Hi all. I am currently taking ziprasidone along with lamictil and topamax and Lexapro as well as an occasional Ativan. I have been taking 80mg ziprasidone-geodon- twice a day for almost three years now. It has made me gain almost 200 pounds! I need to get off of it but Everytime I do I start the withdrawal. Has anybody else been on geodon this long and gained so much weight? I even exercise and can't get it off.
(have been on said meds for about 5 years). her 2 suggestions are abilify and ziprasidone--i know nothing about either of these meds and would greatly appreciate any info. and input you may have. (i have until friday to research these meds and want to be as informed as possible) thank you very much in advance for your time.
Hi. I'm bipolar with psychosis and am currently tapering off of ziprasidone 80mg twice daily. I totally dropped my second dose along with lamotrigine,and Lexapro. So right now I am currently taking ziprasidone 80 mg, chantix 1mg, topamax 50mg 3x day, and ropinirole for side effects 1 mg once a day. I can't believe I actually made it through the night last night.
It also slightly increases the QTc interval in some patients and increases the risk of a potentially lethal type of heart arrythmia known as torsades de pointes. Ziprasidone should be used cautiously in patients taking other medications likely to interact with ziprasidone or increase the QTc interval.
She is currently taking Cymbalta, Lamotrigine, Seroquel and Ziprasidone. She has been depressed for a few years but it suddenly got worse since she started to take ziprasidone. She has been taking it for about 2 weeks now. She informed us that she is hearing voices telling her to harm herself. She has experimented in cutting in the past, but yesterday she did it to the extreme resulting in numerous cuts to her arm. Is taking these four medications together a detriment to her mind set?

Ziprasidone (Geodon) is a medication that must be withdrawn from very slowly. I would urge you, STRONGLY, to seek the advice of a qualified physician to help with this procedure. When I press on one bump it is very painful. I know there must be some impurity in the pore. I have tried bacitracin, Apple Cider Vinegar, Colloidal Silver, (I apologize if that is the wrong spelling). I popped the painful bump yesterday all it did was bleed and it soon turned purple. This morning I woke up and it is purple and looks like it formed a scab. I am going to try Neosporin tonight. Does anyone know what this may be? Please advise.
A friend of mind took 1200 mg of ziprasidone should I be worried? I don't think it is correct. Please let me know, I have been looking but can't find anything on that amount. She needs help, she is not in a good place right now.
Besides Clonazepan, Solof, Lorazepan, Divalproex, Citalopran, Donepezil,Divalproex, Enalapril, Carb/Levo tab she started taking Ziprasidone four weeks ago.Please tell me if she should stop taking some of those medications.
Cool , that's great new's them finding the right dose for you , sometime's that's all it take's instead of switching from med to med . Are you sleeping better now ? . As for Risperdal quiet a few people have problem's with weight gain from that drug i did also , but i found it more effective in smaller dose than higher because i got other side effect's at a higher dose simmilar to the Ziprasidone.
My body got lazy unable to run properly, now I am suffering from psoriasis which is a skin problem. The doctor said my body immunity declined after covid. Impurity increased in my blood. so its have been more than a year still I am recovering after the affects of covid.
About a month ago I was able to lower my self off of paliperidone and onto ziprasidone which is the same category of drug as paliperidone but studies have shown that out of all antipsychotics ziprasidone had the least amount of weight gain. So I’ve been on ziprasidone for about a month now and I’m still losing weight while walking. Sometimes after my walks I only accumulate around 100 calories a day. On days that I splurge a bit and take in around 800 calories a day, I gain weight though.
They gave me Depakote Er divalproex sodium 500mg and also Geodon ziprasidone HC 40mg for the pain they told me it would help me out for the pain I was going throw. I started looking the pills up on the internet and found out they where used for people with Bipolar issue.
How r these drugs so cheap in India while expensive in us? Are they not exactly the same as in us. Impurity in compound? Similarly tenofovir is also cheap here.
I have no fever. However, I have a concern of what is draining-out. Before it was clear color with no impurity, but it is now murkier and sticky with some fishy-like smelly (bad smell) tissues.
I asked the doctor to start anti-biotic IV and he seemed to hegitate because I do not have a fever and am doing well. He expecs the amount of drain fells out on it's own soon.
When you have infection, did you see the drainage change (color, impurity, smell, etc) ?
Any medication can sometimes take a week or two or longer to take full effect while some will take effect instantaneously. It all depends on the person of course. When I took Geodon I sometimes would "drool and stumble" figuratively for the former (felt really dumb some days) and literally for the latter (dragged my feet and sometimes felt drunk).
I didn't notice any weight gain but again, everyone is different.and it isn't really know for that like ziprasidone(Zyprexa) is.
The source of the health problem was quite quickly identified, and the production operation was changed back to the original process, and the tryptophan product was again available free of any toxic impurity. This freedom from any impurity was acknowledged by the FDA, but they transferred the toxic aspect of the substance from the impurity contained within it (now no longer present) to the substance itself. The implied declaration was that tryptophan was intrinsically toxic.
I've noticed 3 days taking just 40 mg. per day of Ziprasidone (Zeldox) that my vision is very blurry (my eyes are bad at the best of times - wear special contacts & glasses) so this is very bothersome. It's listed on another site as a Common side effect, not an uncommon one....but I can't seem to see if it eventually goes away?? Would appreciate any comments ASAP before I see my doctor soon.
