Common Questions and Answers about Yasmin hormones

yaz

473222 tn?1214439873 The pill shuts down your own natural production of hormones and replaces them with lab manufactured hormones. Yasmin caused me to develop B12 deficiency, extreme anxiety, food intolerances, low libido and many more problems. All along I just persevered with the pill because I thought it was just my body trying to adjust. Now of course I know it was my body trying to fight the terrible changes been forced on it. After a lot of specialist fertility treatment and readjustment I am recovering.
Avatar f tn It seems like since your body is already so out of balance with hormones, then when you put more hormones into your body it just throws your body off completely, hence why the change in mood. That is my thought on the matter, I could be wrong. But ya as much as anyone can tell me about yasmin, the better. good things, bad.. I wanna hear em guys!! THANKS!
Avatar n tn I just started Yasmin for acne, having previously taken Microgynon with no issues. I've only taken Yasmin for about 2 weeks, but I've noticed it seems to be really affecting me. I feel so fatigued, low, lacking motivation and just generally flat. So strange.
869854 tn?1239978206 I just started to take yasmin not yaz and hope this helps me. I have been off the pill for years. I had no luck with the copper iud for 4 years hormone free but the bleeding never go less and the duration never did either. The nuva ring made me depressed tried that for 4 mnths after the iud. I am 39 and my hormones are changing greatly my which they say can happen at this age. my normal periods all my life are changing to every 21 day last period came 109 days later. My GYNsuggeseted the pill.
Avatar f tn Try Yasmin (and if you cant take hormones, try the Copper IUD). Yasmin works well with PCOS, plus you can still lose wegith while on Yasmin. Your PCOS is causing your abnormal bleeding. You could also have cysts too. Have you had an ultrasound recently?
Avatar n tn I too am on Yasmin, but never had any problems while taking them. I was told that Yasmin bc is the best choice given to those with acne problems and pcos. It's a mild dose of bc. Try to give yourself 3 months to regulate it in your body. Consult your doctor if you have serious side affects. Are you taking any other meds for your pcos? I'm also on Metformin for weight issues. I started my journey in September 2008 at 333lbs and I am now at 272lbs.
704655 tn?1228685706 Hello, I also have dealt with the same since I was 19 I am now 28. My doctor have only prescibed birth control "Yasmin" to help control or even "cure" my facial hair from under my chin; However, I can't say that the Yasmin didn't work because I never really stayed on it long enough to find out b/c of the side affects. Nevertheless, you may be a different make-up than me. My body just couldn't handle it.
Avatar n tn It is possible to have a baby, don't worry! Talk to your doctor about Yasmin - this medication can help, but it depends of your condition. Have you talked to your doctor about some kind of treatments? I had laparoscopy done three years ago, but my situation with endometriosis was serious, and after that I started taking Yasmin (i did't felt any side effects that were serious). After the lap, I lost my right ovary, but I am still able to have a baby. So, don't worry about that.
Avatar n tn all of the things that come along with hypothyroidism. Is it possible that the Yasmin caused my thyroid to stop producing enough hormones? If so, is it possible to take medication or use other treatments to get my hormones back to normal without having to take a pill that will mess with my body every day for the rest of my life?
Avatar f tn I married in 2012! Never had baby before and first time yasmin bill! I used to take yasmin pill to postpone pregnancy for one year and stopped last november2013! Since that day am trying to get pregnant! Otherwise hormones prolactin up and down! My doctor advised for dostinex! But i get tired of pills! And all my checkup ok except prolactin! Any advice?? I know stress postpone the ovulation but its out of my hands!
Avatar f tn The bleeding that you are having now is most likely the withdrawal bleeding caused by the withdrawal of the hormones present in the Yasmin that you have taken for 2 days continuously in high doses. It is not implantation bleeding or a feature of pregnancy as you were involved in sexual intercourse during the “safe” period when the chances of pregnancy are almost nil. The bleeding is likely to subside in next 2-3 days. In addition to this, your next period may be delayed by a few days.
