Common Questions and Answers about Xyzal what is it

xyzal

Avatar n tn Hello there, Welcome to the allergy forum. I see you joined Med help this month. You say you have taken the xyzal tablets for 5 years. That's a long time to be taking a medication. Here is what I would suggest. I would make an appointment with the doctor who prescribed the xyzal tablets for you. I would tell your doctor what you just shared in your post. That if you do not take the tablet for more than a day, you experience itchiness all over your body especially on your arms and legs.
Avatar f tn t already been teste for thyroid issues, it would be a good idea. My allergist put me on 2 xyzal twice a day, which was way to much. I took two doses and was weak, tired and had panic attacks. I also have celiac disease and am trying to figure out if the xyzal is gluten free. I was taking benadryl. I dont do well with any antihistamines. I was taking Benadryl. There is also an injection you can get.
Avatar n tn But since that, I began to have body itching all over my body. I wonder if it is just a time coincidence, or it is a result of the negative effect of the Simvastatin??
Avatar f tn Hi. I have been suffering since June, over 2 months. Last November I had endoscopic sinus surgery to clear my sinuses and deviated seputum fixed. I was great for 7 months! Then in June I got a sinus headache and my life has not been the same. I have been to the family doctor, the ENT, allergies and now I am going to a neurologist. My symptoms are burning sensation in cheeks leading to ears and teeth.
Avatar f tn ENT said eustachian tube dysfunction due to allergies (tested positive for various inhalent allergies) and said to use Xyzal and Flonase. Xyzal made me too sleepy so stopped, and Flonase has done nothing. ENT said it would take Flonase a month to clear up the ETD. The constant ear popping wouldn't bother me if it weren't accompanied by the lightheadedness and brain fog, which sometimes by the end of the day turns into a very bad headache and then disappears.
Avatar n tn I have a rash that started all over my stomach but has spread to my breast, chest, shoulders, sides, underarms and my back. It continues to spread & the dermatologist does not know what it is. My biopsy results came back as negative for Pityriasis Rosea. I am currently using a prescribed anti-itch cream (I think it's spelled Kenalog or Keno???) & Xyzal but nothing is stopping the itching. What is it?
Avatar f tn Strange thing is that many times when I touch my allergens with my hands, instead of my hands itching, I itch somewhere else on my body totally unrelated, and thus one would never know it was caused from what the hands were touching. Often the itch is on my torso and lower legs. But it jumps around all the time. Propylene glycol is in a lot of products like shampoo, shaving gels, underarm sticks, lotions, etc...
Avatar n tn In most of the cases of chronic urticaria, the underlying pathology is idiopathic i.e. it is not linked to any cause. It is essential to rule out the presence of serious illnesses of which recurring hives can be a symptom. Examples are hepatitis, hyperthyroidism, lymphomas, collagen vascular diseases, and cancers of the rectum, kidneys and gastrointestinal tract. I feel that you should find out the cause of your chronic urticaria by ruling out the various conditions causing it. I hope it helps.
Avatar f tn for 7 months i was on 40 - 50 mg of ultralan DAILY (it seemed to work better than Prednisone), 2 atarax tablets, 3-4 Xyzal (or zyrtec) daily. if i even tried to lessen the dose then my lips, tongue, eyes and throat would swell. the hives lessened but never fully went away. my weight ballooned and i was in a constant stupor and NOT HAPPY. oh noooo. eventually i started bi-weekly sessions of acupuncture which really really helped and finally i was off the medication.
Avatar f tn I was on for 14 days and my highest dose was 60mg. Any way I am at my wits end. I am seeing my GP again tomorrow. Any ideas of what it might be?
Avatar m tn I am an 18 year old male. About a month ago towards the last half of March while I was on my computer I started to feel this pain at the left side of my neck by the back of my jaw or around there that would hurt when I would yawn or tilt my head to the left side.
