Zegerid and lpr

Common Questions and Answers about Zegerid and lpr

prilosec

Avatar m tn I was on Zegerid and probiotics(still taking them) for 3 months prior to September and still had the swollen tonsils. I cannot swallow properly, I snore so loud I wake myself up along with the household, I am always gagging and choking on my own saliva, constant allergies and post nasal drip...What does this have to do with GERD? I have no heartburn and no irregular amount of erosions in my esophagus!
Avatar f tn I've been having issues for months. I'm a 37 year old female who was in generally good health until about 7 months ago. I ended up in the ER because I was having heart palpitations. The ER couldn't find anything wrong, and after 2 different cardiologists, two holter monitors, many EKGs and an Echocardiogram, it was determined that I have "harmless" skipped beats (PVCs or PACs).
1364792 tn?1278051187 Omeprazole (INN) (pronounced /oʊˈmɛprəzoʊl/) is a proton pump inhibitor used in the treatment of dyspepsia, peptic ulcer disease (PUD), gastroesophageal reflux disease (GORD/GERD), laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR), and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It was first marketed in the US in 1989 by AstraZeneca under the brand names Losec and Prilosec, and is now also available from generic manufacturers under various brand names.
Avatar f tn Hi- I have taken Zegerid and found it to be the best of GERD/acid-reflux med's. They all do take some time, but for me it's the best by a good margin, with Kapidex/Prevacid second. My insurance co. doesn't cover Zegerid as well as they cover Prevacid, but my doctor calls it the "Rolls Royce" of stomach meds.
Avatar n tn So far I have tried Prevacid, Aciphex, Prilosec,Protonix, and Nexium. Aciphex gave me bad side effects and Nexium made my reflux symptoms worse. Prilosec did absolutely nothing for me. I was successfully treated for H. Pylori in Nov 07. Since then I have been suffering from Water Brash and now heartburn. I don't know where to turn. My GI now wants me to take Zegerid(isn't this med just like Prilosec with sodium?). Any input will be greatly appreciated.
6780206 tn?1386121349 The stomach system has to have acid to work right-the valve that shuts the acid off from coming back into your throat is governed by acid-when the acid hits that muscle it contracts and closes -you get yourself to alkaline- hence shutting the pumps down and it relaxes the muscle and guess what -- it stays open -& reflux escapes to the throat-- I was referred to a Chiropractor -that found an Hiatal Hernia -he put that back in place-a simple procedure and showed me how to do it-put me on Zy
Avatar m tn Okay thank you. Now we have an accurate answer.
Avatar f tn I get terrible heartburn and I dont know what to do with myself because I take Zegerid EVERY DAY!! This is starting to seriously interfere with my life, and work. I can't do much when I get stomach pains. Why does the zegerid not work sometimes? And how do i get rid of this terrible heartburn? and why do i have to keep taking it if there's nothing specifically wrong with me?
Avatar m tn I've been suffering with LPR for a year and a half and I'm TIRED of it. I NEED my voice back so I can sing again. I have stress and anxiety problems and I feel like it's not just something that makes LPR get worse but perhaps it is the culprit! Do all of you LPR sufferers have stress/anxiety problems? I think it has something to do with the short breaths making the diaphragm tense plus all of the other tension and also indigestion all combined from stress/anxiety.
Avatar f tn t have any feeling of acid in my throat, it did correlate to my main symptoms of pain, nausea and cough. I started taking Zegerid 40/1100. Then I became sick with bronchitis and needed to take an antibiotic and had to stop taking the Zegerid for about a week. Upon continuing the Zegerid I have had increasing typical acid reflux symptoms, to the point of waking me up at night. So I called my doc and started taking another Zegerid during the day, and taking Gaviscon before bed...
Avatar n tn I went 2 times to ENT and to my primary doctor and looks like they do do not taking seriously. And I am a person who has a good insurance as well? Please someone help me what's going on with me?
Avatar f tn As I read more off this site, I decided to have old rheumo. report and swallow study from by GI sent to neuro. Neuro pa called and said--did anyone ever talk with you about your swallow study. No, only confirmed that I did have esophageal spasms, but not really said anything. (That was 12/09) She told me yesterday that my neuro said there is info on the report about silent aspiration showing, too. That could increase my risk of pneumonia, etc.
Avatar m tn m 24 now) I have had Laryngopharyngeal reflux and 3-4 weeks ago I was on a hike and got an absolutely terrible burning sensation in my chest that kept coming and going throughout the walk back to the car and the burning continued the rest of the day just not as bad and it has also continued to this day. It doesn't seem to respond to ppi and I'm very anxious that due to my near lifelong LPR I developed cancer.
