408448 tn?1286883821 Anyone ever use Xeloda pills? It is for colon cancer, but has been used in ovarian too. More for mucinous type. My cancer got pretty active on last treatment.
Avatar f tn Hi. Of the drugs you mentioned, Xeloda (Capecitabine) and Oncolet (Letrozole) are the ones exerting therapeutic effects on your mother's cancer. All the other drugs are just supportive medication. Xeloda is a cytotoxic (kills cancer cells) oral chemotherapy drug. Oncolet is a form of hormonal treatment designed to reduce the circulating estrogen in your mother's body, thereby reducing the growth stimulus of the cancer cells.
484033 tn?1208516117 Capecitabine, Fluorouracil, and Oxaliplatin. All three drugs, whether used singly or as part of a combination regimen, are relatively well tolerated and have "milder" adverse effects when compared to other chemotherapy drugs.
Avatar m tn I was prescribed oral Xeloda together with infusions of oxiliplatin, but had to discontinue the Xeloda. My body smply could not tolerate the drug and while taking Xeloda I lost more than one pound per day, snd had relentless nausea and terrible pain in my hands and feet. After one three-week cycle my doctor discontinued the Xeloda. I was able to complete treatment with the oxiliplatin. This was in 2004 and I am cancer free today. Ask your mother's doctor for something else.
Avatar f tn will xeloda given alone treat both tumours in chest wall with mestases in liver.
Avatar m tn Mother (66F, colon CA IIIB) is starting her 4th round of XELOX (capecitabine+oxaliplatin) and has 4 more to go. Her neutrophils are naturally low (~1.6) without chemo (possibly related to the synthroid she has been taking since 2010?). By round 2 her neutro dropped to .6 so they gave her Neupogen and stopped capecitabine for 4 days. They gave her a longer-acting version of Neupogen before round 3 and lowered the dose of oxa to 90%. Before round 4 her neutro was back down at .9.
Avatar f tn 5KGS AT 5FT HEIGHT, WE ARE TREATING THE METS WHICH HAS GONE TO HER LUNGS AND BONES AND LIVER WITH XELODA 1GRAM TWICE A DAY FOR 14 DAYS, AND THEY SCARED US WITH THE SIDE EFFECTS,BUT WE ARE ALSO GIVING HER HOMEOPATHY. WE ARE GIVING A GOOD NUTRITIONAL DIET ALONG WITH A PROTINEX SUPPLEMENT. ON 5TH OF FEB IS HER APPOINTMENT WITH THE ONCO. I HOPE XELODA HAS ARRESTED THE GROWTH OF CANCER CELLS. IF IT HAS CAN YOU TELL ME HOW MANY CYCLES CAN SHE TAKE WITHOUT IT DOING MUCH HARM.
Avatar m tn The drugs involved are capecitabine and oxaliplatin, my instinct is to protect my remaining kidney by not exposing it to toxins it may have difficulty in clearing. Has anybody out there had a similar experience or has undergone chemo with similar complications?
Avatar f tn My husband was diagnosed with colon Cancer in Feb 2007. He took chemo drug Xeloda and had standard radiation. During a check up in January 2008, tumors were found in his lungs- one in each lung, sizes: 7mm and 13mm. He took chemo: Folfox, Avastin, Oxaliplatin, and Xeloda until April 2008. The April CT scan revealed that the tumors had grown slightly and that there were four more small nodules visable.
Avatar f tn I would suggest consulting you doctor for alternative brands for the same drug (capecitabine), that might be cheaper or considering alternative thereputic measures that you may be able to afford. It might also be a good idea to contact the social services in your region, if they would be in a position to help. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar f tn My mom took Xeloda also as a maintenance drug for colorectal cancer. Typically diet and exercise do not affect CEA levels; however, inflammation can affect it. Sometimes CEA levels will rise if there is any type of inflammation. I know this is a scary time. Feel free to send me a message if you need to talk.