Avatar m tn I went to see a Doctor and he ran untra sound test on me and fiound that i have PCOD and he advised me to take Yasmin to first regularised my period which i did, I had no problim during the first month of taking it, I started the second month on 22.12.11 and since 30.12.11 i have been spotted lightly, sometimes i have some blood-like discharge, black and brown colour. I am still on the pill as my Doctor told me that it is normal to spot lightly while on the pill.
Avatar f tn i also liked it cause it doesnt have hormones like the pill or patch. does anyone have any feed back on the type of bc they use that have good feedback.
Avatar f tn You're asking if taking the emergency contraceptive two times in a week was a waste because it wouldn't be effective the second time? That seems like a moot point now, since you did it. If you want to find out if this method will have a chance of not working, you could ask your doctor or a pharmacist. Unfortunately, while you will get an answer to your question, you might also have to listen to them telling you that what you did was a terrible idea.
Avatar f tn so I have been on yaz for about 10 months and for some reason my pharmacist said that I was out of refills and switched me back to yasmin which i had taken before. Unfortunately I missed day 7 of my yasmin pill, not taking it until when I took my pill on day 8... About a day or two later, my stomache started cramping up all over... I kept saying it must have been from something I ate, but now 5 days later, my the cramping continues.
Avatar f tn I was still worried so i took 2 Yasmin combination pill on day 5 and 2 Yasmin pills on day 6. I did not take the pill after that. Ever since I have had heart burn and stomach ache, belching and pain between the shoulders. I usually have a 30-32 day cycle. Today, I am day 17 of my cycle and been bleeding for 4 days now. MED HELP Doctors forum opined that it may be due to irregular use of Yasmin in high doses those 2 days.
Avatar n tn Oh, I'm so sorry your daughter is going through this at such a young age. I really don't know what may cause her to bleed so much so often. What other symptoms does she have? Does she have excessive hair growth? Weight gain? Anything else that might indicate PCOS? Have the doctor see her so that they can run some tests, maybe an ultrasound or something. Good luck, honey.
1519601 tn?1298475950 I used to take yasmin... but i also had alot of organ issues due to that b.c and in and out of the hospital alot back in '07...i stopped taken it in 2008 when i turned up pregnant by my ex then had a misscarriage... but i was also on zoloft and some other med for my stomach issues along with yasminand i gained ALOOTT of weight... not sure which pill to blame... Well i have been off B.C since 2008 and i lost all my weight since i stopped taken all perscribed pills and had the miscarriage.
Avatar n tn ve been taking Yasmin for a long time now. My mom suggested maybe the symptoms I was having were related to my extended use of birth control, but I never thought it would have such an impact on me. Best of luck to you and your daughter!
Avatar n tn i have been taking the yasmin pill for a few years and its recently making me not feel passionate with my partner. When i stop taking it to have a period i feel passionate. This isnt good for me and my partner as our sex life is non existant unless im having a period.
Avatar f tn I have herpes 2 and I always have and outbreak after my period because my hormones fluctuate. My gynaecologist said I should skip my period for 6 months to stop these outbreaks. I took my birth control Yasmin without a break but my period still came. It now won't stop? I have kept on taking my pill but I have been bleeding for 12 days. Will my body get used to it and go back to normal?
Avatar f tn Get bloodwork and an ultrasound to make sure you do not have cysts or endo or fibroids. I take Yasmin bc and never have problems with it.
Avatar m tn Then I got back on it a year later, and started having major signs of depression, weight gain, and just a change in my hormones. I use to be the bubbliest happiest person in the world before I started taking this pill. Now I find myself majorly depressed, and have been gaining weight. I am also, tired all the time. Before I started taking the pill, I use to have so much energy. I know that I am not the same person as I was before I started taking this pill.
Avatar f tn I am a healthy 45 yr old woman who started taking Yasmin on November 26, 2008. My last period was around the 12 of November. I started taking the Yasmin immediately because I wanted to try to hold off the horrible PMS I've been having for the past 6 months or so. I realize I should've waited for my next period, but I'm a single parent and I'm not very nice to my 10 yr old son when pms hits. My question is, when will the contraceptive actually be effective?
Avatar f tn There are a lot of benefits to keeping your ovaries. The hormones do more than contribute to fertility. You should really discuss the pros and cons with your doctor. Have you been on birth control to manage them?
