Avatar f tn A friend said she took Zonegran for nerve pain and it helped her tremendously. My c ondition now is post herpetic neuraglia left over from shingles in the top of my head, forehead, eyebrow and left eye. have anyone tried Zonegran for post herpetic nueraglia (PHN) and did it help. The Lyrica is now affecting my eyes so I am desperate to get off it. Any answers/experiences are much appreciated. Thanks much.
Avatar f tn Zonegran is awesome! It really has worked great for my daugther with little to no side effects. Initially, there was some problems with being a little sleepy during the morning, but that wore off. It also did cause some appetite suppression in the morning, but that wore off too. I hope you find the right dosage and it works well for you too. Were you able to lose the weight you gained off of the Trileptal?
Avatar f tn t think of them at this time) I am now being treated with Zonegran, Depakote. The Zonegran was working for a little while but I have seemed to reach a plateau. I have not been migraine free at all since November, but there have been times where my migraines have been less painful. I work for a health insurance company and I am on the computer for 8 hours a day. I have been unalbe to work a full time scheule for the past 3 months due to my migraines.
Avatar n tn As you can see alcohol use is not recommended for use with Zonegran in particular. but is usually not recommended for use with most medications. That is because it can increase or decrease the effectiveness of the medication or cause unwanted side effects. Personally, although I haven't found any literature that indicates that seizures will occur if you use it with Zonegran and Lamictal, I would avoid it completely or minimize its' usage.
1303966 tn?1296740010 Has anyone with Chiari had success with Diamox? I'm currently on Zonegran for L-temperal lobe seizures, but the constant pressure and full feeling in my ears and mouth is driving me crazy. Told possible Meniers by ENT, but my Neuro thinks it's the Chiari. She wants to try Diamox, but wants to clear it with my Chiari specialist because of the Zonegran and risk of kidney problems (dehydration).
1303966 tn?1296740010 Sorry to hear about everything! I know how you feel...have been on a number of different anti-seizure meds for 14 years now, and totally understand how you feel. If it helps, things usually improve somewhat after you've been on the meds for 5 or 6 months....kind of get used to the dosage, although it isn't easy to deal with all the side effects.
1303966 tn?1296740010 Hi, yes..this is not uncommon for those with chiari...it can be just the chiari...or u may have related issues..such as a thyroid condition, or a condition called POTS...... Do talk to ur Chiari Dr about this.
Avatar f tn It is often accompanies with migraines, although mine is not. I think mine comes with my fibromyalgia. For me both are made worse when eat sugar or simple carbs. I just started Topamax which is often used for migraines to see if it will releive this skin pain, 2 days on it, and it seems to help already.

Avatar n tn Nine years ago the migraines began getting out of control and for the past 3 years have caused my health and way of life to severely decline. I need someone to tell me if the white matter lesions on my brain (not MS) are a sign of an upcoming stroke. Also, I have an aura daily of black lines and bursts of white lights. When I wake up in the middle of the night it flashes and is really beginning to irritate me.
Avatar f tn 6 months ago I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and put on Tramadol ER 200 and 50mg prn for breakthrough. I was also put on Lyrica, which I stopped taking, Concerta, which works very well at a low dose, and Cymbalta 60mg that I take everyday. I stopped taking the Tramadol 2 days ago and feel horrible. I have a script waiting at the pharmacy. Do I go pick it up and taper off or keep going since I'm already this far in? Help me please.
646598 tn?1223708455 Has anyone tried Celexa or any other anti-depressants for their Fibromyalgia? I was told it was approved this past June, of 2008, for the "treatment" of Fibromyalgia. If so, did it help any?
1565420 tn?1304572548 Has anyone tried Remeron for fibromyagia yet? I take it for depression and I think because it is a hypnotic and sleep aid ...It has helped with my pain. Has anyone else experienced this or tried it yet?
1577364 tn?1296689784 I was diagnosed with fibro and degenerative arthritis 6 yrs ago. I also found out recently that I have obstructive sleep apnea, which only serves to complicate matters even further. I was on Lyrica, but have stopped taking it because of the weight gain. As of now, I am taking Klonopin and and benadryl at bedtime so I can sleep. I am going to ask my primary to help me get off the Klonopin because I just don't like being drug dependent.
Avatar n tn Yoga does wonders for my fibromyalgia pain!
Avatar f tn I have been on so many of them, and the side effects are worse than the seizures. For example, the keppra I just got off of messed with my hormones, heart rate and blood pressure. I found out by taking it, that I have a mild case of neurally mediated syncope which the keppra elevated to the point where i had to be hospitalized. It also caused major weakness and fatigue to the point where I couldnt work. And believe it or not, that was the minimum dose.
Avatar f tn I had been misdiagnosed many years prior with Fibromyalgia. I just have a strong feeling that fibromyalgia is in realty Lyme and Bart's.
1577364 tn?1296689784 I have found some relief with the cymbalta for the FM. But, I also take other meds such as anti-inflam and muscle relaxants for arthitis and spinal problems, so I dont know if the cymbalta itself is helping with the FM, or if it is the combination of meds. I still have flare-ups of FM, but not as bad. From what I've seen, there isnt one thing that seems to be helpful for the FM. Everyone seems to have a med or combo of meds that helps for them. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Anti-seizure drugs are the conventional treatment for fibromyalgia. These include Neurontin and Lyrica. Nobody really knows how these medications treat the symptoms (particularly the aches and pains) of fibromyalgia. These medications can help some individuals with fibromyalgia. But these drugs also have serious side effects.
Avatar n tn -in 2003 i had cervical fusion 6-7 with plate for herniated disc. last month i returned to neurosurgeon for help and he said c5-6 are flattening but not ready for surgery. this pain is very debillitating- 14 years with major flares that are too much to bear at times. any suggestions where to go for help.? i am 59 but feel 89, literally.
Avatar n tn hi. you might get more help if this wasnt posted in the dental forum. my mom just started taking cymbalta its an antidepressant but it seems to help her pain. i am not sure if its been approved for fibromyalgia but her dr had read a few articles about how it might help so he told the insurance company it was for depression caused by her pain so they would be sure to cover it. if your current dr isnt up to date with treatment options i would go to someone else. good luck!
