zomig

1125820 tn?1265284446 Hi MsConfusedone, You mention that you have been on almost everything, can you be more specific? It would help knowing exactly what you have tried so that I could suggest medications that you have not tried. Also, how many migraines do you get per month? Yes, most migraine medications do work well for most people. But, not everyone has the same success with all medications. For acute treatment of migraine headaches, first line treatment is triptans.
768044 tn?1294223436 The reason why it works so fast is because of what amazing bioavailability it has @ 102%, that means that Zomig Nasal Spray works better than Zomig by intravenous injection. Most oral triptans have a bioavailability of around 40% (so they work about half as fast and as strong as they would by intravenous injection) and a few of them are much less than even that, like oral Imitrex at only 15%. So, as far as bioavailability goes, Zomig Nasal Spray is pretty much the best out there on the market.
Avatar n tn I use zomig nasal spray for my migraines and one of the side effects is nose bleeds in the side that you spray the medicine in. Probably not what's going on in your case... but since you get migraines, just thought I'd throw that out there just in case!
521800 tn?1212329682 Thank you for your response, next time I go to the doctor i will definitly ask for an antimigraine. I used to also use the Zomig Nasal Spray but that would just immediatly put me to sleep and when i would wake up my body would feel sore but my headache was gone. i had also tried other pills to take as soon as i felt the migraine coming but those never really worked. Is there anything i should be worried about with the zomig because that seemed to be the only thing that worked before.
1102283 tn?1257817472 I personally use Zomig Nasal Spray and find it works extremely well. I also have found great success with Maxalt-MLTs. Although, everyone is different and all of the triptans on the market have been proven effective in clinical trials, so please discuss with the doctor in the clinic which triptan would be the most appropriate in your situation. Although, if you want to go in suggesting something...
Avatar m tn t want to have to give yourself an injection! and zomig nasal spray works great!! try zomig nasal spray or imitrex nasal spray first before injections... injections can cause skin irritation and stuff, it should be a last resort!
Avatar f tn As for triptans, my regular triptan is Zomig Nasal Spray. On average, I use Zomig Nasal Spray every other day. But, there are times where I will go 3 or 4 days without needing to use it. And there are also times where I will use it every day for sometimes up to a week. My Zomig Nasal Spray works about 90% of the time and I have no side effects either, except sometimes if I am using it every single day then my nose will get raw or I will get nose bleeds. I pretty much love my Zomig.
Avatar f tn I used to use Imagrain 50mg and they worked a treat. However the last few times I used them i started to have side effects (ntingling skin, heat waves, vertigo) and they now no longer work at relieving the pain. Last night I had the worst one of my life. Nothing helped, no position helped the pain, no massage or rubbing! I almost went to the emergancy but somehow got through it. It was some of the worst pain I have ever expereienced. It was the whole left side of my head and neck.
Avatar n tn - Hydromorphone tablets 1mg (a type of synthetic morphine that is stronger and does not have any of the nasty upset-stomach or nausea side-effects that morphine has) if the Zomig, Naproxen and Gravol all do not help and the pain is at a 8+/10 level.
86075 tn?1238115091 it comes in a pill or nasal spray. if you can deal with nasal spray use it. it works really fast i just cant spray anything up my nose! haha one time was all i could handle. i take maxalt. for me it works the fastest. your dr. will probably give you several diff. kinds of samples and have you see which works best on you.
Avatar n tn After some time of taking zomig nearly everyday I had to resort to syndol again. The side effects of zomig are not pleasant at all and drain all my energy and are too expensive to take everyday. The syndol seemed to be working but after a while they kind of stopped working again but was again addicted. I have lost hope of my headache problem ever being solved. I cannot stand all this pain and drugs. One way or another I feel sick all times of the day with no exaggeration whatsoever.
768044 tn?1294223436 midrin seems to work the best for me, plus, I can get a lot more of it per month than the other triptan types.
Avatar n tn t working or appears to only work minimally, the dosage should be increased, depending upon the side-effects the patient may be experiencing. If Topamax isn't working, other medications should be tested--such as beta-blockers. Migraines do not respond to conventional headache treatment or medications, such as tylenol or aspirin--this is likely why you weren't feeling any relief from the NSAIDs you were taking (ibuprofen, Naproxen, etc.).
Avatar n tn d suggest trying another triptan. There are lots on the market. I use zomig nasal spray, it works fairly well... not 100%, but, it can stop a lot of my migraines. If zomig doesn't work for you, there are still tons of other triptans on the market.. maxalt... and try different types of delivery methods too. Are you taking tablets. Tablets do NOT work very well AT ALL. Try a triptan in a nasal spray.
Avatar f tn ) and axert (worked extremely well for a time but I developed serotonin-related side-effects and had to switch to zomig). I have tried mega-doses of advil (prescribed) but that caused rebound headaches... I stopped taking advil for a long time and have recently begun taking naproxen (a different type of NSAID) only when there is related neck/shoulder/back pain and the zomig is not providing the relief that I need or I have already taken the maximum 2 doses of zomig for the day.
Avatar n tn i did get a script for zomig nasil spray it helpes but dont last long.nothing shows up on my mri , thankfully the tumor is still gone. i have tried so many meds , like you cant rember there names. thanks for your service in the military , sorry you had to go threw this serving our country. take care of your self.
Avatar m tn The triptan that I take is called zomig, and I take a nasal spray version. There are lots of triptans on the market and imitrex is one of the first, the generic name is called sumatriptan and it is what they will give you in the hospital, but by injecteion, if you ever go in for a migraine... they won't give you any other triptan at the hospital usually because sumatriptan by injection is pretty much the best triptan out there!!
Avatar f tn My doctor put me on a medication called SYNAREL Nasal Spray for the next six months. Just wondering if anyone else was on this nasal spray? Side effects? I've been on it for 2.5 weeks. I've had horrible headaches daily, extreme fatigue and muscle and joint pain. My doctor does not think this is related to the Synarel. Anyone with similar experience?
Avatar f tn examples are maxalt-MLT, zomig-ZMT, zomig nasal spray, imitrex or imitrex nasal spray. But, only your doctor can prescribe these or say if they are actually appropriate for you and your headache (not everyone can take them).
Avatar m tn I am in week 4 of the Olysio/Sovaldi combo therapy and am disappointed at the side effects I'm experiencing. Prior to starting the treatment I was very encouraged by what I was finding on the boards, especially after two bad experiences with interferon treatment and an allergic reaction to ribavirin. Unfortunately I am experiencing maddening itching which I'm controlling with Allegra and extreme fatigue and an all around foggy feeling.
Avatar f tn I posted a question asking if zomig knocked other people out.... or if anyone found any sort of knock-out side-effects with triptans... I totally feel out of it after I take my triptans... it takes the pain away... but I am out of it... tired... fatigued... and even confused sometimes for hours after the migraine... sometimes for the rest of the day!!!
Avatar f tn t work then it is highly possible to develop dependency issues quickly when using such medications, or other nasty side-effects... and the last thing you need is to deal with is dependency on an opiate or opiate related side-effects in addition to your migraines. And... hydropmorphone, in my opinion, is one of the BEST pain killers on the market in the opiate class of pain killers... so, if it is not working for you... those types of pain killers probably won't work for you...
