Common Questions and Answers about Zegerid sodium content

prilosec

Avatar m tn (the perscription for that is Axid 300mg)....I have been on them all, but not the ones with Sodium Bicarbonate like Zegerid OTc....I have been looking to find others who are now not responding to meds and what they are doing, I have found that Milk Thistle could possibly be of some help, I'll give it a try...
Avatar f tn I am on a 2000 mgs sodium diet. I am having a hard time finding low sodium foods like corn muffin mix, taco seasoning etc. I was wondering if anyone had found a place to but such things.
Avatar f tn Heat them up in the microwave for 20 seconds first, just to be on the safe side for bacteria that could harm your baby. And if it's the salt content you're worried about, drink lots of water? I really like v8 juice, and it seems to be the only thing that doesn't make me ill, but it has very high sodium content too. I think once in a while it's probably ok though.
1765695 tn?1313669583 Yeah I think that is exactly it, staying away from high processed food, which is so frustrating because it literally seems to be everything these days and sodium, sodium, sodium. I did read that rinsing canned veggies and food can help but it is best to buy frozen vegetables if fresh is not an option. Thanks so much for your posts, they certainly do help!
Avatar m tn As Bill said, salt restriction is important -- sodium content is usually highest in packaged and processed foods, so in addition to not using salt, it's important to read labels and avoid high sodium content (<2,000 mg a day is usually recommended if there is ascites). Doctors might also limit fluid intake or prescribe diuretics. Hope that helps.
Avatar f tn If you buy the pre-packaged foods which do work on keeping you on track with your points etc. The sodium content is too high in these prepared foods. Its not just Weight Watchers, its South Beach Diet, etc.
Avatar m tn When one buys a water softening system, what happens is the mineral content is exchanged for salt--or sodium. Most comcommercial water softening systems bypass the kitchen tap so people can have unsoftened drinking water. This is because salt, which is traded in the softening process for the "hard" minerals is bad for your cardiovascular system.
Avatar f tn If you avoid adding additional salt to your food at meals that would help you cut 1/2 to 1/3 of your sodium content a day. Add additional spices such as pepper, garlic (not garlic salt), lemon, and onion to name a few. Sodium content is high in all our convenience and prepackaged foods, cold cuts, smoked meats (smoked ham, bacon, etc), canned foods (soups, stews, vegetables, etc), and cheeses. There are products out there that are made low sodium, so you need to read the food labels.
Avatar f tn Decrease your intake in sodium, increase your water intake and elevate your feet. To help flush out access water in your swollen feet, eat fruits high in water content to help flush out extra water (watermelon, melon, honey dew melon..
Avatar m tn The blood/ skin contact issue was explained to me (I had the same question) by a hematologist...Because blood is an "isotonic" solution ( the sodium content in the blood on top of the skin is equal to the sodium content in the tissues beneath the skin) it and it's contents will not be absorbed into the cells unless there is a break in the skin which provides direct contact with the blood stream and serous fluids.
Avatar f tn Then I became sick with bronchitis and needed to take an antibiotic and had to stop taking the Zegerid for about a week. Upon continuing the Zegerid I have had increasing typical acid reflux symptoms, to the point of waking me up at night. So I called my doc and started taking another Zegerid during the day, and taking Gaviscon before bed... this really hasn't helped. I notice that when I sit for a long period I get a build up of gas in my stomach/intestines, resulting in passing gas.
Avatar f tn t going to hurt you (although I would avoid it if you have high blood pressure due to the sodium content) Just don't eat it every day:)
Avatar f tn Many people get caught up with fat/carb content but it is even more important to focus on sodium/sugar content. Your body requires a healthy amount of all of these but high intake of sugar and sodium will cause you to retain more water weight obviously counteracting your desire for stomach definition. Isolating muscle groups during weight training 4-5 times a weeks is actually far more effective than whole body training 3 times per week.

Avatar f tn I'm worrying myself sick. Our first baby didn't make it past 5 weeksm ill be 10 weeks Tuesday and I'm worrying about everything. I'm just curious how much sodium is ok? I like Ramon's noodles....a lot.
Avatar m tn Hi Chuck-- It's possible the soy sauce has monosodium glutamate (MSG) in it, which for some people (myself included) causes palpitations. Also, there is a high sodium content in soy sauce. Additionally, if you've been using it on top of other foods that have MSG (like Chinese food from a restaurant), you might be getting a double whammy, so to speak. I would lay off of it and if that doesn't solve the problem, call your doctor and get in for an evaluation.
5601615 tn?1383450616 I would just warn about the sodium content. Which lots of salt can cause high blood pressure, and the fat content.
Avatar m tn Even natural foods like celery or carrots have some sodium in them. Have you ever looked at the sodium content in packaged dinners, canned soups or condiments? Scary.
Avatar f tn I have a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel 11kg (he's big but NOT fat) and am researching the best food to give him as he is in Congestive heart failure. The only food the vet recommended are the prescription diets (Hills, Royal Canin etc) and I refuse to give those as they have animal by products etc so I feed Burns Low fat (low sodium) u til I find something better. My real issue though is low sodium chews.
Avatar m tn Earlier this year, researchers reporting in the Archives of Internal Medicine said the risks of oral sodium phosphate solutions and some oral sodium phosphate tablets were rare but real, particularly for elderly patients. Dr. Hemant K. Roy, an associate professor in the department of medicine at Evanston-Northwestern Healthcare in Illinois, writing in an accompanying editorial in the journal, described the findings as "quite alarming.
Avatar f tn i have been that i might have gerd and was put on zegerid ro see it if works.is that what you would have done?
Avatar f tn Thank you for your response. You're right as far as the eating I am not watching the sodium content as well but only after the high BP diagnosis.. I have started walking 30 minutes a day but losing weight has been a touch one, but I will have to work a little harder on it. It appears that stress has a lot to do with my high BP readings as well but hate to take a pill for that as well!
Avatar f tn I have had acid reflux for years now and i have been taking meds for it. My doctor told me I need to try to ween myself off of the medicine (zegerid, because nexium and a million other meds dont woork). I tried doing that and I still keep getting heartburn no matter what. I have gotten the endoscopy several times and the doctors just say that the bottom of my esophagus is not tight, which gives me G.E.R.D. I can't deal with this anymore.
