Avatar f tn Has her condition improved since she stopped wearing leather? I have never worn "Genuine Leather" shoes, partly because they are so expensive. I just bought a pair of genuine leather sandals yesterday, and hope it holds up today. Yesterday my coworker says out loud "If people would just wash the fungus off their feet, maybe it wouldn't smell as bad". Little do they know that I spend more time washing my feet then most. I rotate shoes daily, you should see my car!!
Avatar f tn Hi everyone, Does anyone know where I can buy shoes (especially sneakers) that don't contain leather or rubber accelerators? I'm allergic to potassium dichromate (in tanned leather) and carba mix (in rubber) and I can't find much information about what shoes might be safe for me to wear. I'm a runner so not being able to wear sneakers is really kind of screwing up my life. Thanks!
Avatar n tn Thank you so much for the advice. I didn't even think about it spreading to the groin area. I'm wondering if it would be OK to put all leather shoes (with leather soles also) in the oven. I really want to make sure my shoes don't re-infect my feet. Maybe a lower temperature will also kill the fungus.
Avatar n tn If you are allergic to shoes in general, then you could be having sweat dermatitis, so if there is sweat in feet then a rash appears. You could also be having fungal infection like tinea pedis that gets exacerbated when you wear shoes due to hot and humid environment in a closed shoe. The other possibility is that you are allergic to some materal in the shoes and develop contact dermatitis when you wear them. Talk to your doctor regarding this.
Avatar f tn If they are painful then you need to avoid standing for long, wear heel cups in your shoes, wear shoes with soft pads and rub pain relief gel over the heel. Some patients respond to cortisone injections. Other possibilities are allergic dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis (less likely) and fungal infection. Please discuss this with your doctor. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.
Avatar f tn Remove them from the foot often if he can. Wear season appropriate shoes too.... sandals, flip flops, canvas sneakers in summer. (As in NO COMBAT BOOTS in the summer!!!). I also found during the winter I literally had to bring difference shoes and socks to wear at work! I'd wear my thick warm socks and boots out to the car and to work, and then change my socks and shoes there. Then change back to thick socks and bots on the way home.

Avatar n tn I prefer to not use alcohol or Lysol spray as as they could harm the leather. Is it possible to disinfect/sterilize old shoes by heating them in the oven to kill the bugs? What tempurature and how long to kill fungus and bacteria etc.?
Avatar n tn The only alternative I found is wooden clog shoes by Dr. Scholls or all leather hand sewn shoes which are really expensive. I have been unable to find a sneaker without it, My feet are suffering!!!
Avatar f tn Do you stand or sit for long periods or go jogging? Your skin could be reacting to the chemicals in your shoes, slippers, socks or nylons. While at work (if possible) remove your shoes to let your feet breathe. Because of my chemical sensitivities I have to wear 100% cotton socks and wear shoes that breathe to keep my feet cool. Most of our shoes are made from chemicals in one way or another even leather ones which is what I have to wear. I change my socks twice a day.
Avatar f tn t help but feel that if the problem comes on even after you wear brand new shoes, it is the interaction of the sweat on your feet, the bacteria or fungus on your skin, and the way the leather in the shoes is tanned. Do you wear shoes around the house? Have you tried going barefoot at home? Have you soaked your feet in something like epsom salts and water, or vinegar and water, or hydrogen peroxide, for at least a half hour every evening?
1532707 tn?1312155924 So normally I have parasthesia in my hands. This time its in my feet. It's not so bad but what is driving me nuts is that it keeps feeling like there's wrinkles in my socks! I take my shoes off and the socks are perfect. Ugh! Just frustrated and needed to vent.
Avatar f tn Hey everyone i would like to ask if i will put myself in rabies risk in this situation, i was walking in our office and accidentally hit the milk cup of cat, the milk gies to floor that time im wearing a leather shoes with damage and socks, immediately remove the shoes ans socks maybe the milk that lick by cat goes to my skin, i double check the skin of my feet and there is no wounds or old wounds in my feet, and used the paper to wipe my feet if there is a active bleeding wounds, there is no
Avatar n tn It was drizzling and wet that day and I was wearing leather loafer shoes and my feet was cold and slightly wet even before I was in that bathroom. Once I got back to work and took off my shoes, I noticed that the interior/exterior leather, the dr scholls cushion, and my socks were soaked even more on both feet. And to ease my mind, after work I went back to that bathroom to ask if they clean the floor and the guy told me that they do with solution/bleach a few times a day.
Avatar f tn It never itches, ever. I wash all my socks in hot water and only wear the same pair of shoes every three days or so. I am currently keeping my feet as dry as possible and wearing open-toed shoes constantly. I do use coconut oil on my feet when dry, as I've heard it has antifungal properties. I also just started using Lamisil two days ago but the dry/white areas only appear to be getting worse. WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE! Photo: http://i65.tinypic.com/245mwbp.
Avatar f tn I had this. I had to get rid of all my shoes and only wear leather ones. May have a reaction to plastic.
Avatar n tn If your feet sweat, put Monistat Cream on and rub in good every night and dust every morning with cornstarch. Keep shoes loose on top, and white cotton socks if you wear socks. It sounds like it is dye, or the tightness across the top of the shoe. Get air to your feet as much as possible. If you can't wear socks you need to put white cotton between you and the top of your feet to keep the dye away from your skin. Leather shoes usually have an acid in them.
280418 tn?1306325910 I would suggest you to try changing your shoes, socks, insoles and rotate your shoes and socks in between the walking sessions, soak your feet in cool water do not use ice. You can also take B complex supplements and see if they improve your symptoms. Hope this helps!
Avatar m tn geox, or make sure it’s breathable shoes like leather Insoles: Cedar wooden soles!! this is a must! Then ask yourself if this is a bacterial overgrowth, fungus or sweat problem. Best to always check with a dermatologist!! Go to one!!! Bacterial overgrowth: You can check if fucidin lotion (note it’s a medicine, don’t overuse) can help you. Sometimes anti acne lotion can help such as clindamycine or benzac 10% . The bacterias causing zits can sometimes be same bacetrias causing smell.
Avatar n tn my son is 12 yrs old and has had a bad foot allergy specially when he excersises and sweets or when he get his feet wet and put his shoes on. I;ve been told it is related to a rubber and other synthetic materials allergy. Does anyone one how to treat?
Avatar n tn Being the OCD me, I am now plagued by fears that I can contract HIV or some diseases from them. I was wearing long pants and leather shoes with socks that day. Question: Any chances the needle could have penetrated my clothing and pierced my skin? I did not feel any pain nor touched the needle (although in my freaked out state now, I am imagining I could have..) Totally freaked out now. Please tell me I am fine and that I can go and play with my 2-month old baby now... Thanks!
Avatar m tn I wear leather soles in the summer and light rubber sole in winter. And the sheepskin linings help. They are winderfully light weight. I am in Australia and purchase from Amazon. Delivery is fast and efficient from America. .
