and i mean for real, he needs to check into rehabs. if he doesnt like the idea of an inpatient rehab, have him check into severe outpatient programs... if that doesnt appeal to him, he needs to go to an NA/AA meeting every day for 30 days strait!!
I was in rehab for the first time in March. Was only there for 2 weeks because I found out I was pregnant about a week into treatment. They tested me when I got there but the results didn't come back until 7 days into treatment. I was already out of detox. So I chose to stay clean and not get back on anything. They wanted to put me back on methadone which is what they used to wean me off the oxy contin.
i have no kids thank god,but im lost and feel real scared.i tried to go to rehab,but noone will exept me with no money.i have insurance but my deductable is 50%up front.and thats around 1000$im very sick and in alot of pain...how did this happen?im ready to give up,if it was not for my mom,i already would be up in heaven with my dad.is anyone out threre that can talk to me?

I'm not proud to say that I'm addicted to pain pills. And I want to quit. I can't afford rehab. I'm going to start today. I already know that the pain will start what I don't know is how long it will last. I'm taking 4 to 6 percocets a day. Can someone answer this question & help me to get through this?

Are you addicted or just dependent? It will work well for addiction, but the rehab would be a waste of money for a dependency. For instance, my Mom had a Klonopin dependency. She tried to go to the same rehab I went to, but was turned away and told to see an addictionologist. He weened her down and she's never had a problem. I however was an addict, and the detox/rehab worked well for me. The induction process at the rehab should tell you whether detox or detox/rehab is warranted.
you are in toronto, right? im not sure about the rehab centres around there, but as you know in canada, they are almost all free. i live 5 minutes from one of the largest rehabs in ontario and have lots of info about this place. i think inpatient treatment is the best for you as crack is a bugger to beat, but with this help i know you can do it. i can tell you want this now and im happy to hear that you know you will need help to do this. best of luck to you.
I would say that if you are SERIOUS about wanting to stop and financially IP rehab is an option for you, I would jump on that! Rehab will give you the support and aftercare you need to get through this.
Have you looked into a place you would go? Have you made any calls yet? I think youve made the biggest step and thats wanting to stop so congrats on that!

It sounds like your husband should be in rehab while getting used to his medication with no cheating. The harsh reality is that by you giving in to his begging, you are enabling him to continue acting out as he is. As it stands, i think you both need a break from each other, and from this problem. I think you should go to an Addictions Therapist so that you can talk about how to not enable your husband. It will help you to have a therapist while you're going through these growing pains.

I think you should speak with your doctor. As I stated before, rehab is not for physical problems or complications you may have and most do not deal with that except on a short-term basis.

Thank you He will be going to a Rehab Monday But they want him 72 hours clean. That first sentence was from my wife. i wake up everyday and take at least 6 hydro tens and thats just breakfast like today (my final day) i took 4 tens and 2 oxy 40s. i wanna get off this **** so bad. i've got some phenagrine, weed, and meds for the bubble guts.
He will take anything he can get his hands on. He has been in rehab three times in one year. He’s in rehab right now. Rewind to a few months ago... he got a script for gabapentin and abused it. He got high off of abusing it. And he flushed the rest. Last weekend he picked up another bottle of the gabapentin prescribed by his dr outside of his rehab.
I know ALOT of celebrities have struggled with addiction... Let's talk about them... Maybe you know of some that I don't and vice versa... My daughter is in rehab for pills addiction. I will be able to visit her in another month. She says she will be there for a total of 6 months. She has no money, no belongings, nothing. All was lost when she was forced to go to rehab. My question is: What can I expect when she is released? She says she will have to live on the streets if I don't help her. I tried to help her by paying her rent and giving her spending money but she spent it all on drugs was was evicted.
