Linezolid is a weak monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI), and should not be used concomitantly with other MAOIs, large amounts of tyramine-rich foods (such as pork, aged cheeses, alcoholic beverages, or smoked and pickled foods), or serotonergic drugs.
also it is highly contagious. so avoid open physical contact with others unless u get treated .
Doctor has suggested me Linezolid antibiotic for 7 days since Enterococcus Faecilis was found in semen culture and sensitivity test. My question is - Is this infection very dangerous and does it affects fertility?
his symptoms returned immediately when the antibiotics were finished. This resulted in 2 debridement surgeries where all the hardware was removed. He was on 6 weeks of IV Vanco and Rifampin which seem to end the infection. 6 weeks ago the went back in to redo the spinal fusion as his scoliosis was still severe and he had become very kyphotic well into his lumbar spine.

As luck and God would have it, I had been taking amoxicillian before all this happened so I thought "why not finish it, nothing else has worked". I knew when I took the amox, I had started to feel better. I talked my local PA into putting me on 8 weeks of it and low and behold, I have tested negative 2x.
I also had MRSA and have just found out that I am a MRSA carrier although, I am not infected at the moment.I also have RA and take 7.5 mg of Mexotraxate one time per week. My new orthopedic surgeon called my RA doctor and said hey, need to back off the Mexotraxaate and ALL steriod shots until the foot has healed. My RA doctor concurred. Now, the Orthopedic surgeon was okay with me taking the Medrol which is "Tablets contain methylprednisolone which is a glucocorticoid.
I picked up VRE while in the hospital which was treated with 14 days of IV Zyvox. The VRE came back, in my urine, and I was hospitalized again last week and put back on Zyvox (oral this time). I am also on IV clindamycin and azithromycin, and a long list of other medications. While in the hospital they did daily blood work, of course, and my results have gotten progressively worse. They told me to follow up with my pcp, but my pcp is pretty much useless.
and for MRSA ( methyl in resistant staph aureus) there are other drugs. I was given linezolid which had reduced my Haemoglobin to 8 and increased my liver enzymes sky high. They need to monitor your blood regularly with the latter. At the end of the day usually GM is an inflammatory condition and pus usually is sterile. GM may be triggered by bacteria but bacteria die usually with first antibiotics course...good luck.
the cultures and urine showed Staphylococcus epidermidis which was treated with success with vanc and zyvox. i know S. epi. is a common skin flora but i am confused as to how i was infected. Any insight?
I think it is folliculitis. I was prescribed by physician Amoxicillin Clavulanate 625 mg 1 tab thrice daily + Linezolid 600 mg 1 tab twice daily along with B-complex cap for 7-10 days.
I took the medication for 7 days and all the infection seemed to disappear. But after 2 weeks of finishing my medication, the infection seems to re-occur.
Please advise.
The swellings continued and my eyes were also swollen. He told me that i was allergic to the Bactrim and prescibed some Zyvox. Im currently taking it and maintaining a tyramine free diet and see the results.
For a very long time, a medicine called vancomycin has been the treatment of choice for infection with Methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Now, other medicines seem to be more effective, including teicoplanin and linezolid. You might want to discuss this with her doctors and ask if consultation with an infectious disease specialist might be appropriate, given that this may be a recurrent Staph infection.
she was treated with ceftraixone n Linezolid both iv. also was given antacids and meftal for d pain..n was discharged. now again aftr a week, the abdominal pain episodes with fever have started. shes very week too now. the docs now look clueless...thus i request ur opinoin and sme differential diagnosis. really lookin forward. thanking you.
My husband and son have not exhibited any skin conditions-just me. I have taken your advice and went to an infectious disease specialist. He has taken some cultures and has already put me on a new antibiotic called Zyvox. If the antibiotics doesn't clear the condition-I have considered looking for a new home for the dog. A patient 90 years old, suffering congestion, dry cough, urinary infection, under dosage of cough syrup was sleepy. Then was given Cefuroxime, Linezolid antibiotic, corex syp and metolazone diuretics when partially conscious. He didnt eat much drank 50 ml water in last 14 hours and nothing after that. Later in the evening his oxygen was down to 70 SpO2. In 1.5 hours he was given oxygen with oxygen machine and the oxygen started to increase in a bit.

Hi all I'm 6 weeks pregnant. Is anybody taking iron tablets. Is it a must. I am not enjoying taking these tablets at all.
I'm on exactly the same as you 3 times a day. Before taking them I felt so faint every time I stood up it was horrible :/ must of been due to low iron and low blood pressure.
Not a nice time when you go to the toilet though!!!