Avatar n tn I took XYZal for 4 days for my Fall allergies. Once I stopped, I developed this maddening itching all over!!!! I went to my dermatologist who prescribed hydroxyzine capsules. The meds help somewhat....but also make me tired so I can only take at night!!! I have been suffering for FIVE weeks. Any idea when I can expect this reaction to end?? Or at least some tips on method of relief? PLEASE!!
Avatar f tn Please help! I've had a low grade fever ranging from 99 to 101 for a year. It is every single day. Sometimes ibuprofen and tylenol won't break it. I've had labs for past year even including arthritis panel, hepatic panel, inflammation and your basic labs. Thyroid, even T3 and T4 tested for thyroid storms. I just recently had a CT of head and sinus, which revealed enlarged ventricles hut that was said to be genetic. Everything comes back normal.
Avatar n tn she narrowed it down to the allergy medication. Has anyone experienced this reaction? It has been 5 miserable weeks....I am on hydroxyzine pills which make me sleepy so I can only take at night to relieve itching/pinching. I have used multiple lotions. I called manufacturer who really were no help. Doctor said it will probably take 6 weeks to pass thru my system???
454221 tn?1259445739 He has been taking Xyzal. His frequent urination started about the same time he started taking this new med. I looked it up and didn't see frequent urination as one of their side effects.
Avatar m tn ve tried em all, Loratadine, Claritin, XYZal, Benedryl, Zyrtec, etc..... I see an allergist on the 28th, but was wondering if anyone has ever experienced tingling/shaking due to allergy/sneezing.
Avatar f tn I am still not satisfied , as i think its mainly due to sun. But what is it? I apply aquaphor to heal the redness and itching. Is there any way i can avoid this? Do i have sun allergy? I have tried sunscreens as well but nothing works?
Avatar n tn I am getting an allergy test in 6 days, but it would be helpful to me if I had some idea what it could be or if anyone has had a similar experience. Thanks!
Avatar n tn the doctor put me on prednisone 10mg and i have only taken 4 tablets so far and i do not feel any relief-is there another med that would work faster? and what is xyzal 5mg?
Avatar m tn She can get some steroid cream if the rashes last for a while (it makes them go away faster) and if she gets itchy, something like Xyzal, Zyrtec or Benadryl works well. The steroid cream and Xyzal are by prescripion...Zyrtec and Benadryl are OTC If she finds she's having a problem with most of the commerical soaps, making her own plant-based, oil soap might be a good option. If she wants more info about that, leave a note on my page and I'll be happy to tell her more. Lots of luck!
Avatar f tn Whenever I would switch medications, there was an adjustment period where I did feel some side effects, but if you know that it is happening it really makes it much easier to handle. Starting, stopping, or switching any medication can cause side effects...not just ADs, SSRIs, but other medications as well. As long as you are doing this under the advise of your doctor, you are doing the right thing, in my experience.
Avatar m tn HI, Mar 2018 I was fine. Allergy test revealed Cedar, Elm tree allergen. I began allergy shots, for a month, afterwards I began sneezing up a storm. Developed chronic rhinitis in the process. I've also developed montly infections, non stop since Mar 2018. Was on antibiotics for 4 months straight, last year. This year Feb/March been on antibiotics Amox/Clav. Each time, I complete course of antibiotics, I begin sneezing up a storm !!
Avatar m tn 1. Any other BLOOD test may suggest what exactly this rash is, or wait till 6 months -another antibody test ? 2. Is there a possibility that earlier fever and cough I had and now these RASHES suggest ARS ? 3. Is there a possibility that the pathlab does not handle Blood sample carefully and as HIV virus/ antibodies are not detected ? Do they always know how they have to keep the samples safe 4. Now if it is really ARS symptom (the rash), should I again get tested post WK13/wk14 5.
Avatar n tn 25 white male, good health, in shape, no history of skin problems in family. Story: Summer of 2008 (late June-ish) I started to itch a little bit at night.. which progressively got worse. To the point it was waking me up and/or preventing me from falling asleep. By August I start getting some small red bumps in the places I am most itchy. Primarily thighs, waist, stomach, back, and arms. We start off treating for basic itchy symptoms, like mites, scabies, etc.