Avatar f tn Hi there, I posted a few weeks ago to say my Mum may be going on a trial as they were all out of options. She started the trial yesterday. They are trying a combination of eribulin and capecitabine. As it's a phase 1 trial it's to establish a safe dose so she will be given the drugs in an increasing amount to see what the body can handle and the effect it has. I will keep you all posted on her progress and any good news that comes from the trial.
Avatar f tn Within a month, the breast cancer started in her skin around the site of the node. She now has a red rash (skin mets) in approx half of her chest wall and is getting Chemo (Xeloda) and Herceptin. My question is, the skin is beginning to "harden" around the node removal surgery site. What does this mean? Any other comments on Skin mets would be greatly appreciated.
484033 tn?1208516117 Yes, that was adjuvant therapy, administered between surgery and ileostomy takedown. (It was originally combined with Xeloda, but I could not tolerate that drug so the Xeloda was discontinued) Prior to surgery I treated with 5FU and radiation. So glad to put that in the past! Just had a follow-up exam and CEA 125 is normal. No lasting problems except the neuropathy in both heels, which is annoying but not a real big deal. Hope your tx goes as well.
Avatar f tn My Husband has Stage 4 Esophageal Cancer he is on treatments for a clinical trial Avastin, Xeloda, Oxaliplatin He has been on the Trial since early March 2010 he was diagnosed the end of February 2010 He is 35 years old and other then the Cancer has been in perfect health the treatments started off well but he developed stage 3-4 Neuropathy in August in his hands and feet. They have continued with the trial with just the Avastin and Xeloda which he is still taking.
Avatar n tn My onco tried me on taxol, and avastin, then xeloda. Neither of these worked. He suggests that I try Jemzar. I have stage IV mestatic breast cancer that has spread to my spine. I was dx in Feb 2002. I have previously been on different chemo.surgery, hormonal.. arimidex, aromosin, fasoldex . and several radiation treatments. I am undecided on doing any more chemo. My cancer , of course , is er/pr positive. Is there any advice on this chemo. or is there another hormonal I could try.
Avatar n tn This includes the drugs vinorelbine, capecitabine, gemcitabine and the taxanes. Still another option, particularly if the cancer is at an early stage, would be to use hormonal treatment alone instead of chemotherapy.
Avatar f tn Hello again, Apologies for not getting back to you before. I go to The Christie for my chemo on Tuesdays and it wipes me out for a couple of days. I have lobular breast cancer which is hormone receptive but I am not sure of the status. I know that it feeds off oestrogen which is why I was given Arimidex (wonderful stuff) but it was stopped when they discovered I had osteoporosis.
Avatar m tn My brother 51 year old had a expl laporotomy on 15 feb 2010, a single lymph node in the omentum was positive for adenocarcinoma with primary in GB ,underwent 8 cycles of chemo wIth Gemcytabine & cisplatin & also IMRT 25 cycles local radiation with gemcytabine .HIS CA 19.9 was initially 2400, then 400 in august but now is 3200.His latest PET SCAN shows some spread in liver, pancreas, infraclavicular node & is now being treated with CISPLATIN & CAPECITABINE.
Avatar f tn I am taking Xeloda and hoping that will help shrink this huge tumor. I cannot take infusion chemotheraphy for this as my side effects were so extreme the first time that Xeloda seems to be my only choice. However, I mostly would like to know what sort of bandages I could use if it breaks through and what can be done to diminish the rancid odor. This discussion is related to ulcerating tumor.
Avatar n tn What chemotherapy has she taken so far? Were the tablets she took capecitabine? What is her ER/PR/HER2 status? Has she received any Zoledronic acid? Please let me know these details. All the Best, and God Bless!
Avatar n tn Xelox regimen (Oxaliplatin as infusion and Capecitabine as tablets) are given for advanced stage colorectal cancer. Please discuss with your doctor and read more about the sideeffects of Xelox, hairfall doesn't happen in this chemo.
