zonegran

Avatar f tn Since October I have tried Lortab (3 strengths), gabapentin, Lyrica, Ultram, Relafen, Zonegran, and Trileptal. I am also on Cymbalta and Ambien. Any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn I am really allergic to all sulfa, sulfate, sulfites. I need to get off of these as much as possible and it is in everything! Food, meds, and other various things. Anyone have a website that could help me with this or other that resources?
Avatar n tn Hello, I very much need an answer because my doctor will not give me a straight answer. I'm currently on Lamictal (800mg a day) and Zonegran (200mg a day) and I'm a college student so I tend to drink. I've never had a seizure while consuming alcohol but I'm terrified when doing so. So heres my question... When I drink (beer) with my meds, will it bring on a seizure? or just enhance the side effects? Please I very much need to know asap! Maybe even stories would helpl too.
Avatar f tn t think of them at this time) I am now being treated with Zonegran, Depakote. The Zonegran was working for a little while but I have seemed to reach a plateau. I have not been migraine free at all since November, but there have been times where my migraines have been less painful. I work for a health insurance company and I am on the computer for 8 hours a day. I have been unalbe to work a full time scheule for the past 3 months due to my migraines.
1303966 tn?1296740010 Has anyone with Chiari had success with Diamox? I'm currently on Zonegran for L-temperal lobe seizures, but the constant pressure and full feeling in my ears and mouth is driving me crazy. Told possible Meniers by ENT, but my Neuro thinks it's the Chiari. She wants to try Diamox, but wants to clear it with my Chiari specialist because of the Zonegran and risk of kidney problems (dehydration).
Avatar n tn If I am allergic to tetracycline, a sulfa drug, would I be allergic to diamox, another sulfa drug? This discussion is related to pseudo papilledema.
Avatar f tn I would say that it potentially could be caused by the sulfa medication. Sulfa drugs have an effect on every body system. If it continues, call the doctor that prescribed to make sure he/she doesn't want to see you.
Avatar f tn My big concern is that I was diagnosed with a Sulfa allergy as a child when a Sulfa Based Opthalmic Ointment was used to treat an eye infection and I broke out in hives after using the drug. My daughter used Sulfa Antibiotics to treat a UTI and over the course of a week her face swelled up. The pharmacist had mentioned taking the medication and trying benadryl and if I have a reaction to seek medical treatment immediately.
Avatar m tn Yesterday I received a Lipo-Plex injection (B12 with Lipotropics) that contains Methionine a sulfur containing amino acid. I have a Sulfa allergy (normally get an extremely high fever). Should I be worried? I haven't had any side effects. Feeling a little flushed (hot) but that is about it. Otherwise I feel great. Can I continue with these shots? Thanks!
Avatar f tn I asked my doctor to add HCT, however, because I developed a rash from taking a sulfa antiobiotic 10 years ago, he doesn't want to take the chance. So he put me back on Lotrel along with the Valturna. He said as my BP comes down, he'll adjust the meds. My questions are: (1) I've read that having a rash deveop from a sulfa antiobiotic doesn't necessary mean I'll have an allergic reaction to HCT. Is it safe to try the diuretic to see what happens?

Avatar f tn My sister has an Allergic reaction to anything that contains Sulfa. My question is can she use product that contains Sulfur, or will she break out from using it..
1303966 tn?1296740010 Does anyone know of any medication for complex seizures (L-temporal lobe) that won't make you feel like a zombie? I take Zonegran 200mg and I have absolutely no energy. I'm typically very active and moving all the time. I don't even have the energy to grocery shop or cook anymore. This is ridiculous! I also take Diamox, not sure if this has any affect on my energy level. Recently had a CBC done, and it came back normal. I just started these meds 4 months ago.
Avatar f tn My 24 year old daughter was just diagnosed with Grave's Disease. The doctor was going to give her Tapazole until he found out she was allergic to sulpha. But I looked it up and it says people who are allergic to sulpha can safely take Tapazole. It's all in the way the chain of chemicals are structured. It says the chain contains sulfur dioxide and nitrogen attached to a benzene ring.
Avatar f tn Are you, by any chance, allergic to sulfa drugs? My sister had a similar reaction to hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ), and the doctor said it was because she was allergic to sulfa. My sister had not put her sulfa allergy on her medical history form at the cardiologist's office, because the sulfa reaction had been so long ago. When the doctor prescribed HCTZ, which evidently has sulfa in it, my sister reacted to that.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with a sulfa allergy as a child and haven't had any problems since as my doctors know of this allergy when prescribing medication. However, due to the geothermal activity and potential exposure to sulphur related gases/water, I wanted to know if travelling to Iceland would pose any health risks. I know that sulfa and sulphur are related but not the same but I am still concerned that I might be exposed to problems when inhaling gases or drinking water.
Avatar f tn During this time I have also developed Psoriatic Arthritis and have been put on a Sulfa Drug. They have been monitoring my blood work up close for the past 3 months and have noted that my white cell count is low most of the time. The highest it has been in these past months is the bottom end of normal, but lingering around 3.0. Also, my red cell count is down a bit too around 3.8.
1303966 tn?1296740010 I went off the Zonegran because my hair was falling out and my tachycardia spells stopped. At least I hope so. I also think my meds were causing a lot of my anxiety. I don't have this anxiety attacks since stopping seizure medication. I take butterbur for my headaches and this is suppose to increase the oxygenated blood to the brain. I feel so much better these days.
Avatar n tn Sulfa drugs were commonly used against Gonorrhea and Chlamydia in the 30's and 40's and still remain effective against Chlamydia....not so much against Gonorrhea. However, resistance to sulfa drugs has steadily increased and typically treatment for one includes treatment for the other.. and today Chlamydia is usually treated with doxycycline.
Avatar f tn I believe that primary care manager thinks I am hyper now because of side effects from hydrochlorothiazide (am deathly allergic to sulfa drugs and this is a sulfa drug - unbeknownst to me until today).
Avatar m tn Now its inflamed went to a clinic they said to just heat compress it then wet to my PCP who game me SULFA and some pain killers told me also to heat compress it...now it is no longer HOT it was a HOT spot but now it looks PURPLE. Still hurts looks scabbie but have not noticed any drainage any advice?
Avatar n tn I'm allergic to penicillin and sulfa. Dentist prescribed Clindamycin 150 mg for 10 days for infection in my tooth. Got hives, rash, swollen lips and extreme itching and blotches from head to toe. Was on vacation so stopped medication after 3 days of taking it. It is now 5 days taking benadryl and the hives and itching have not stopped. What is in the clindamycin that I may be allergic to?
Avatar n tn Your pressure should not stay above 30 for more than a day or two at most. If it is still above thirty tomorrow, they may need to consider intervening. Do you already have damage to your optic nerves from your glaucoma?
Avatar n tn I will probably go to the doctor tomorrow for an official dipstick test, but I am worried that they will error on the side of caution and prescribe Septra or Bactrim. I am terrified, literally terrified, of trying a sulfa drug because of some of the horror stories on the net. Perhaps I shouldn't be looking at those accounts. Nonetheless, is there any reason to think that my problems with some antibiotics will be universal? I have successfully taken erythromycin, zithromax and biaxin.
