I am currently taking Wellbutrin for my depression. My question is can I take Abilify with Wellbutrin?

my 10yr old son has been on a regimen of 1300mg lithium and 5mg abilify since age 7 due to aggresive behavior towards family and self mutalation.Was hospitalized at Walker Art,Needham Mass to get satabilized..meds worked for the better part.He was recently taken off abilify 5 wks ago-the past 3plus wks he has returned to his behavior not seen since age of 7.Drs wanted to try him on triliptal which been on over wk now,nothing has improved more so worsened.

You could go to the medication website but from my experience and general knowledge its activating rather than sedation so if it keeps you up at night you could ask your psychiatrist if you could take it in the morning. Otherwise it has the same side effect profile as the other atypical antipsychotics though its the least likely to cause weight gain.

Hi I was wondering if anyone knew if the medication abilify could cause anxiety. My anxiety is so bad I don't know what to do. I am also on a low dose of prozac for depression. Abilify was added because the dr. thought i might be bi-polar. I dont think i am nor do my friends and family?? But recently the anxiety is unbearable i take xanax when it's really bad but it's has been so bad that i would have to take it once or twice a day and i really don't want to??? any suggestions??

An SSRI generally is of concern for someone with bipolar and can easily worsen mania. Abilify like all antipsychotics can treat it. Abilify and Geodon are activating, that is they will make a person more likely to be awake instead of being sedating. I know when I was on Geodon and Abilify they kept me up practically the whole night but they didn't make me manic. Some people find it better to take it in the morning for that reason.

My son takes 7.5 mg abilify in morning since Jan.'13 . Some days, he will feel so sleepy whatever he does, other days he will be fine. Can this random sleepiness be attributed to abilify? Thanks.

Abilify can seriously effect your blood sugar even make you diabetic.

is anyone on saphris? my pdoc changed me from seroquel and abilify to this new med, which i start tonight. the other 2 was causing my blood sugar and pressure to start going up. i felt fine taking this combo but don't want to take 2 more meds for blood sugar and blood pressure.

i do better on medication but still struggle with focus, completeing tasks, starting new projects, anxiousness, worry. the doc and i are considering adding Abilify to the Depakote. anyone out there tried it. my understanding: it works best added to an antidepressant which Depakote isn't. Side effects?? thanks. keep takkin' your meds, don't miss your appts. and keep building your support group. Be careful who you share your mental health with, people love to pigeon-hole you.

I am wondering about Abilify instead of Geodone. What is your experience with this drug? Does it work as well as the atypicals? It should for how much it costs. I also take lamotrigine 200mg/day and trazodone 50mg for sleep.

I've been out of work and am no longer able to afford my abilify and effexor. I've slowly stopped taking both to the point that I am no longer taking them. However yesturday I got a low grade headache and started vomitting. At first I thought it was a flu but now feel it's withdrawal from effexor. T oday I was sick to my stomach and had a headache,but I also had my tongue in such pain I could barely eat. Is this symptoms of withdrawal from effexor?

Hi everyone Chris here, new to group. I'm Bipolar II rapid cycling mixed episodes. I'm looking for some feedback on Abilify from some of you that have tried it. I hate messing around with my meds as it seem like forever trying this that and the other. Currently on Effexor XR, Depakote, and Seroquel. Still seems like not enough relief. So to add Abilify and discontinue one or leave it alone? My Phd. is not much help on this one, I think I've burned him out.

Went to docs with unrelated problems but in talking my anxiety was evident and she asked about depression and I told her I wasn't suicidal and no desire to hurt myself or anyone else just was having a difficult time seeing the good in anything. Everyday tasks seemed very hard to do. Zero motivation although i do function well enough to get thru my days. i have never taken antidepressants before I am 33 yo male. She recommended I try meds.

my grandson is 14 yrs old. He is on Lamictil 50 mg and abilify ? mg. he has been on abilify for 1 1/2 yrs and lamictil about 2 months. He is still extremely depressed. We are worried . Should we go to another child psychiatrist. They are really not sure of dx. He did extremely well on abilify for about a yr.

When I looked up weight gain and bipolar medications, Abilify was at the bottom of the list for weight gain, Geodon people gained the least then Abilify. I'm on 2mg. of Abilify and in the begining you tend to feel sleepy, that's why they start you on it at bedtime. I would be surprised if Abilify caused a racing heart but you definately have to tell your doc about that. I was also on Wellbutrin and had to come off because it caused to much anxiety.

Many doctors are now using Abilify as an adjucnt with other ADs when the original medication just doesn't seem to be working. I can't say I've known of anyone being prescribed just Abilify, which does NOT make your doctor wrong. There are many people for whom the SSRI's simply don't work. Have you tried any of the other classes of ADs? If you are hesitant to take the Abilify, you should discuss your options with your doctor.

I've just had Abilify added to my cocktail of Lamictal and Clonazepam, hoping that it is going to lift me out of the current depression. Basic not wanting to get off the couch, go out, brush my teeth, talk on the phone, get out of my nightgown, and feelings of hopelessness. ( standard depression stuff ) Just, this has gone on a long, long time. I only get up, bathed and dressed if I have an appointment out of the house. Otherwise, it's me and the dog. That's it.

I just found out a friend has been on the medicine venlafaxine for the highest dosage and his psychiatrist put him on abilify too recently. What does this imply? He has schizophrenia? He's a psycho? Any thought would be appreciated!

All because of Lamictal and Abilify. Recommend that you do a search for Abilify side affects. She should be weaned off that dangerous drug.

When I do they are usually stress induced. My psychiatrist gave me Abilify. Does anyone have insight on this drug? My psychiatrist said the most common side effects are muscle twitching and muscle stiffness. I have been on the same meds for years and I am really scared to take a new one.
