Common Questions and Answers about Zofran interactions

zofran

Avatar f tn My dr. just prescribed me Zofran for my nausea. Is anyone here taking Zofran while also taking Effexor for anxiety? Since they both deal with seratonin, my dr. wants me to have EKG's to monitor any interaction. Help!
Avatar f tn As for how to treat the symptoms (ie nausea), definitely work with your doctor on that. There have been reported drug interactions between Phenergan and Paxil. The interaction is classified as a "moderate" severity. Read here: http://www.ehealthme.com/drug-interactions/promethazine-and-paxil And here: http://www.drugs.com/drug-interactions/mepergan-fortis-with-paroxetine-1558-8514-1800-0.
Avatar m tn First time I got the rash, Eucerin calming cream worked. Benadryl, hydrochortosone did not. No drug interactions there. I currently have rash again, and NOTHING worked. I finally TOLD my Dr. To prescribe Fluocininide. Again no interactions there. It has worked great. It is not completely gone, but is subsiding and itch is so much better. Don't know about drug interactions for your antinausea, but Zofran works great, it causes annoying headache occasionaly but no drowsiness.
2147300 tn?1369689688 Saw doc today, got script for zofran but forgot to ask how to use it. Can someone tell me when you are supposed to take it? Bottle says 3 times a day as needed but can I just take one now and then and how long does it take to work? 4mg. Thanks.
Avatar m tn Due to recent concerns about Zofran toxicity, and possible drug interactions, we had best wait til................ My hep dr is out of the office this week and I asked my regular dr for a script for zofran. Is there cause for alarm?
1750760 tn?1411482476 BTW, I was told by my doctor that most of the other anti-nausea meds are contra-indicated with Incivek due to interactions, but that Zofran (Ondansetron is the generic name) is fine. It USED to be hard to get approved due to expense, but is cheap now that the generic is available. In fact, it is cheap enough now that hardly anybody would blink an eye at paying for it.
Avatar m tn Go to the health food store and get you some ginger chews...They work really well, along with the zofran,it should work....
Avatar f tn In 2009, scientists at Stanford University School of Medicine have discovered that a commonly available non-addictive drug can prevent symptoms of withdrawal from opioids with little likelihood of serious side effects. The drug, ondansetron, (zofran) which is already approved to treat nausea and vomiting, appears to avoid some of the problems that accompany existing treatments for addiction to opiates.
Avatar f tn t remember the study well enough to say if that reaction is due to slow metabolism or medication interactions. Apparently there are a lot of side effects and drug interactions with demerol and there are better medications available now. Many years ago I was given oral demerol for post-op pain management following shoulder surgery. I had a Mumford procedure which involves cutting off the last inch or so of the collar bone where it inserts into the shoulder joint.
Avatar f tn i also take hormones and xanax...i read where alot of my meds have interactions...but pharmisits say its ok.............
1201433 tn?1328997637 I just want to say it is like night and day since they gave me a script for some , started today, I was up all last night vomiting, do not suffer ask your doctor for some!!

8367118 tn?1442605420 Maybe look into promethazine?
14346590 tn?1451854557 So has anyone taken zofran while pregnant? I try to stay away from all medicine except my vitamins but the other night I ate something and I'm guessing my baby really didn't like it because I've been kind of sick since then but the other night the nausea was unbearable so I took one.
Avatar f tn Any reviews on zofran ? Im 20 weeks and ive been taking it once a day almost my whole pregnancy to help me keep down food. But now im hearing bad things about it. I havent had an ultra sound yet so im worried about it?
Avatar f tn I'm now 12w3d and I've been having really bad morning sickness to the point I have to go to the hospital 3times a week just for fluids and I've been taking the prescription zofran since I was 9 weeks. I recently saw that zofran is being sued for causing birth defects.. I've asked my doctor about it and she just says that there is no evidence yet.. I'm trading the pill form and getting thru iv.. I'm a ftm and I just don't know what to do right now.
Avatar f tn How many mommies here had to take zofran? Is it really safe I am taking it now to help me on my sickness but worries still in my mind. Share your thought about this med.
Avatar f tn I have terrible morning sickness and I was given a prescription for ondansetron 4mg which is the generic version of zofran. I'm scared to take it because of the possible side effects and the warnings I've seen on TV. I don't want to take any risks when it comes to my baby. Any thoughts on this?
Avatar f tn Dmpnonna, I weighed 120 before pregnancy. Minus 40 pounds. I got down to 79 pounds. I went into preterm labor bc my body just simply could not support the weight of my baby. At 22 weeks my baby would not have survived. I was told by so many doctors "you have your baby now, he WILL die" zofran saved his life. If it wasn't for zofran I would weigh 107 now and I wouldn't still be carrying our sweet little boy at 30 weeks. Sometimes drugs are necessary.
Avatar f tn I've lost 7 pounds since I've been pregnant due to the morning sickness and appetite loss, so my doctor prescribed me Zofran but I really don't want to take it. I'm sure y'all seen the commercials and I looked it up and it does cause those things. What should I do?
11529448 tn?1419052525 So my doctor prescribed me some nausea medicine called zofran and I was watching a commercial on tv and it was talking about how babies are being born with birth defects after using the nausea medicine zofran. So should I stop taking it and find other ways to deal with the nausea ? or should I continue to use it if my doctor recommended it.
Avatar f tn My friend took it with her pregnancies and delivered healthy babies, but i know there are massive lawsuits against zofran. I would say consult with your Dr and approach with caution.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am 6 weeks pregnant almost 7 now and I have had the worse nausea of my life. Not much of throwing up just nausea. I was prescribed Zofran to help with that but I have found that a lot of women who have taken it have had their child born with deformities. Has anyone taken this medicine before???
