Avatar m tn Where can I watch programs and testimonials of real people for drug addicts and alcoholics. I found a site: http://recoverynowtv.
Avatar n tn My wife has an addiction to IV Dilaudid and has been fighting the cravings for sometime now. She is at the point that she wants to go to ER's to try to get the IV, What recommendations are there on how to break the cycle. We are a one car, one income family (me) and don't have the funds or time to enter her into rehab. What other options are there? If any.
1113973 tn?1258663021 Quality rehab facilities that are completely free are few and far between. Many have payment plans or will work with you with payments. Your best bet is to flip through the yellow pages, find the first rehab, and call them. Tell them what you need and ask for help. If they can't help, ask for a referral. Rehab centers know about each others terms and programs for miles. They are your best source of info. Outpatient rehab isn't nearly as pricey as inpatient programs.
Avatar n tn Hi-- I just learned that my husband is addicted to vicodin. He is ready to get help. We live in California and don't have health insurance. We've called a few programs and are waiting to hear from them. I need advice please.
Avatar n tn I posted last night asking if anyone could share their good and bad rehab experiences...why was that deleted? I got an email that there were 3 respnses- If anyone responded please repost! Unless there is some reason we can't share rehab experiences??
Avatar f tn I'm so glad for you that you are feeling the empowerment that one does when they educate themselves about the disease of addiction. It might be very helpful for you to look into Alanon, online or in person in meetings near to you. You could instead go to NarAnon, the same family group for those living with an addict. It could really help you to talk about the daily events that occur when your boyfriend get's out of rehab.
Avatar f tn This is something I need to know too... I don't have insurance and need a detox/rehab that will work with me.
Avatar f tn This seems to be a delicate subject here. I've never disparaged AA/NA. Many people seemed to have been helped by them. I do not agree that I can't stay clean on my own. The responsibility for my actions rest squarely in my lap. I have no argument the concept of aftercare. I think it absolutely enhances a person's prospects for staying clean but AA/NA is not for everyone. There are other formal programs for aftercare and aftercare doesn't necessarily need to be formal.
Avatar f tn It is sometimes very difficult to get into in-patient rehab programs for the brain-injured. The problem is not only with your husband. In additon the criterion for admission are secrets, guarded like the permissive action codes on the nukes. Try not to limit your choices to a specific geographical area. Be persistant.
Avatar n tn Everyone keeps telling me you need rehab to get off ambien is this true?? I have been on it for 2 years on and off. I have trying to cut my dose. Can anyone give me the side effects of discontinuation ?
Avatar m tn m not certain where you live but in your situation I would recommend an inpatient detox and rehab program. The reason is you show high enthusiasm and readiness to address your addiction head on and because it is placing stress on your family, an inpatient program can provide you a safe environment in which to detox, learn new coping strategies and get established with aftercare. The inpatient programs are highly recommended for people with minimal suppot.
Avatar n tn We, my sister and I cannot go on any longer watching him kill himself, is there any type of lock down rehab that we can have him committed to? He claims that the withdrawals are far too unbearable to go on living. If there is any information that anyone can offer us about any state funded programs in or around new mexico we would greatly appreciate it.
Avatar m tn //www.bellwood.ca/drug-addiction/ ) but I don’t know how to convince my father for the recovery program. I really wanted my old father who used to had fun with us.
9663463 tn?1407525554 t control that, he does. I will say too that most rehab programs have family programs because it is essential that all learn to navigate the addiction issues. For example, if you are a trigger to him--- your style of reacting to his not doing X,Y and Z triggers him to want to use---- that is a point of communication for you. That you can tweak how you express yourself or what you want and how he can respond without continuing the old pattern.
Avatar f tn My mom has a serious pill addiction, for about 30 years now. We talked to her finally a little, and then she decided to stop cold turkey. We had to put her in a hospital for her safety to do safe detox. now she NEEDS to go to rehab, the doctors even think so. But we can't get ehr to budge. She says she will never take another pill again, that she's cured and all fine after a one week detox. How can we convince her she isn't better?
Avatar f tn I have no knowledge or experience with addiction but i would suggest making sure you seek medical help. Quiting cold turkey could do more harm than good. Secondly i wish you all the best in your journey. I expect it will be extremely hard but once you hold your little one you will find that your love for him/her will be worth way more than anything else in the world! Best of luck! You can do it!
Avatar f tn I have had an addiction to hydros for a little over a yr now. I went from taking 15-20 a day to 3-5 after finding out I was expecting. I was honest with my Dr. I told him I have a problem and I'm not confident I can kick it alone. Also how scared I am of my unborn sons safety during the withdraw procedure. He made me feel like crap, worse than I already did and do for putting my baby through this. Yesterday I only took 1 1/2 by 4:00pm I hadn't taken any more.
Avatar n tn t either before, but do now. Addiction *****, but we can break this cycle. There is help out there and rehab is not the only option. Have you ever thought about trying N/A or any other aftercare to stay clean. I think the fact you have told people and admitted your problem is a HUGE step and should be very proud of yourself for that. Keeping it a secret keeps us sick. Stick around this is a great support group. Look in the top right of this page.
Avatar m tn So, you’re right to look for cheap rehab centers. You don’t have to break into a bank or go broke in the name of getting off drug and alcohol addiction.
Avatar f tn My father is 46 years old and has struggled with alcoholism and addiction for more than half of his life. He has been in several different rehab programs and none of them have worked for him. He is stuck on the fact that he "can not" quit drinking. I've known for a long time that this would one day cause physical problems, but I've tried not to entertain that fact. However, just today, he informed me that he has been expierencing blood in his stool for about 3 months.
Avatar f tn There are family programs that are offered by most outpatient rehab programs or 12 step programs like Al-anon or Nar-anon. You can find them in your area just by Googleing the name. They will help you deal with your feelings about you husband's addiction and connect with other loved ones that have experience with your exact situation. I hope this helps!
594255 tn?1219163564 Hi, Was sober almost three years until last Feb. 3, 2008. All kinds of bad things went wrong on Feb. 2, 2008. I bought a half-gallon of rum, and started again. I did stop drinking again after a few weeks for about a month. I went back to meetings. Been unemployed three and a half years, and was turned down for a very good job. Guess what? I've been drinking since! I have no way to pay for rehab, so I have to go it alone.
Avatar f tn I had an addiction to Lortab (after several surgeries very close together) for over a year. I went to a medical detox facility because I was advised to stay away from the subutext/suboxin facilities (which when I got in there seemed to be good advice from so many relapsed from those programs).
464054 tn?1223823033 One of the hardest questions to do with addiction. Worried is right,,,but you cant enable either and theres a very fine line. He needs to know that you"ll be there only for help with his problem. Nar anon and al anon are programs for familys of addicts,,people who have gone thru what your experiancing now.
317822 tn?1223241475 Detox gets you off the drugs safely, and a little of what rehab does. Rehab deals with learning about your addiction and how to live life without drugs. Once you are done with detox, they will help set you up on some continuing aftercare activities. Like an inpatient rehab, or outpatient rehab, a psychiatrist to follow your meds etc. that kind stuff. Hope this helps?
Avatar f tn your local rescue groups sometimes also have programs. there ARE private rehab centers that offer scholarships too. it takes a little work to make it happen. if there is a will..there is a way. "mr. clean and sober" isnt going to just knock on your door one morning...you have to want it and make it happen.
Avatar n tn there are other ways to come off opiates, how many is she taking a day, and what mg, is she healthy apart from the addiction? if we know these answers we can help you more, there are lots of good experienced folks on here, god bless.
