408448 tn?1286883821 The drug should act on the tumor in the same way that 5-FU does as it is basically converted into 5-FU inside the tumor. This should mean fewer GI side effects and less bone marrow supression as you don't have 5-FU in the rest of your body... Good luck with it.
Avatar f tn 5KGS AT 5FT HEIGHT, WE ARE TREATING THE METS WHICH HAS GONE TO HER LUNGS AND BONES AND LIVER WITH XELODA 1GRAM TWICE A DAY FOR 14 DAYS, AND THEY SCARED US WITH THE SIDE EFFECTS,BUT WE ARE ALSO GIVING HER HOMEOPATHY. Avatar f tn This is extremely variable. Some people feel side effects the evening that they inject. For others, the side effects don't show themselves until they've been undergoing treatment for weeks or months and the drugs have had a chance to build in their system. A lucky few never experience significant side effects at all. So it's hard to say. You might feel them early, late, or never at all.
Avatar f tn To determine if the increase in liver enzymes is due to side effects from Oncolet or from the recurrence of cancer metastases in the liver, an imaging procedure such as a CT scan or a liver ultrasound needs to be done first. If no metastatic nodules are seen on CT or ultrasound, then the possibility that the increase in liver enzymes is due to new lesions in the liver is already ruled out. the next thing to do is to temporarily withhold the daily intake of Oncolet.
484033 tn?1208516117 The first is an acute onset numbness/tingling observed within hours of infusion, and which can last for 1-3 days. The second type of neuropathy is a chronic numbness which can last until 3 - 4 months of discontinuing Oxaliplatin. This chronic neuropathy is dose dependent, and usually occurs when the patient has accumulated a dose equivalent to around 10 - 14 sessions of chemotherapy (850 -1200 mg/m2).
Avatar n tn I understand what you are saying. You are noticing behavior similar to what I have noticed in my husband. It is difficult to explain to anyone else, but you know what is normal for him. It can be difficult at times when you relied on him to take care of certain things and now you aren't sure whether you can. Six years ago my husband had a cancerous lump removed from under his right jawbone and underwent 8 weeks of radiation.
341137 tn?1287305043 Last night the same thing happened below my armpit on the side of my mastectomy - all the muscles seem to be trembling - is this a side effect of Tamoxifen ?? now I am starting to worry if it could be the onset of blood clots etc. Also today the numbness in my mastectomy side seemed much more, is it normal to have sensation changes.???
Avatar n tn Your oncologist will prescribe drugs to alleviate the side effects of chemotherapy like nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea etc. Certain side effects like hair loss and mucositis are temporary and will reverse after the chemotherapy course is over. Other side effects like neuropathy, hearing loss etc are less common and dose dependant ie they depend on the total dose of the drug given.
Avatar n tn When methadone is taken under medical supervision, long-term maintenance causes no adverse effects to the heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, bones, blood, brain, or other vital body organs. Methadone produces no serious side effects, although some patients experience minor symptoms such as constipation, water retention, drowsiness, skin rash, excessive sweating, and changes in libido. Once methadone dosage is adjusted and stabilized or tolerance increases, these symptoms usually subside.
Avatar f tn will xeloda given alone treat both tumours in chest wall with mestases in liver.
Avatar f tn Dr. put her on Xeloda and Tykerb. She is on a 2 week on, 1 week off cycle. Her side effects have been severe. (i.e dehydration, throwing up, no appetite, mouth sores, nausea, you name it, she has it) Her last visit to the Dr. (she goes about twice a week) just yesterday, he told her (in her words) that "everything is shrinking, and you'll have to be on this for the rest of your life.

Avatar m tn He now presents like an Alzheimers patient with sexual inappropriateness but neurologist said he has the symptoms of an Alzheimers/dementia patient without having the actual disease. I have tried researching about vaccine side effects but not finding any information that could help explain what might have happened to my father in law that was completely independent prior to the vaccine and now requires 24 hour caregivers. 1. Any recommendations on possible further testing? 2.
Avatar m tn My psa is now .03. I had no side effects during or after my proton treatments.. I was not sick or even felt bad one single day. Its like Im cured and was never sick... I am so glad I had it.. all of my "plumbing" works just like it did before the cancer.. like I said I have -0- side effects from my treatments.. If you would like more info on Proton, please feel free to send me a message...
Avatar f tn I cannot take infusion chemotheraphy for this as my side effects were so extreme the first time that Xeloda seems to be my only choice. However, I mostly would like to know what sort of bandages I could use if it breaks through and what can be done to diminish the rancid odor. This discussion is related to ulcerating tumor.
Avatar m tn s not fun being on seizure medication. They all have side effects, some worse than others. Each effects people differently. He needs to work with his neurologist to find the one that's most effective with the least side effects. The thing to remember is that seizures can cause brain damage and worst case scenario, death. That's worse than any side effect, right? As far as the Bell's Palsy goes, I have to admit to complete ignorance in relation to epilepsy.
Avatar m tn Well since last Saturday my 11 yr old toy poodle suffered seizures, with Sunday being a full blown one. She was hospitalized both days and stabilized. I took her to her vet on Monday and was prescribed phenobarbital and told most likely a brain tumor. Of course if I had the financial means I would do more, maybe an MRI etc. I sure don't like the side effects of pheno for her, but the thought of her going through more seizures is to scary. Any thoughts out there or experiences.
Avatar f tn My husband was diagnosed with colon Cancer in Feb 2007. He took chemo drug Xeloda and had standard radiation. During a check up in January 2008, tumors were found in his lungs- one in each lung, sizes: 7mm and 13mm. He took chemo: Folfox, Avastin, Oxaliplatin, and Xeloda until April 2008. The April CT scan revealed that the tumors had grown slightly and that there were four more small nodules visable.
Avatar m tn It is very disconcerting if you have to interact with the public. Sometimes oral prednisone will make this go away, but prednisone has many side effects. Needless to say you need an in-person evaluation by a neurologist, but between me, you and the wall, they will probably recommend a period of watchful waiting.
