Zonegran side effects in children

Common Questions and Answers about Zonegran side effects in children

zonegran

Avatar f tn Zonegran is awesome! It really has worked great for my daugther with little to no side effects. Initially, there was some problems with being a little sleepy during the morning, but that wore off. It also did cause some appetite suppression in the morning, but that wore off too. I hope you find the right dosage and it works well for you too. Were you able to lose the weight you gained off of the Trileptal?
Avatar f tn Hi, How was your MRI and tilt table study? Topamax may cause side effects such as muscle spasm or shaking while Zonegran may also cause chills, tiredness or body aches. If these persist, it is best that you inform your attending physician for proper management. Increase in blood pressure may be caused by a variety of issues as well such as underlying condition and from physiologic causes like sickness or from physical exertion. Regular Blood pressure monitoring and low salt diet may also help.
1303966 tn?1296740010 Sorry to hear about everything! I know how you feel...have been on a number of different anti-seizure meds for 14 years now, and totally understand how you feel. If it helps, things usually improve somewhat after you've been on the meds for 5 or 6 months....kind of get used to the dosage, although it isn't easy to deal with all the side effects.
Avatar f tn I have also lost 15 pounds in the past 4 weeks I believe it is from the Zonegran causing me to lose my appetite. My neurologist just prescribed my Oxycontin 10mg which make me incredibly sick. He told me that they will only be masking the symptoms but this way I can get some type of relief so I can function. I am in agony and I am tired of suffering. I have been told that I should go to a Migraine Pain Clinic in the Boston area as well.
Avatar f tn Dilantin was toxic to me in even small doses...it made me so sick. That was the first medication I ever tried and it didn't really help so my nuerologist kept increasing my dose despite what I was telling him. Then he put me on Tegretol which caused me to have major balance issues and night paralysis, every night, several times a night...very disturbing.
959034 tn?1253671476 Is it working? Does it make you sleepy? Side effects? How much do you take? Do you like it? Was it the first one you tried? Did you have to try many to find one that you liked?
Avatar n tn re with a doctor you trust and be careful with the meds, the side effects can be devastating. Infantile spasms can cause severe developmental delays and doctors work hard at trying to stop them because of it. Seizures are very complex and what works for one may not for another. What I have found is that all of the cases are so different, each child may have the same "type" of seizure but won't respond to the same med. They have never found a cause for his seizures.
Avatar n tn Celexa is a more preferred drug for OCD at a low dose for children. This drug seems to work the best with the fewest side effects. If you don't mind what type of OCD subject is it?
Avatar f tn Since October I have tried Lortab (3 strengths), gabapentin, Lyrica, Ultram, Relafen, Zonegran, and Trileptal. I am also on Cymbalta and Ambien. Any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn Well, not long after this I started having some neck pain. I also notice that if I lay on my left side the left side of my face, neck, left arm and hand all go numb. I have had CT scan of head and MRI of brain (all normal) as well as thyroid checked, sugar, hormones etc. Tried Chiropractic, accupuncture and physical therapy. My neurologist says NDPH but I feel like we are missing something. Mainly because I have not had a MRI of neck as of yet.

Avatar m tn m not sure if Zofran is used in children but you could ask. Tetrabenzene is used but that has some serious side effects so that might not be for children either. But there are other medications as well. Clonidine in patch form (Catapres) is especially helpful for tic like motions (tardive tourreticism which is a variant of tardive dyskinesia I have as well). I am on Tenex which is helpful as well. I believe both of those are used in children.
454366 tn?1211245301 Litium did give me a hyperactive thyroid condition. The med I was given for that has a side effect of osteoporosis in the lumbar in long term use (Synthroid). I ended up with litium toxicity a few years back because diuretics will cause that. As you know caffine is a diuretic (soft drinks) - which most kiddo's I know tend to drink. I would not allow litium to be given to my child; not going through what I have with it. I have a son who is ADHD.
Avatar n tn My son just called and asked if I could drive him and some friends to the ice skating rink and I sadly had to tell him to ask dad. I heard a bit of sadness in his voice (he is 11) since he and my other children know that mom is always the one to go to for things.Thankfully my husband agreed to drive them but I feel guilty because I know hubby is not going to pick up the slack when it comes to the kids and I am sure that they know this too.
1367899 tn?1278121440 My sister and I started a blog on Adderall to learn more about the medication along with alternative and complementary ADHD treatment options. Any feedback from users of Adderall or Adderall XR would be greatly appreciated. Topics to be added this week on http://Adderall.org How is Adderall XR different from Adderall? [Adderall vs. Adderall XR] What is Adderall? How to Make Adderall: [Adderall Background Information] What are the best Adderall and ADHD books?
Avatar n tn are their any adults who took it as a child and had long-term negative or positive effects? Does it slow growth in children? Are their negative effects on school performance? I would really appreciate a doctor's opinion, or any other person who has had a child who has taken Prozac. Thanks so much.
Avatar f tn I'm more worried about the hair thinning right now. I've seen posts about people thinking their hair thinning is a result of the medication. The side effects I've found is a long list and hair thinning has been mentioned. I'm scared to death and beginning to panic about it.
Avatar m tn Please go through the below head CT scan results of a 6 year old boy and kindly confirm if a repeated head scan exposes the boy to too of radiation. Will there be any long term side effects? Thanks in advance and would appreciate a quick response. Total mAs 17389, Total DLP 4450 mGy*cm Topogram --> kV = 130, CTDIvol mGy = 0.10(L), DLP mGy*cm = 2.54, TI s = 3.1, cSL mm = 0.6 BRAIN SPIRAL --> kV = 130, mAs/ref = 260, CTDIvol mGy = 69.75(S), DLP mGy*cm = 1484.93, TI s = 1.5, cSL mm = 0.
281209 tn?1209385426 I had a TT for papillary carcinoma in 7/07. I had a 30% uptake in my thyroid scan and they gave me 21mCi I-131 to bring down the dose. I just received my second dose (220mCi) last week, and expected nominal side effects. I've felt terrible since then. Loss of taste, overall nausea, etc. Anyone else go through this? My docs didn't mention anything about side effects (besides the normal salivary glands swelling). How long should I expect to feel this way?
Avatar f tn s so hard to predict how different people are going to respond to treatment in terms of side effects. Some people seem to go through with few problems, and others have varying degrees of side effects. There are also times during tx when you feel better and times you feel worse. I have seen many people with jobs make it through, and many folks with children also. You have to do what's best for you sometimes in order to be there for everyone else.
Avatar n tn http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/guanfacine_ad.htm http://www.depression-guide.com/tenex.htm http://www.drugs.com/mtm/tenex.html I don't see much that would describe your son's behavior here, but if he's taking other meds on top of this one, there could be a reaction.
