Common Questions and Answers about Zonegran and insomnia

zonegran

Avatar n tn Hello, I very much need an answer because my doctor will not give me a straight answer. I'm currently on Lamictal (800mg a day) and Zonegran (200mg a day) and I'm a college student so I tend to drink. I've never had a seizure while consuming alcohol but I'm terrified when doing so. So heres my question... When I drink (beer) with my meds, will it bring on a seizure? or just enhance the side effects? Please I very much need to know asap! Maybe even stories would helpl too.
Avatar f tn Hello!!! I was wondering what anyones experience was on Zonegran. I have tried Topamax previously but couldn't withstand anything over 1/4 of a 25 mg pill....thats right 6.25. Went to new NL and he rx Zonegran @ 25mg. I feel like a walking Zombie and have had a worsening (didn't know that was possible) migraine for the last 3 days which is how long I have been on this medication.
Avatar f tn Since October I have tried Lortab (3 strengths), gabapentin, Lyrica, Ultram, Relafen, Zonegran, and Trileptal. I am also on Cymbalta and Ambien. Any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn I gained about twenty pounds on Trileptal, (a very similar drug), in just a month, and now I am also switching to Zonegran. I'm still in the process of raising my dose, but thrilled that it's working well for your daughter!
Avatar f tn t think of them at this time) I am now being treated with Zonegran, Depakote. The Zonegran was working for a little while but I have seemed to reach a plateau. I have not been migraine free at all since November, but there have been times where my migraines have been less painful. I work for a health insurance company and I am on the computer for 8 hours a day. I have been unalbe to work a full time scheule for the past 3 months due to my migraines.
1303966 tn?1296740010 She wants to try Diamox, but wants to clear it with my Chiari specialist because of the Zonegran and risk of kidney problems (dehydration).
802234 tn?1237830136 ) My doc and I have to get Zonegran out of my regimen (cognitive confusion, dangerously and abnormally thin) any thoughts on the puffiness?
Avatar f tn t go to sleep when I am tired, I feel like there is always a motor running, and it is hard to get rest. I am wound like a rubber band. I am on 7 medications, and I would think by now, that I would be receiving some benefit. I was stopped by the police about 1.5 months ago for weaving on the highway. I have since managed to get a little more sleep. I have such a bad work schedule, it is hard to get any routine down, because then everything changes. Any suggestions?
1303966 tn?1296740010 Does anyone know of any medication for complex seizures (L-temporal lobe) that won't make you feel like a zombie? I take Zonegran 200mg and I have absolutely no energy. I'm typically very active and moving all the time. I don't even have the energy to grocery shop or cook anymore. This is ridiculous! I also take Diamox, not sure if this has any affect on my energy level. Recently had a CBC done, and it came back normal. I just started these meds 4 months ago.
Avatar n tn I do not know who to go see about the aura, I had my eyes checked when the doctors were thought I had MS and I have 20-20 vision and no floaters. I presently see a neurologist who has me on zonegran 2oo mg and flexoril 3 times a day and Diflucan as needed and Maxalt. When the headaches get out of control she puts me on prednisone. I also see a physical therapist at her office weekly for the headaches. I have had trigger point injections ( did not help).
1303966 tn?1296740010 I went off the Zonegran because my hair was falling out and my tachycardia spells stopped. At least I hope so. I also think my meds were causing a lot of my anxiety. I don't have this anxiety attacks since stopping seizure medication. I take butterbur for my headaches and this is suppose to increase the oxygenated blood to the brain. I feel so much better these days.
Avatar f tn I am 31 year old healthy female. I work part time and have 2 small children. On Sept. 17 of 2012 around mid-morning when I began to have vision problems that included spots in my eyes and almost like a shadow fell over my left eye. I thought perhaps I was going to get a migraine since I had heard people describe them that way. The vision probs lasted about 45 minutes and when it went away a headache set in. It was what I would call a mild to moderate headache. Ever since I have a headache.

Avatar f tn I appreciate it. I have been on depakote, topamax, lamotrigine, zonegran, gabepentin, lamictal, and keppra. Most of them make me so dopey and forgetful that working is definately a challenge. But...no work...no insurance...no medical care. What a nasty circle. I am allergic to the zonegran, blisters in my mouth etc. The others caused severe leg pain, eye pain, anorexia, hairloss, and I suppose i could go on. But you get the picture.

Avatar f tn I just weaned myself off risperdal and lamictal and I have terrible insomnia. Maybe it's just coincidental because I'm 51 and probably perimenopausal but it is impossible for me to get a good night's sleep without Ambien. It takes 1 1/2 hours to fall asleep and I toss and turn all night. I was diagnosed last summer with bipolar type II and I began to doubt the diagnosis and I realized that my psych had me overmedicated...
Avatar f tn I had the same problem with not be able to sleep on oxycodone they do cause insomnia in some people and me myself I had the same problem my doctor also gave me a sleeping pill at a very low dose , Explain this to your doctor and see what he/ she has to say
Avatar m tn This is one of those common sense things...of course it can. And anxiety can cause insomnia as well. It can be a vicious cycle. ANYTHING in our lives that makes us feel less than at our best (or as close to our best, or norm as possible) has to potential to trigger, or exacerbate anxiety in someone who is prone to it. Even people without a history of anxiety will experience fleeting anxiety in those kinds of situations.
Avatar f tn Its hopeless because i lay and toss and turn and then i start thinking about things and get anxiety and the cycle repeats. Those are my worst symptoms besides heart burn. I havent even had BH yets. Im so annoyed by it because i just want to sleep. Ive tried essential oils as well as binural beats and they work really well once im already falling asleep. What do you guys do to fall asleep?
458072 tn?1291415186 Hello Peggy, I started on Lexapro at the same time I was diagnosed with hypothyroid because of panic attacks and anxiety - and a lot of shortness of breath. Had to yawn a million zillion times 24/7 making weird yawning faces to "fill up". My doctor separates the two conditons - the thyroid is thyroid, and anxiety is anxiety. Whatever. Anyways, I take a VERY small amount of Lexapro. The doctor says it's about "one whiff of the opened bottle every day.
Avatar n tn All that I have to go on is Roberto and his cousin Armando who are trying this and so far they are sleeping all night and waking up refreshed. He told me that it is an all natural blend of synergistic ingredients that help you sleep throughtout the night. Thanks could please call me with the answer at 508-967-7822 for I am desperate to sleep and not be depressed.
477940 tn?1212964169 The mood swings have gotten a lot better but my anxiety and insomnia have not. I am 29wks pregnant and I know the medications I can safely use are limited. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions of what I should do. I am tired of this anxiety!!!
Avatar n tn I am 30 weeks pregnant with severe insomnia. It started suddenly 3 weeks ago--never had insomnia before. I am 35, and I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis in my early 20s. I have a strong family history of thyroid disease (mother had Graves' disease, several siblings have Hashimoto's or hypothyroidism). After I was diagnosed, I went 10 years without any thyroid tests (no symptoms).
401095 tn?1351391770 it was a big problem..my need for sleep and trying to work...how many of you had the insomnia and did anyone have the sleep syndrome like i did? i was a daytime user tho, never after 5 pm as they kept me up/the hydros/so i did not use them for sleep and relaxation..
Avatar f tn Hi, I was recenty switched from Armour thyroid to Synthroid and am experiencing insomnia which in addition tofeeling exhausted from the change (doctor started me on a low dose and said he will probably have to increase it), is making it hard to function. I have been been one that could go without 8 hours of sleep. Is this a common side effect of the medicine, or not enough medicine? Would it pass if the dose is the correct one?