Avatar f tn I was using ranitidine (generic for zantac). I was having horrible stomach pain and dr told me to try zegerid....and holy smokes its awesome!!! Expensive but good stuff $23 for 42 @ target.
Avatar f tn i have been that i might have gerd and was put on zegerid ro see it if works.is that what you would have done?
Avatar f tn One thing to note, is that there is also something just like gerd but they distinguish as being higher. Called Laryngopharyngeal Reflux (LPR). Here is information on LPR. https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/15024-laryngopharyngeal-reflux-lpr Let me know what you think.
168348 tn?1379357075 Our GI wanted to give me samples of it for Jenna since my copay went up to 100 for the Protonix and I asked him what it compared to and that is what he told me, needless to say we did not change meds since the Protonix was working fine, I didnt want to risk changing meds.
Avatar m tn After the procedure, I had zero acid responses. LPR and GERD are very closely related, it is possible that the first diagnosis missed the mark a bit. You might consider asking your doctor for an acid test performed on an outpatient basis that records your acid level over a longer span of time, usually several days. It isn't much fun, but you will get answers.
Avatar n tn , caring for elderly parents, unexpected deaths of brother and brother-in-law, and most recently, learning that my husband has cancer. Prilosec and Prevacid offered temporary relief 10 years ago and since going on Zegerid, I really have felt much better. My pharmacist assures me the the nitro has been in use for these spasms for "quite awhile". I guess the jury will be out for me until my next episode and I can try a tablet.
Avatar f tn Hi Guys I have significant LPR reflux after taking a long course of Antibiotics for my Prostate problems. I have a lot of swelling sensation/feeling in my throat and stiffness in my neck, is this normal? I also had mild oral thrush and the ENT doc Harley street London says it’s quite common to come together but I dunno, the thrush has subsided a bit but he gave me Omeprazole but it messed up my stomach, so I stopped after a month, is LPR a chronic condition?
Avatar f tn I have GERD and LPR for almost 2 months or maybe more than that and I was really curious when will these stop. Im scared that there will be a time that I won't be able to speak anymore. I was also taking medications that lessen the symptoms in short amount of time then they will go back again. I've always thought that I would be experiencing the process all over again. I hope you can give me any advices or tips to help me completely prevent my illness.
Avatar m tn Hi and welcome to the GERD forum. Not being a medical professional, the only thing I can advise, is just go get the testing, the more u stress over this the worse u will feel...GERD and reflux feeds off that, and u will only get more scared as u will feel worse.... Keep in mind this was a choice u made, and only u can avoid it in the future....
Avatar f tn Hi and welcome to the GERD forum. It is very possible that what u r dealing with is GERD ....LPR has all the same symptoms and u have to treat it the same....u may want to try to avoid foods they trigger ur symptoms, so keep a journal so u know which of the "typical" foods affect u, and there are ways to modify ur lifestyle as well as ur diet...like no eating b4 u lay down for at least 3 to 4 hours...elevate the head of ur bed....no tight clothes....
Avatar m tn Hallo ! I 'm just reading your post as I 'm looking for a support group myself. I have been diagnosed with LPR myself. And I also have this weird thing of waking up at night and feeling the urge to eat. That can have several causes and there is actually a name for it NES or Night Eating Syndrome. It have its roots in emotional imbalance or simply not eating enough throughout the day and anything in between.
Avatar m tn I wanted to share my LPR story, and hopefully begin a fresh thread for LPR sufferers. I have seen 100s of posts on regarding LPR, but found none by people that have actually cured their symptoms. If you are out there, please post replies - these are important for moral and confidence building. June, 2013 Here’s my story. My symptoms started all of a sudden - I choked on a bit of water, and when I coughed it off I tried to burp and realized I couldn't.
Avatar f tn The good news is you can get rid of LPR. My mother had severe LPR and severe GERD for 5 years. Now she suffers neither. By stopping all acid blockers and taking digestive enzyme supplements (helps digest proteins, carbohydrates and fats) and betaine HCI with pepsin supplements (helps with stomach acid production), both conditions were gone within a few weeks. The extra bonus was that her gastritis is almost gone after a year and a half on these supplements.
Avatar f tn I am experiencing just these syptoms and was told it may be LPR. I am taking Omeprazole for acid reflux but have noticed no improvement. CHOKING EPISODES FEELING OF LUMP IN THROAT EXCESSIVE THROAT CLEARING I am seriously doubting this condition is what I truly have because it came on following a horrible flu with massive chest congestion and coughing spasms.
