abilify

Avatar n tn Usually initial side effects wear off after two weeks.
1696867 tn?1312609591 They put her on Lithium and then added abilify a week later. The abilify gave her horrible side effects and I never want to see my daughter in that condition again! I detest the drug Abilify. It is a reckless drug in my opinion. I have been prescribed Lamictal now for 3 years. It is the right med for me. I am not on the floor with depression and do not gain weight. I wish some could challenge their docs.
2010625 tn?1329372056 Now it is so bad I can barely type because my hands are so fidgety. My tongue is twitching and my lips too now. Can this be a permanent side effect or does it go away?
Avatar f tn Also, I should add that I put him back on the Abilify same dose amount to see if the twitching would go away since it only started when I started to withdraw him slowly off it. So now we are back on the old dosage amount to see if the twitching will stop.
Avatar n tn That may be the reason why you are experiencing the side effects. If you just started on Abilify then you should go talk to your doctor and let him know that you cannot tolerate the side effects and be put on something else.
1255530 tn?1269867619 rapid heart rate, hard to breath, stiffness is neck and back, respiratory infection it feels like coming on. As far as I read these can be serious side effects. I talked to two people at pdoc's office and they said I specifically need to talk to my pdoc. well she was sapozed to call today and didn't. I go back Thursday anyway but are these not serious side effects. p.s. anxiety is worse now also.
1565420 tn?1304572548 Hair loss is not listed as a side effect of Abilify. I would address this right away with an Endocrinologist, as it may be related to your thyroid which can also cause anxiety and depression. Hair coming out in small clumps is a symptom of an underlying condition and blood work can determine what this is. Don't stop the Abilify, but make the prescribing doctor aware of what you're experiencing........
Avatar f tn I've been taking abilify for about 6 months now and I'm up to 20mg a day. It seems to be working but I'm not having the drowsy side effects that you speak of, but then I do take my bipolar meds at night, which seems to decrease any sleepiness I might have. Also my doctor prescribed a medication called Provigil to help counteract the drowsiness caused by my medications because I do take several and all of them may cause drowsiness.
3248163 tn?1354847640 You can also try calling the the makers of Abilify. Many drug companies will help you if you call them. Also everyone's body reacts to drugs differently and I have tried many. I take Lithium and I don't have any side effects. Have been on it 4 yrs. I did have side effects at the beginning that took 2-3 weeks to go away but they did and it has been fine for me ever since. Try the websites above too. Also some Mental Health Clinics will dispense certain meds, they may have Abilify.
Avatar n tn However the tremors are still there as well as extreme sweating, and muscle tightness. (I have been on this dose for approximately 2 weeks.
Avatar n tn My daughter is currently taking a combination of depakote, lamictal, and abilify for a mood disorder. However, her doctor feels the overwhelming problem with her is an anxiety disorder that is not being addressed by the current meds. The doctor wants to ween her off the lamictal completely and start her on klonopin wafers. I am concerned about the "drowsiness" side effects. Do these eventually go away?
Avatar f tn My doctor wants me to start on Abilify but I declined after I read the side effects. Has anyone had any uncontrolled movements, weight gain, tardive dyskinesia, etc. with this medication. If so, please let me know. I really need a medication to replace the ones I went off of but my doctor is giving me no other choices. I'm absolutely scared to death about the side effects of this medication. Any and all responses will be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn s their decision as regards side effects. One week is not enough time to see if it worked though and some side effects get better after time. You'd have to discuss that with your psychiatrist though. As regards Abilify if it worked for you then that's fine. Antipsychotics can cause prolactin elevation which drops sex drive but Abilify is the least likely to cause this. Its generally more of a nuisance than anything but each person is different in their reactions.
Avatar n tn t cause these side effects but in the meantime its a matter of keeping things adjusted so that you can tolerate temporary side effects, avoid long term side effects and remain stable in the meantime.
Avatar m tn Many doctors are now using Abilify as an adjucnt with other ADs when the original medication just doesn't seem to be working. I can't say I've known of anyone being prescribed just Abilify, which does NOT make your doctor wrong. There are many people for whom the SSRI's simply don't work. Have you tried any of the other classes of ADs? If you are hesitant to take the Abilify, you should discuss your options with your doctor.
4762310 tn?1362165935 Most meds side effects go away with use but continue to be cognizant of the effects. You can call your pharmacist for advice too, especially if you filled at a 24 hour one. I yawned every minute with Celexa for a month, but suddenly it was gone.
Avatar f tn t shake the lethargy either. I am just concerned with the quality of my life because the side effects of my medication are really affecting me. The reason i have continued on this medication is becuase it is one of the only antipsych medications approved for adolescents according to my psych doc. I am 17 by the way. Does anyone else, or has anyone else had the same issues with Abilify, and any other advice to a newly diagnosed is appreciated. thanks!
1499921 tn?1308446605 other bipolar type problems and what people personally experienced as side-effects.. expecially weight side effects.. I really don't need to gain anymore weight. Any advice, personal experience and knowledge is welcome.
